I've spent hundreds of dollars on this game and still wasn't relevant in my kingdom. This game defines what P2W means. Yes, other games want you to spend money, but with this game, if you don't spend money, you actually run the risk of getting zeroed, meaning you'll lose everything that you've worked for. What I'm about to say next is crucial to understanding this game. Eventually, I reached 10 million power. Ok so, how did I reach this point. You need to check your kingdom on a regular basis throughout the day to collect resources. Add to that you need to spend 3-4 hours daily joining your alliance to raid barbarians, which technically means, your getting levels and items etc. I also spent real money to buy packages to participate in events that rewards you with champion sculptures which is crucial to the building up your army. Let's say I've been doing the above for a month. After a long day of "successful" kingdom management, you log off before you go to sleep. You wake up the next day and what happens? You've been zeroed. Some asian alliance in your kingdom was not happy about something or just felt like picking on your alliance so they decide to attack yours including all your alliances cities. You've basically lost everything, you've worked for during that month. Some will disagree, that you keep your research, the resource farm level etc etc. But guess what, you've lost the most important elements. Your troops which you've been building up for a month. So what do you need to do? Spend money to build up your army. Basically, in this game, if you don't spend money, you actually lose not only the money but even your time that you've spent in the game. It's the worst system I've seen in any game. You pick up a game to enjoy, but then becomes an activity that tugs on your fear and anxiety to spend time and money.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the game, I appreciate it! I could have done with a section of the review interviewing long term players of the game to get an inside look of the later gameplay, but will pin this comment as a substitute

So I have some words on this game I know I’m late but I have spent ehhh maybe a few thousand dollars on RoK I was sucked in and preyed on just like the target audience of this game… I still play and enjoy my friends I’ve made in my kingdom and alliance but that’s it right there those people are the people who keep me playing. I’ve been able to stop my spending almost completely but still the game is ridden with anxiety and fear of trying to spend to stay high in the leaderboards. The game becomes such a wall that will force you to spend to get passed that wall or wait months and months of dedicating yes your life to this game it will take every hour of the day maybe not actively playing but thinking about what could be going on in your alliance. BE CAREFUL if you thinking of installing rok just please don’t get sucked in like I did…
I’m sure Rise of Kingdoms is one of those games that encapsulates everything bad with mobile games. You play one, you’ve played them all. Also, screw you for leaving the “skip ad” things in. I unintentionally paused this vid more times than I’d like to admit. Pavlovian reflex lol And of course I get a Rise of Kingdoms ad before playing this vid.
You honestly cannot even say you’ve played the game unless you’ve played through or even past KvK 1. So you really can’t make an actual review. That being said, it definitely is an extremely time consuming game that basically requires you to spend money to enjoy and achieve anything in a timely manner. It’s really not worth it for most people to even get into. It’s definitely not worth it for you to play just so you can make a review. Only people who already are getting into playing it by choice, should be making any type of review on it. I don’t blame you for not wanting to waste your time. But you have absolutely no right to say the game is bad or not good. You really shouldn’t be saying anything other than you don’t feel like putting the time in to make a review for it, and explain why. I suppose you can also criticize the beginning of the game, but that’s only a very tiny tiny part of the game. I don’t appreciate you making a review about something you know nothing about. And Yes, the adds are just blatantly horrible and don’t reflect the actual game in any way. That is accurate, you are obviously right to be complaining about that lol. It should probably be against some kind of rule to make such misleading or straight up false adds.
Yeah that's fair enough. You've seen my reply on a similar comment already so I won't repeat myself, but I still felt it was worth making a review. It's worth bearing in mind that the only people that would have played the amount of hours necessary to properly review this game would have had to enjoyed it enough to play that far, meaning anyone wanting to make a negative review wouldnt be bothered to. I may put a pinned comment up or something to explain I'm only reviewing the beginning of the game so people know what to expect. Thanks for watching though
Basically, what you're saying is that a game can be good, but you need to spend hundreds of dollars before you reach that point. For most people, any game like that isn't good from the getgo especially when you can get zeroed and lose all your progression. So never mind other other elements within the game, nobody wants to buy a $1000 cake when they can enjoy $30 cake just as much.
