- J.D. Pinkus is the former bassist for the legendary Austin experimental rock band Butthole Surfers. Though the bass has been Pinkus' primary instrument through an assortment of projects, he's also proficient at banjo, which he processes through an arrangement of effects pedals and audio loops, giving the instrument an eerie, woozy quality.
Pinkus is also a rotating member of another noteworthy rock band--Melvins. He also collaborates with Houston-based artist D.Kosmo. Pinkus visited Skyline Sessions to record "Broken Days" and "Happy Cow," both from his 2018 album Keep On The Grass.
Long live The Surfers, long live JD pinks.

Seen JD in Toronto last night it was very entertaining.
You are my new obsession.. 🥰🥰🥰🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yup... me too.
One afternoon in the fall of 1985, I walked into the college radio station, where I had just enrolled as a freshman, to inquire about taking some shifts. Inside, a future buddy was on air, spinning The Shah Sleeps…. My first of many collegiate “wtf is that???” experiences as a kid fresh in from B.F.E. Oklahoma. I couldn’t have chosen a better intro to college life than the Surfers. Thank you for adding to the awesomeness, and I really like this song. Also, thanks to the random Redditor for tipping me to it, wherever they are.
All of me feels all of this song, love the intro, love J.D. Pinkus

Butthole Surfers was trending on Twitter today, so here I am. First time hearing this take on an excellent Honky song.
This kicks ass.
Finally getting around to Jeff's stuff after years of waiting for either more Buttholes and Leary stuff. Just excellent!

Pinkus4Life
He is performing here in New Orleans Friday night ( july 21 ). Cant wait
Intro is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pinkus!
JD Pinkus is quite a storied musician. From the Butthole Surfers, Melvins, Daddy Longhead, Honky, many many guest appearances, oh Tall Tall Trees Ponder Machine, Pure Luck (if you can find it anywhere, please post it here) and solo Stay on the Grass and Fungus Shui. I think they're on Shimmydisc Records. Jeff knows everyone in the business including many you wouldn't connect him to. he's traveled the world and is the craziest and the person. He's pretty smart too. More talented than you may think. Please check out the stuff above., I think you'll all will like it.
420 thumbs up for grandmaster pinky
Well this is fuckin awesome! 🔥
my main man - Rico Petroleum on the 4. & 5.
miss ya bratha!!!!!!!
What's that blue pedal on the end you're using? PS-5? Very sweet
"A lot of y'all love words..."
Very Inspiring I Must say
Puscifer should cover this
Pinkus should remix some of their albums
cousin eddie plays a mean banjo
He’s the other Pink meat.
Hello metallica.
Dude has a pedigree. Bass for Butthole Surfers, including on Electric Larry Land, and periodic stints with (the) Melivins. Metalli-who?
Huge package I see there stud
Yeah he's talented and this is a good song and all, but based on his appearance I think we should investigate if he might be a CONSERVATIVE ☹️
hahaha
@@JDPinkus Oh man just kidding haha. Love your stuff
Oh no way man. 😂 cmon
