John Doe why
That's is a men in dress.
@@trashperson77 You cannot even spell "man" correctly. What makes you the authority on whether or not she is socially qualified to be a woman?
Laverne is so gorgeous. Being transgender doesn't make her ugly it adds to her own unique beauty. I wish people could just accept people for all of who they are, the world probably wouldn't be so dark.
exactly, i think she is beautiful and she has her own kind of beauty
I'm from mobile...went to church with them growing up her mom is a sweet lady...go LaVerne!
+jabel hendrix Awesome!
cool!!
jabel hendrix me too I'm thinking cousin
jabel hendrix the voice is not changed
Laverne Cox is way more than just a good exemple, or one of the spoke person for Transgender people. She shows many values, qualities than many people just don't have. The pain she went through made her who she is and she is a strong, beautiful person. Some people will never understand what she had/has to go through, and its fine. But dont make comments, give your opinion to trash someone, or judge when you dont have anything else but your ignorance self.
Girl, don't you worry about a thing. You're gorgeous and you should always keep your head up high
Her story is heartbreaking but I'm so happy that she's happy now! She's such a wonderful human being.
I am so grateful for Laverne. She is so gracious to be so open about her story and her experiences, and I know she has taught me so much from the few times I have heard her speak, even on youtube. People like her make this world a better place.
Beautiful. Thank-you Laverne. Thank-to all the trans-people who are beginning to embrace who they are, to risk being seen out of the closet, to show that trans-people are everywhere, are every type of person, are capable of loving and being loved, of raising children, of holding down a job - a career, of contributing to society in meaningful ways and, just like cisgender people, just as capable of having issues, problems, and even failing. We're all just people. Some are more different than others, but we are people, still.
Lauren Nicole, we are so proud of you! You are BEING the change you want to see in the world! You rock!
I'm from Birmingham, Al and I'm a transgender FtM teen. Laverne Cox is an amazing woman and is inspiring to many. I have a lot of support from school, family and friends where I am in Alabama and I wish she had that also but I'm glad her mom supports her and now millions of people.
This was very personal and touching. I am a mom of two young sons and the anguish expressed about wanting to have her proud off him now a her was very emotional.
I've been scrolling through the comment section and after 10 mins, i passed only 3 hate comments... That is amazing.. Although a lot of people are hateful and ignorant, the amount of loving and accepting people continues to grow little by little.. I hope one day everyone will be loving and accepting regardless of religion, sex, gender identity, sexuality and race
She articulates her feelings so well. Love her.
I am posting under my husband's profile. Laverne, I am a teacher. I hope I would be there for you. I try so hard to be there for kids who are dealing with sexuality issues. You are an inspiration. God loves you and so do we. Keep on keeping on.
Great story. I wish things like that were not true. Why must we tear someone down to make our self look big. It is good that her mom accepted her as that often is the hardest blow. Keep telling the story until we get it.
my own dad disowned me and told me to kill my self when I came out as a girl early, so I know what discrimination is like

unimaginable. I cannot comprehend such a thought process. I'm glad you didn't.
we need the story to be told.Too many can not take the rejection. Rejection by those we love and trust is the heaviest to bear. Thank you for hanging in there and not letting their lack of understanding rob you of a great life. Public examples like Lavern, Janet, and many others, prove you are a productive valuable part of society.
Laverne, you are such a strong, beautiful, amazing, courageous woman. I hope you can give hope to thousands of other people in your situation.
My beloved Laverne... I am so proud of you, and I am proud that the two of us are Alabamians. In the Deep South, things are never easy, but you have found yourself, you know who you are, and you are an inspiration to me. Nothing gives me greater joy than walking doing the streets of downtown Birmingham with rainbow bracelets on my wrist... you inspired me to be proud and comfortable in my own city. Love you Laverne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I totally understand how she felt when her mother made her think it was her fault that other kids bullied her and how she wanted her mother to be proud of her as a child. This whole interview made me cry. I love her.