Yes they can if a game doesn’t give ample fun at the start its not good game and you can review it everyone complains about playing enough for a proper review but they don’t take into account that why would any one waste their time playing a game that doesn’t give ample fun at the start
It's actually sometimes a mix of the two for the ads. Like the line levels where you have to do insanely basic maths to get more soldiers, the games don't actually play like that.
The beginning is what is slow. First 2 months of your account will be upgrading and gathering troops for kvk( kingdom vs kingdom). Kvk is the whole point of this game. I agree it’s very pay to win. But the core gameplay is kvk.
Yes, you may win your first kvk by being p2w like luckily getting more whales in your kingdom than in other regions but in the next kvks it is already seeded depending on the kingdom power so having whales won't really help a lot since they can't win against an entire kingdom that's really active and organized. But yeah this game is a spender bait. Every other update forces you to spend but totally playable f2p if you know what yoy are doing and is patient enough to save resources for important events.
@@nattacka the problem is with how stupendously pay to win the game is. A new commander meta every season, the necessity of t5 troops to even survive and the amount of grind that doesn’t even pay off. Especially if you are a f2p player, you have to sacrifice a large amount of your time into grinding the game just to stay in an alliance. All in all its a stupid time consuming game that doesn’t reward you unless you are p2w.
@@dl_hs4315 but the you have to remember that thr game has been on for more than 3 years so a lot of people has already got everything settled and they have to make updates to keep them from leaving the game which makes it hard for new players but will eventually catch up in about a year of active gameplay or a month of credit card swiping lmao.
well i think you make some good points, but a few things. • like others said, its really playing it for awhile that makes it fun • there are other things you can do early on early game, you can have whole wars with other alliances and there are tons of events. i get the thing about it being a grindy game, but grinding is somewhat fun too. when you dive a bit deeper into the game, you can see how its a lot more fun. its really built around alliances and is not an individual game the goal of it is that your kingdom will progress unlocking more and more things for alliances to take and interact with as stronger alliances emerge which will then lead that kingdom into kvk (kingdom vs kingdom). at this point kvk is the biggest part of rok (which is why its called that, before kvk was added it was called rise of civilizations), and kvk is where you do most of your fighting, reward earning, and have fun. the game is built around grinding, but like i said earlier, the grinding is fun for some people. also, the core of the game takes a more committed and experienced approach to really understand. however, like everything in the world, its a select interest, and of course everyone is entitled to their opinions. also, every experienced rok player agrees the adds are pure shit. none of them represent the game, its stupid, but the game is actually fun. although, i did enjoy your review. like i said earlier, everyone is entitled to their opinions. edit: (i forgot one thing!) it is a pay to win game. but the entire game is centered around alliances and kingdoms, which is more than just a couple players. there will always be a dominant whale alliance, it depends on their ruling and leadership. f2p players with the right strategies can always contribute in many ways, and after playing for awhile can migrate to newer kingdoms where they can be stronger. certainly better if your p2w, but f2p is manageable.
What triggers me most is the historical inaccuracies the ads contain, Imma list em out for simplicity. 1. Pilums are romans spears specifically designed for throwing, not stabbing 2.Tyrene’s (I forgot the spelling cuz I’m brainded and making this past 10pm) are a greek ship, not Spaniard 3. they need to learn the difference between Roman’s and greeks 4. Vikings did not have horns on their helmets 5. wtf is with the world map 6. Phalanxes did not include forming a sphere like formation to block arrows etc. I probably forgot more but I’m just pissed, and also what the hell is with those descriptions, this faction is better cuz this, bro each civilisation in the past had it’s ups and downs, but come on, I seriously want to punch the game’s Devs because they offend my very existence. -Some historical nerd that plays the total war games and reads online

I was toying with playing this game but thanks for your review, actually enjoyed watching this and you have swayed me to not getting anymore of these "RTS base building" games.
It sucks so much, playing for years still makes you early game if you dont have 50 milion power and the top commanders, it takes 5 hours minimum to do a part of your daily tasks, and if you get into a kingdom with one clearly ruling kingdom, they will kick you out of the clan you're in, destroy it and make an alliance for "newbies" that requires 5 million more power than you have
In my opinion rise of kingdoms is a great and well developed game when you understand it although its ads department are kinda trash ngl it has a great community ive been playing for over 2 years now and so far its a good experience would recommend although its is p2w in some regards you can have fun as f2p
7:09 To be fair, it absoloutely does ram adds down your face every few minutes, just not duringthe actual game Honestly playing rise of kingdoms sounds like the best way to get a brake from all the rise of kingdoms I'm being forced to bear witness to
Rise of kingdoms is fun if you play it for along time I've made many friends in the game also when you have played a long time you can go into the lost kingdom where you have to fight to conquer structures and there will be more strategy
Yeah, the early game is absolutely boring, I won't lie. But the point of playing this game is for 'kvk' where you take all this time and planing and fight other de gens. Absolutely mint. But you really have to get a in depth experience and get In touch with the community to like it.
