I hate it, I'll miss 298 shots out of 300 and even when I do land hits, zero damage, I cant even hit 1k... I hit 1k in a tear 1 ship, whys this tear 10 suck so bad?

One thing I learned when I was playing with the sherman is the fact that I open up with HE and start fires before I swap to SAP. I want the enemy to DCP the fire so I can restart it and then swap to SAP to continue pummeling him while hes burning. I noticed to many sherman players not using HE and only using SAP. HE makes a huge difference when it comes down to taking a target's health pool away quickly. But thats me, I like to burn my targets and then pelt him with SAP Dakka until he is gone. and youre right. the full DPM build lacks additional smoke which really sucks but if you are playing a full gun boat build without CE and extra range (AFT) you should be fine and should be able to dodge incoming fire. I try not to play to close to the enemy also like to send torpedoes which I get a 50/50 hit on targets. but when they do they hit like a truck
I was trying the same strategy for a while, but the SAP is so good that I found it usually wasn't worth giving up the extra damage while waiting to get a fire started.

I know you think you're a great tactician but it doesn't really matter in the end. DPM does. When he DCP so what? You're firing SAP at this point it's not like he's going to need DCP again. I would rather spam with HE, make him DCP if he is dumb enough to do it so I can get a perma fire. However switching as he DCP is kind of useless.
Because of how the tickrates work in the game, a full DPM Sherman with Halsey procced will achieve maximum adrenaline rush with .86 seconds at around 70% health. In order to get a quicker reload, it needs at least 1 buff of arms race reload. At 3 reload buffs, it will max out at .57 seconds at 50% hp
I am "grinding" the coal and it definitely does not just take a couple of months.
174,000 coal is a steep hill to climb for casual players.
Is it though? Doing ~10 games a day while being in a clan (there are clans just for the extra resources), choosing more coal containers, and having the battle pass rewards (even in free tier) can give you a lot of coal. I got my Sherman after ~2.5 months.

This is why win percentage is not an accurate representation of skill unless you're sitting over 60% or under 45% imo. Anywhere in-between you're at the mercy of the gods
YEP!!!! I've seen players on losing teams stat farm in ways that actually contributed nothing to the win too. The whole system is broken but I don't even know how to begin to fix it.
To play that well and still lose has to be intensely frustrating. What a garbage team.
Just tried this set up. First game: 110k damage and a kraken. It works. Can confirm.
Great game, shame it was a loss, however I find the Sherman is really dependent on team play
Every time I try to open water in a DD i just get deleted by the whole enemy team in like 5 seconds flat. I dodge, I weave, I speed up, slow down, it doesnt matter. They delete me. Always. How, HOW DO YOU MANAGE THIS OPENWATER PLAYSTSYLE WITHOUT BEING DELETED!!!! Sorry for caps, I'm a bit frustrated....:/
Forrest Sherman has a LONG range to fire and it’s so suppressive that it kinda demoralizes enemies, on my main I rarely ever get a kill on my Japanese t7 destroyer but when I go on my friends acc with f Sherman I killed a Yamato and top tier German battleship forgot name
I just got her from a Christmas container (lucky me) fun ship but not easy to play. You need hands to get good results...

I’m more of a BB person myself, but I have Sherm, and despite her being a pig, she slaps when you really open her up. I’ll always prefer my Bama and GK though over anything.

What's max range? I'm at just under 15k. 14.8 I think if I remember correctly, can I get more range?

Ow, my back hurts. I have the Sherman, but I don't think I've played even five games with it. It's a real pig, but even my worst game (caught by radar) still was nearly 50k. You inspire me get back into it (I'm usually playing Halland or Kleber).
This ships firing rate is insane.
I absolutely love it!
Now they just need to buff it like they do Russian ships.
1. Forest Sherman turrets now turn .001% slower but fire chance will now be 60%.
2. Hit points are now upped by 12,000.
But to make up for this fire rate has been lowered by .0001 seconds.
Due to the fire rate being lowered the fire chance has been increased to 79%.

