  • Wow! Omaha NE kind of blew my mind. I did not expect much from the largest city in NE and second largest city in the Great Plains. I start this walk down at the old Market area which was super cool. It reminded me of some of the old Paris markets. We also get to see a really fascinating multi-block sculpture park: First National's Spirit of Nebraska's Wilderness and Pioneer Courage Park. his sculpture park is the largest installation of bronze and stainless steel work of art in the United States and one of the two or three largest in the world.

    Omaha has a Metropolitan area population of 1 million with a city population of 486,000. Much, MUCH larger than small cities like Sioux Falls SD (metro population 250,000 and Sioux City IA (metro population of about 100,000). So you are correct, Omaha is exponentially larger. Glad you enjoyed our city. Nice video 👍

    Absolutely love video. I used to work in the Landmark Building you had in the video and used to go walking in the Old Market and all the areas you highlighted on my breaks. Omaha is a hidden gem in the country. Every time we have friends or family come that have never been, they are all surprised. I moved to eastern Iowa for a few years, but moved back to Omaha 10 years ago and love it (small town feel with big-city amenities)

    A lovely little town, but lots of Scrooges there? Really like that old section you started in and that high school was amazing! When you do multiple walks how many steps do you average? I know you mentioned wearing a FitBit and was just curious what your daily total and averages are for these longer, and multiple walks is.

    • @CityWalks
      @CityWalks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it. If I do about 4 walks it's about 25000 steps for the day but I think these walks average about 5k. Great question. -H

    To be honest, I haven’t watched whole video yet, but wondered if you got to eat at The Mattress Factory? I think that is what it is called. My son wanted to take me there on our way through to Wy. It is a really neat restaurant downtown that he went to when he drove through Iowa for RAGBRAI. We literally went out of our way to eat there.