If you don't like this game is beacouse you are not putting your attention in the right spot, it is not a fun game, i am a f2p i know, but it is fun to play if you interact with your friends and allays
Big agree I used to play this game as F2P for a decent period of time(past kvk1) quit because have no time to stay active(required as F2P) but this game will always have special place in my heart simply game that I enjoy the most out of all the game I played l wish I have enough time to give this game another shot if you can't stay relevant as F2P or even spenders in KVK1(don't know about KVK2 or more) you either don't have at least 1.5 hour daily to play or do something wrong with this logic imagine what someone who play 4-6 hour+ a day that min max everything can do(me at that time) right just crushing someone who spend 500$+ make them think I might pay more than them overall this game is for no lifer or rich dude you will have hard time enjoy if you're not either of those but if you're one this game is for you and yes I decided to touch more grass than last time after KVK1
Kind of weird actually, this game looked okay and fun when I first played it. But over time passed it basically became tedious. I still play it because I have a good alliance with good people who I love talking to, but it’s not a game worth going into. If u have a good leader, players who will help u through dire times, u might play for a bit. I don’t recommend it to anyone.
RoK is a pretty good game! I really enjoyed it but it’s one of the most pay of win games I’ve played and they could simply fix that by making a server where you can’t pay to win, but they aren’t.. Almost everyone pays money in the game when I played and it’s super time consuming. This completely ruined the game and wouldn’t play it unless you’re ready to pay tons of money to have fun!
Everything said in this video is true. This game is the purest from of P2W. Because you can spend hundreds or even thousands of USD in this game and can still not be that relevant. In this game there are so many aspects of this game that is so P2W. While developing you will have to wait for literally years just so you cab get T5. I’ve played ROK for over 2 years and I’m still stuck on T4. I calculated a lot pf the research and without the use of speedups or anything. You will have to spend 14 years. And that is just the level 10 military research. There is also economy and upgrading buildings. And you can spend thousands of dollars and still be zeroed (All your troops killed) And there is nothing you can do to get it back. I have been zeroed around 3 times, there is also an instance where a person that spends $200k+ on his ROK account only to get zeroed and you can’t get your troops back. If that is not P2W I don’t know what is.
It’s heyday collided in together with like it’s Hay Day is a car with Clash of Clans and it’s like a you can choose different people kind of three games. I don’t know what the third game y’all can make up what it is and think what it is.
Hello you started your account in a old kingdom basically what you have to do is go to the kingdom made like a day ago and it has so many tasks wars and fun things
TO anyone watching this, I would highly recommend this game. This gentleman has his opinion and to that he hasn't played it enough to see what end game content is, or what it looks like. You dont have to Pay to play the game like he did say , there are some guilds who do spend a butt ton of money and u can get free vip points. There is a lot of leveling and depending on what type of kingdom you join you will need resources, but it can be a job on itself but very fun.

Played it like 2 yrs ago and I kinda liked it But the city building was trashy but ngle it was very rewarding Not sure my phone would run it but would like to try it again
To be fair. What you played, most would call the "very early game." Like the extended tutorial. I'd say, the game starts when you maxed out the city, which is kinda bad, but it is what it is. Takes roughly a ywar for the game to start and you need to know what you are doing for that whole year. Otherwise, it's gonna be a horrible experience. I'm not sure, how the state of the early game is right now, but 200k power are like a week or half a week as a f2p if you now what you're doing, but I'm not sure. In short, the game is about everything but city building. But I definitely don't blame you for that. Your review is very accurate for the normal consumer.
I've played Rise of Kingdoms for 2 years now. My final overall power was 75M. In all honesty. It was a regret. You can't stop spending if you want to compete. Even the "gacha" mechanic on this game are horrendous! Not to mention the possibility of being ruled by a tyrant and incompetent "king" ... you're lucky if and only if your king only demanded you to be active. My kingdom 1857 fell out of touch and are crumbling a part because of this, becoming a "ghost-kingdom" in the process. Well deserved...