This is a perfect example of something I always say and that others can't seem to grasp. W/L is not a statistic you can use to determine the skill of a player. It is too dependant on the actions of others on your team. You could get a game like this every game but if the rest of your team tanks then there is nothing you can do.
Win rate matters over a large number of games, you represent 7% of the team, that is your window of effect, if you never fire a shot your win rate will average down to 43%, if you do great it will average up to 57% There is no way around this as you represent 7% of the team. This is over 1000s of games however.

Its torpedo tubes are in an awkward position exactly because they were supposed to be wire guided anti-submarine torpedoes. But no, game’s the other way around.

for those who want to grind coal for this ship, the battlepass(free one) gives you 33k worth of coal(steel conversion included) and the paid give another 33k on top of it. Other ways would be grinding ranked for the steal rewards to convert to coal

Ive converted some steel to two of the top DD's in the game: The Marceau and Tromp. unless youre paying the individual's account cut the BS with telling people whether or not they should convert. I did with two ships and there is nothing wrong if there are no other steel ships worth getting.

You are right, it's a personal choice by the account owner. But let me be another person to point out that WG staff are laughing as they milk your whale.
remember the 10% bonus for coal from being in a clan. Figure daily average is around 1600 for the coal containers with 160 for clan bonus so 1760 a day. do that for 100 days that is 176000 without other ways to get coal. Then the battle pass I am not sure if there will be 12 or 10 a year. It seems that 10 maybe the number with some being 35 or 28 days and the time around Christmas being longer. So, 150000 a year and 165000 with clan bonus. That is 693,000 coal on the table a year. Then there are the brawls and combat missions and other things that give coal through the year. My average coal per container is just over 540 since early December through the End of Feb 2023 and I know looking at the odds it should be closer to 500.
Good Point. If you are a DD main like I am...you might be sitting on ovber 650k coal like I do. Ok i dont have neustra,black,bazan and z44, gallant and hill. But i dont think these are worth the coal. Maybe black..but i can play chung mu with radar... and can hit torps with chung.. ok i dont have the radar combo, but you can play in a div with a fletcher smoke to do radar+smoke combo, problem solved. And im sitting on 47k steel..wanted to buy the z-42 but WG nerfed it a bit to much and i dont see the point for buying it over z-52 (imo).
I really think wg should do something about dmg being received when it comes to ships like the sherman.
It's kind of stupid that a dd that doesnt take a lot of dmg, no matter what you shoot it with (other shermans and SAP cruisers are the exception) can sit at 16km and out-gun bbs and high-dpm cruisers (jinan for example).
Sherman is just a ship that rewards idiots since you can basically sit in the open, and farm for free without any punishment whatsoever.
Lol you clearly have never played a Sherman. You can't "just sit in the open" and expect to not die.
@@AdamtheRed- a person with a decent amount of reading and understanding capacity should know an exaggeration when he sees one. Of course you can't sit still in the open. But even if you fail at dodging once in a while you don't really get punished most of the times because cruisers and bbs tend to get fucked by dispersion as soon as they shoot something that's more than 5km away (beware, that also was an exaggeration)

bud. if you gave a BB Sherman DPM it would be the most OP ship in the game. There's no way you think DD concealment makes F Sherman better than a BB+Sherman guns. You could charge into any cap and melt the enemy team, dev striking them every 30 seconds as they turn around trying to run away. Just because a BB has a citadel doesn't mean it's worse, it's really easy to not get citadeled in a BB lol
In fact this is the opposite of pay2win, this is free2win.

because throwing himself at the enemy would've gotten him 8 kills and 250k damage, right? He complains because it's a boring way to play the game, not because it's ineffective. In fact it's so effective everyone does it, which leads to boring games, which is why he complains about it.
It's kind of the way World of Warships is designed to be played though.
Until WG development staff actually gets competent...we have to play with what they give us.