I was watching random Laverne interviews to keep me entertained while I get ready and now I'm crying! She's such a beautiful woman. I feel the emotion 100% when she talks about her mother. I hope things continue to go well in their relationship.
Did anyone come here after TH-cam's amazing tribute?
🙋🏼
She's so beautiful!
makel layton please leave. please leave. thank you.
makel layton makel Layton you really are an ignorant hick I swear, get out of your hate narrow mind set. I wish men who talk like you would educate them selves before making an ASS of your self.
im so happy for laverne. what a phenomenal woman
Bless her heart! Sorry for all the many trials she's had to deal w/ in her life, but SO proud of her & how far she's come with loving herself - as she should! I love her!!
She's exactly who she's meant to be, and that's beautiful just like she is. I lost it when she got emotional. I just wanna give her a big hug and take away the pain she has and does feel. She's strong and inspiring tho :-)
Laverne. Thank you for sharing your story. As a child from New York I experienced the exact same abuse. The struggle is real. Peace love.
so thankful for this channel. This is why youtube exists.
we're doing a project at school where we have to write an expository essay on someone we look up to and view as a hero in our lives. I chose this absolutely shining woman, one who's inspired me as an activist and honestly gave me the most odd sense of empowerment ever since I laid eyes on her playing Sophia in orange is the new black. Thank you so much, Laverne, thank you. stay strong and beautiful as always
You are a well-spoken intelligent person. Life is not fair that you had to go through the painful childhood experience. Yes, now that you are adults, there are a lot of people who would not let that kind of pain happens to you. I hope you erase all the blame you put on yourself and enjoy life to the fullest. Wishing all the goodness and happiness you deserve. You are beautiful inside and outside.
Laverne is so amazing. Watching that I just wanted to hug her and first tell her how strong she is for having the courage to share her story and how glad I am that she survived attempting suicide. All schools and after school programs should have a zero tolerance for bullying. Kids also need to understand when they are being bullied that it's not their fault and teachers need to step up and squash it not let it happen and trust kids to resolve it on their own.
Such a beautiful, courageous woman! Look at how far she has come and how much awareness she has recently brought to Transgendered WOC. Amazing.
She is BEAUTIFUL and a great actress....I'm glad they chose a real transgendered woman for the role of Sophia.

OMG I love Laverne, when she cries I teared up :'(
Beautiful. I'm glad she's able to share her story with us ^_^
Beautiful, brave and amazing.. thanks for sharing
I wish kids who bully other kids knew how much their words and actions hurt. To this day I can remember things that were said to me that cut like a knife. Im so sorry you experienced that growing up. You have come a long way and found success. Good for you! I hope your spirit has healed. You are a beautiful woman
she is so amazing
Angelica Estaves as we see looking like women that’s makes me thought that we have a lot of trans in Hollywood
amazing, good luck to her and i am looking forward to seeing her more on OITNB next season!
Beautiful. Orange is the New Black rocks!! Keep on keepin' on Lavernve Cox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We support you
i frickin LOVE her!
thank you Laverne for sharing!
what a beautiful woman both inside and out. it takes a lot of courage to overcome such prejudice in life
I love to dance too ;D but people are saying that dancing is for girls.. UM NOT? I don't like how people think things are limited to just certain genders.
this story touched me...I know what its like to get bullied for things you really cannot change. I wish her the best!
She's so gorgeous! Love her on OITNB, hope to see her in more projects in the future.
She is genuinely a very beautiful woman, she should be proud of herself for who she is :)
Keep on representing, Laverne. You are AWESOME!!!!!
great video . so glad her mother came around .
She is so beautiful, love her as Sophia and her story. It's cool that she is so open and working so hard for the transgender community.
I've been a fan of Laverne's for a long time. I'm really happy to see her doing so well in her career :)
She articulates herself so well.
Ohmygosh she is so amazing I'm crying :')
I love her so much. She is an inspirational artist.