I didn't have to play that long to understand that this game will be a major waste of my time because I got zeroed pretty early on in the game and by early I mean spending few months. Then after getting zeroed, I realized the futility of playing this game without spending thousands of dollars just to be relevant and compete with other players.
@nattacka Straight up lie. Unless you're hacking it... but still hacking is doubted to be working since most of the game assets are server sided... LMAO

I've seen ads for it, could definitely tell the game would be nothing like it lol
It's either a rise of kingdoms clone, or a fallout shelter clone
I suppose I agree with you but the fun of the game is in the grind and commitment you give, it feels so good when you do anything
uhuh
If I wanted to just grind a game I’d play an Idle Game, if I play a RTS, I want to get straight into the action
Fun fact: most of rts mechanics of these fake ads are from age of empires combined with imagination
BE CAREFUL if you thinking of installing rok just please don’t get sucked in like I did…
I wanted to "skip" the ads all the time
Hahaha sorry about that
@@PurpleStreak i will never forgive you
There are gatekeepers who call all the shots. And if you don't play there way u can't move to the next stage.
I do like the alliance system and the chatting system in rise of kingdoms
I’m sure Rise of Kingdoms is one of those games that encapsulates everything bad with mobile games. You play one, you’ve played them all.
Also, screw you for leaving the “skip ad” things in. I unintentionally paused this vid more times than I’d like to admit. Pavlovian reflex lol
And of course I get a Rise of Kingdoms ad before playing this vid.
At 0:15 I put a bit of text on screen because I absolutely knew people would try and skip the ads haha.
Well, didn't work for me because I'm from another country
@@muCephei_ yep
You forgot about where the upgrades take 125 days yes real days of waiting
It's actually sometimes a mix of the two for the ads. Like the line levels where you have to do insanely basic maths to get more soldiers, the games don't actually play like that.
The beginning is what is slow. First 2 months of your account will be upgrading and gathering troops for kvk( kingdom vs kingdom). Kvk is the whole point of this game. I agree it’s very pay to win. But the core gameplay is kvk.
2 months just to have fun… why would anyone who isn’t a masochist just play another game a game isn’t like life
Yes, you may win your first kvk by being p2w like luckily getting more whales in your kingdom than in other regions but in the next kvks it is already seeded depending on the kingdom power so having whales won't really help a lot since they can't win against an entire kingdom that's really active and organized. But yeah this game is a spender bait. Every other update forces you to spend but totally playable f2p if you know what yoy are doing and is patient enough to save resources for important events.
If I have to wait like 2 months before the actual pvp and online aspects start why would they think I'll keep it downloaded
Someone gets it
@@PurpleStreak its supposed to be a game that you play on the side, im playing skyrim again at the same time
@@nattacka but their are better side games

Sir you got yourself another sub
well i think you make some good points, but a few things.
• like others said, its really playing it for awhile that makes it fun
• there are other things you can do early on
early game, you can have whole wars with other alliances and there are tons of events. i get the thing about it being a grindy game, but grinding is somewhat fun too. when you dive a bit deeper into the game, you can see how its a lot more fun. its really built around alliances and is not an individual game
the goal of it is that your kingdom will progress unlocking more and more things for alliances to take and interact with as stronger alliances emerge which will then lead that kingdom into kvk (kingdom vs kingdom).
at this point kvk is the biggest part of rok (which is why its called that, before kvk was added it was called rise of civilizations), and kvk is where you do most of your fighting, reward earning, and have fun.
the game is built around grinding, but like i said earlier, the grinding is fun for some people. also, the core of the game takes a more committed and experienced approach to really understand. however, like everything in the world, its a select interest, and of course everyone is entitled to their opinions.
also, every experienced rok player agrees the adds are pure shit. none of them represent the game, its stupid, but the game is actually fun.
although, i did enjoy your review. like i said earlier, everyone is entitled to their opinions.
edit: (i forgot one thing!)
it is a pay to win game. but the entire game is centered around alliances and kingdoms, which is more than just a couple players. there will always be a dominant whale alliance, it depends on their ruling and leadership. f2p players with the right strategies can always contribute in many ways, and after playing for awhile can migrate to newer kingdoms where they can be stronger. certainly better if your p2w, but f2p is manageable.
