I agree Rotation weight at the speed a crawler goes will not over stress the RC. Over time it may wear out bearings and knuckles however sand dirt and water makes me change them sooner rather than later anyway.Good video I will also add lead wire around the rims to give the wheel weights more to adhere to. 👍👍
To add more weight you could have wrapped wire first then the wheel weights. If the wire is flush with the edge of the rim it would give more for the wheel weights to adhere to as well.
As some have mentioned, lead wire (solder) wound around inside the wheel "well" will give you more weight closer to the axle. I used plumbers solder 'wire'. For a crawler I don't reckon it'll harm the bearings, after all, most of us aren't doing thousands of miles with our toys. 😉

I was able to get 3 lead wires in the center grove then did 2 rows of 1/2 oz on my temper gen 2 . All i do is crawl. Be careful getting one tire wedged and trying to power out. Its better to back up and try a different angles. You will find it will ware bearings and axel joints out faster. Its the price you pay for rotating weight.
I will tell ya what i do. I fill up the tires with BBs. I mix the .177 brass with the plastic Airsoft ones so i can adjust the weight for more or less, front and back and hot glue or silicone. Its pretty permanent so get it right the first time.
I have not broken anything yet. I know people that have added 2 rings as well and are fine. It definitely helps keeps the wheels grounded and helps with traction.
Ive run weight like that on every rig I own. Never a breakage issue. Sure things break from time to time, a bound up wheel will snap an axle pretty good
Rotating mass is never the way to go, your always better off going with unsprung weight such as anything that attaches to the axles/diffs, the lower links, etc. Adding all that weight to the wheels just makes it harder to turn and puts way more stress on the steering components and drivetrain.
It's worked well for me and thousands of others if it's evenly balanced. I understand the physics behind rolling weight and agree with your point, but crawling you're going slow enough it will never harm anything. Haven't broke anything yet and performs way better.

That's a great idea! A nice way to adjust and refine exact down to the fraction of an ounce. Thanks for sharing the idea.

never add rolling weight .. bad move . weight axles not rolling mass on a crawler .
