Would be nice to see championship clubs promoted to the prem so the premiership is not ring fenced with certain teams, you would also see new match ups with new teams keeps the game fresh.
No mention the impact of the Black Ferns. Their final against England in the world cup was probably the best game I have ever seen - I am 70! They have such personality, Ruby Tui, Portia Woodman, Stacey Fluhler are such excellent ambassadors and they say what they want. Ruby Tui was on the shortlist of New Zealander of the Year. So good for Rugby! Thanks Black Ferns.
@@Quinefan I know he meant specifically and I’m still calling it out. Well when they say the growth of the women game and the New Zealand women won the rugby World Cup with a full stadium, it clearly does include them. And throughout this whole thing only one team was mentioned individually and that was Ireland and only because they’ve improved so much as a nation and arguably they run the sport the best way in their country. So I don’t why New Zealand women deserve a whole spot for themselves when they’re mentioned in the growth of the womens game, nz has always been one of the strongest if not the strongest.
Just recently watched Shoulder to Shoulder again, so much of what this episode was about is epitomised in the documentary. And David Duckham, RIP, was the man WJ McBride credited for England travelling to Dublin in the troubles when Wales and Scotland refused.
The Tobago tour… that was the best tour I’ve ever been on. Defending champions with a completely new squad, on the piss every night whilst the Americans were treating as professional as possible for us to only go and beat them all. Followed by a 2 day beach and boat party. WHAT A TOUR
Totally agree about David Duckam - real nice guy , lovely wife and toured in SA with them hosting groups for lions tours and had them both do rugby promotions for Muscat Rugby club in Oman - top bloke and a player in his day too!
100% England's need to change to Jerusalem, they play it before the game anyway at Twickenham and its always belted out. Best though would be France for passion.
Have a look at the damage done to the community game by the RFU decision to reduce the number of league games and foist an end of season cup competition that few are interested in . Have a look at the number of HWO and AWO in the Papa John cup and how few level 5 clubs in the south west entered because of travel costs.
On anthems 'Ireland's Call' isn't a national anthem or even a popular Irish song, it's an IRFU invention to get over the difficulty of including players from the green & orange traditions.
Can we talk about the Lions Tour 2021 and get a player or coach from that tour on GBR. I honestly reckon I've listened to every single one of the GBR episodes. I find it interesting no body has really opened up honestly about that tour yet, do the players feel like Garland got his tactics wrong? What was it actually like being stuck in a hotel for the whole tour? The Rassie Ref Drama etc, there is so much I want to know about what really went on and how the players feel. Louis RZ, Simmonds, Russell, all the attacking players just didn't get a proper look in! I get the feeling the squad actually fell out, after the last test, nobody seems to really want to open up about the Tour. Get someone on guys that has nothing to lose and will tell all, would be a cracking episode! Get Rassie On! Is there huge beef between the players from the lions squad and SA squad still? And will that spice up the World cup? Because I feel like those squads really hated each other.
Could you please separate the things by sections for more convenient access ? All stories are fun but it d make going through the video much easier Love the show
Half the problem with alcohol issues at Twickenham is that actual rugby fans have been priced out of going to games. Alcohol isn't a problem at premiership games
I’m pretty sure they’ve been out priced by other actual rugby fans lol. And there’s no drinking problem at twickenham every time I’ve gone there’s no issue
Prem. and Champ. as summer leagues. Prem. to be 12 teams split 6 north/6 south. Teams play in their own div. Home and away, and the opposing div. home or away (alternate each season). 16 league games with top 2 from each div. going into semis. Prem final to decide outright champs at Twickenham. At the bottom end, the 2 teams finishing last play off, with the loser playing the winners of the Championship in a relegation/promotion decider, also at Twickenham, as a double-header with the prem. final. Everything below Prem. and Champ. is amateur or (very) semi-pro, and played in winter.
What annoyed me about the HK7s was….it was difficult to get tickets (‘91 & ‘92) but the stadium was half empty because of all the corporate wanker seats and the corporate wankers didn’t turn up, until the final on Sunday and them only a few. HK7s was so brilliant though 👏👏👏👏👏.
My fondest memories are of tours. When I lived and played in the Middle East in the 70s we used to travel to play every other week. All games were on rolled sand and to prevent horrible lurgies you either scrubbed your grazes until they bled in the shower or bathed in hydrogen peroxide. I even played in the inaugural Dubai 7s in 1976 for Oman. Great days and a book full of tales.
They can't say that though because England don't have their own anthem, they sing a british anthem. It's a real shame for them, it would be nice to see something that is their own.
The irish always respect God save the king in Dublin, but when the English start singing swing low during the game, it flicks a switch and a gear change and then they go very quiet again 😂😂😂
When will the good the bad a rugby actually go to clubs training grounds , meet the players ,coaches etc it's about making the players showbiz to grow the sport . The game is dying in the Southern Hemisphere, especially here in NZ, obviously a Northern Hemisphere team HAS to win the Rugby World Cup in France 2023, thats a Positive 😃👍
Wow, so positive! Womyn are so much more awesome than (yuck!) men! Their growth and sponsorships are so organic! Let’s just cancel men’s rugby, which is so toxically masculine! I’m unsubscribing until this pod has exclusively female presenstars!

Well they’re a woman’s rugby team so yes they were mentioned

15 ferns v 14 roses players for most of the match. The red card a travesty in my opinion. Just saying.!!
@@pheasantplucker6117 Well, knocked Portia Woodman unconscious with a blow to the head when she didn't have the ball.

No.6… Sir Ian McGeechan and Tony Biscombe taught me at school in Leeds for four years. Priceless experience. The greatest.

Should be working, decided to watch 5 minutes; an hour and a quarter later!!!!
Pocock stayed with Connor Murray's family when an underage Aus side toured Ireland
Canada for a lioness’s tour seeing as they just placed 4 in the world!
Rate Hask's trump impression out of 10 👇🤣
8 tidy
5 + 2 (for calling Tinds... Hillary 😂) = 7.✅️
Hask’s brain is more Biden.
Cancel the premiership playoffs, Lions go to Tonga, Fiji and Samoa, maybe even USA & Argentina
Why has Hask got a watch on both wrists?
It’s quite common, one a fitness tracker the other probably a decent watch, couldn’t see the brand.
Fair enough. I’ve never seen it before!
May be a watch naus thing. Looks like he’s got a Breitling and Tinds possibly a Tag but hard to see.
One is a watch-watch and the other is a gaff counter.
Riverlake RFC!!
Just a bit pissed off with Haskell saying we don't need Newcastle. Another one with his head up his arse.....
Rugby is on its arse
The main thing i love about rugby is all the hot guys!
great pod although tins needs to watch that paunch? just saying
Greed from the adminstrators through to the players. Rugby is now reaping what it sowed.
Haskell as a DJ, talk about scrapping the bottom of a barrel.
The best anthem should be 'Jerusalem' for England, but it will never be. END.
Land of Hope and Glory would be good ... Jerusalem has some unfortunate lines that lend themselves to mimes and quite a bit of parody.
@@rorykeegan1895not really. And I don’t think people pay enough attention anyway

South Africa Vs All Blacks
@ Ellis Park