Beautiful person inside and out, and fascinating actress. I love her in OITNB and wish her all the very best in her career.
God bless you, girl. and thank you nathan manske!!
I identify with her story so much omg.
This video is the first time I've heard her voice. It's wonderful that she owns her voice being relatively deep. I had to wait to age 59 to transition, and there's no way I'm ever going to have a feminine voice. I take courage from transwomen like Laverne Cox who are living with a voice like mine. If she can do it, I can, too.
She was in orange is the new black right? Yea
Yeah I think so
Nashauntay Robinson yes
My gosh, what an amazing, inspiring woman.
This video made me cry. And I'm very proud of her. :')
She's so beautiful omg
I love u and so does my daughter. When ever in Boston we r here to support u. I love u cuz I'm a Trans mom and that's plenty.
Heroic. She's incredible.
Laverne is such a good person!
For God's sake give her a hug!
who would choose to go through that if it was not because of NATURE?,
I found this when I was wanting more info on the actresses who play in the new Netflix series Orange is the New Black, which Laverne Cox plays in as Transgendered! I have to say I have a new feeling of respect for her, I think she is beautiful, not just outside but also inside! I wanted to cry with her when she was talking about being bulled, I was too as a child, except I am a lesbian! And when she talked about her mom finally saying she was sorry, it really got to me, I'm happy for her!
She has such a beautiful spirit.
we are all born with flaws. some with more visible flaws than others. most of the bully's in schools bully others in order to divert attention away from themselves.
the purpose of life is to accept these flaws in ourselves, but more importantly, to accept the flaws in other people. and the person who can view those flaws as gifts which make us who we are, is a person who we should all aspire to become.
i'm sorry that you have a much further way to go than most people in this world.
....all to close to home for me...being transgender is by far the most difficult thing I've ever had to deal with... ***hugs*** to Laverne Cox.....
Incredible testimony.
Well, I love her, she's amazing and a wonderful person.
gooood she is sooo beautiful!
I mean this in the most respectful way possible, I'd tap that, seriously she's beautiful ^_^

Respect Ms. Laverne. Respect.
Omg I'm from Alabama also. You are so beautiful Laverne and your story made me really aware of alot of stuff in my life also.
Laverne Cox is such a nice woman : she's goergeous, an excellent actress, you can see that she's also funny. I just love her.
Absolutely stunning whoever she dates is very lucky to have her in there life she is amazing and an inspiration
I'm not trans but she does it for me. I really admire her activism and her talent. I feel like she is poised to become the first mainstream transtar. I don't even look at her as trans anymore, even though I've used that word 3 times already. She's a woman. Anyway, hope you haters out there get a grip and grow up one day. Over and out.
You rock, bro!
Good video. Thanks!
I got the “what did you do to make them do that to you?” response myself. From the same people, mind you, who would admonish me if I said, “He made me do it!” Well, if I can’t use that excuse, neither can anyone else.
you go girl !
Shes such a sweet woman, gotta love her :)
Lavern is a example
She's GORGEOUS!
LAVERNE IS SOLID GOLD
And that story is both so sad and and hopefull...
I'm definitely crying rn.
SO TOUCHING
She's just fascinating...
She is so fabulous, I love her.
I love her
I gotta say how brave & true she is!!! My Kid said it was soooo hard to come out to me, and im the black sheep of the fam, like tatted up all over and the weed smoker, biker, musician, and it was really trippy to me that it was hard to come out to ME??!! like WTF...I have LGBT friends and associates--Here i'm Milw we call it the BLT crewe, so how in the hell was it SOOOO hard to come out to me, but the kid said, very truly that im so judgemental, and rigid in what i like and who i love...So please come out to your dads!!! He will love YOU no matter what if he is 1/2/ as cool as HE thinks he is!!~ tears...sry---i will be the surrogate dad to any one who needs me!!~ YOU are all wonderful!~ We love YOU and WE are PROUD!~
