  • Immediately after the official unveiling of the new Mazda CX-30, we got a chance to go for a test drive that took us all the way to Bentong and back. Along the way, we took a short detour to check out the ride and handling of the new SUV that slots in between the CX-3 and the CX-5. Watch the video and see how it rides and corners.

    Good info, Mr Khong since you have tested both Mazda 3 and CX 30, which one would you recommend in terms of "comfort, handling and power" between the two (Mazda 3 n Cx 30). Thank you.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For comfort, immediately the Sedan or hatch wins over SUV. Handling too, as the sedan is lower. Power also as there is better power to weight ratio.

    Although having paddle shifter is better as safety features for emergency engine braking and spirited driving , I would still prefer the short , solid , sport. shift feel of a Mazda skyaxtiv automatic transmission rather than the paddle shifter

    Hi uncle YS, CX30 2.0 High vs Mazda 3 High Plus Liftback. How would you choose? Having hard time deciding between the two.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sounds like you like the sedan but someone said you should take the SUV. The Sedan is a bit more fun and is a bit faster because it is lighter. But if you are just a normal person who likes to go fast just once in a while the CX 30 is fine. You should test drive both on the same road and then make a choice. Each has its merits.

    • @YSKhongDriving

      No paddle shifters in this variant, but because they need to keep costs down to get more sales.

    G-V-C plus which this new Mazda is equipped is working very well as you mentioned in your driving analysis. I'm impressed the way YSKhong is testing the driving dynamics of this new CX-30. Mazda should introduce the paddle shifter in all variants, it doesn't cost so much, why not make your fans happy even just buying the base model. Great video as always it's so exciting.🏎🏎🏎👌👌👌🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

      Thanks Johnny for your kind comments. At least they take the trouble to spec down this unit to make it more affordable. According to studies made, most people will not even use the paddle shifters; this is why they delete them. Every ringgit saved counts. Actually I like paddles, but I can live without them.

      YS Khong Driving Uncle YS will the AWD version improve the handling since body roll is more obvious? It’s on torsion beam as compared to CX-5 multi-link, and everyone is praising CX-5 handling (before CX-30 was launched)

      @@YSKhongDriving Hello. I recently discovered your videos and I must say, it's refreshing to hear on-the-road drive and handling reviews from an ex-champion racer. One thing I'm curious over is whether there are any significant differences between a rear torsion beam vs multi-link or double wishbone set-up, for the average driver and for passenger comfort?

    • @YSKhongDriving

      CX30 is a bit faster, but XV probably has a higher limit due to its AWD system. Depends whether the driver can drive to the limit or not.

  • @yewbtang1848
    @yewbtang1848 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Uncle, what do you mean when you say the rear tucks in when you are cornering? I am really curious what that feels like. Some other reviewers say the car pivots when cornering and it gives them a sharper steering feel. I understand the Megane also exhibits the same characteristic and it is due to superior torsion beam design. However, isn't that a bit like an oversteer in a rear wheel drive car and isn't that a bad thing in a way?

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It helps the car to turn, but in a progressive kind of way; and no, it would s not dangerous. I think the reaction is proportionate to the speed. Helps to cut down the understeer, and GVC plus helps by braking on outer wheels if you overcook it. So overall, it feels very responsive. However, in our test we only felt it kick in once, and both of us felt it.

    @yongrin246 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi uncle Khong.. I need to ask your opinion. Thinking to buy cx30, however a bit confuse. Which is better to get between cx30 2.0 awd vs 1.8d ?
    I'm a fan of speed. But a bit suprise of 118hp of 1.8d.. will it underpower for overtake, hill climbing and speeding?

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the diesel and gasoline engines are very similar, so you can take either the gasoline or diesel. Off hand I would think the gasoline engine would be more powerful overall, if you like speed.

    • @yongrin246
      @yongrin246 4 ปีที่แล้ว