Yep
My mind has programmed to click the skip the ad button and I was freaking out on autopilot
What triggers me most is the historical inaccuracies the ads contain, Imma list em out for simplicity.
1. Pilums are romans spears specifically designed for throwing, not stabbing
2.Tyrene’s (I forgot the spelling cuz I’m brainded and making this past 10pm) are a greek ship, not Spaniard
3. they need to learn the difference between Roman’s and greeks
4. Vikings did not have horns on their helmets
5. wtf is with the world map
6. Phalanxes did not include forming a sphere like formation to block arrows
etc. I probably forgot more but I’m just pissed, and also what the hell is
with those descriptions, this faction is better cuz this, bro each civilisation
in the past had it’s ups and downs, but come on, I seriously want to punch
the game’s Devs because they offend my very existence.

I got a rise of kingdoms ad before the video started
I despise Rise of Kingdoms solely because they depict Iceland as being 100% covered in ice... It's Greenland that is 80% ice. Iceland is only about 11% covered in ice.
I was toying with playing this game but thanks for your review, actually enjoyed watching this and you have swayed me to not getting anymore of these "RTS base building" games.
I am playing rise of kingdoms for 2 years and its really good and one of the best in the genre
You are BOT ACCOUNT....
nope am not xD
I go a rise of kingdoms ad when I was watching
So I click on this video watch a good portion of it and out of no where a rise of kingdom ad pops up!
I swear Google knows to much!
01:04 Did anyone else try to press Skip ad on the screen?
It sucks so much, playing for years still makes you early game if you dont have 50 milion power and the top commanders, it takes 5 hours minimum to do a part of your daily tasks, and if you get into a kingdom with one clearly ruling kingdom, they will kick you out of the clan you're in, destroy it and make an alliance for "newbies" that requires 5 million more power than you have
When you get to city hall 21 and are in a good kingdom the game is a blast a d Lilith is always pushing out updates
LM equal, except for receive attacks of 1B of power players kk
In my opinion rise of kingdoms is a great and well developed game when you understand it although its ads department are kinda trash ngl it has a great community ive been playing for over 2 years now and so far its a good experience would recommend although its is p2w in some regards you can have fun as f2p
The gameplay looks so boring
@@mark-jf5ik have you played yourself though

To be fair, it absoloutely does ram adds down your face every few minutes, just not duringthe actual game
Honestly playing rise of kingdoms sounds like the best way to get a brake from all the rise of kingdoms I'm being forced to bear witness to
Rise of kingdoms is fun if you play it for along time I've made many friends in the game also when you have played a long time you can go into the lost kingdom where you have to fight to conquer structures and there will be more strategy
Same. I think this guy is a rookie who hasn't played for a long enough time to have a strong opinion.
In the end the fun stuff is not playng but interacting in the alliance
Was I the only one who tried to click the “skip ad” button when the clips of the ads showed up?
Rise of kingdoms is the best game I have ever played .
@Ronald McDonaldtrump why
@@Flattithefish Because it’s a bad P2W game
I like the mini games that have on it. They have special events and alliance events that are fun once you advance into higher levels.
Is agree i like the game because of the high amounts of possibilities you can do
Kind of weird actually, this game looked okay and fun when I first played it. But over time passed it basically became tedious. I still play it because I have a good alliance with good people who I love talking to, but it’s not a game worth going into. If u have a good leader, players who will help u through dire times, u might play for a bit. I don’t recommend it to anyone.
so dumb its fun af
For me this game is a lot of fun
thanks for the warning. Any recommendations?
As a RoK player of 1k plus days, loved this vid. 😂
560 days here lol it’s still fire
WTF “FOR ALL AGES”
Their ads are all over youtube again literally every single ad is just this game now
Greetings! Can you please make a video about "Kingdom Maker"? Thanks!
It’s heyday collided in together with like it’s Hay Day is a car with Clash of Clans and it’s like a you can choose different people kind of three games. I don’t know what the third game y’all can make up what it is and think what it is.
Ads make game look kinda fun but I got tired of the ads so I came to watch this
I found without the ads the first time I played it I think it’s fun.
Hello you started your account in a old kingdom basically what you have to do is go to the kingdom made like a day ago and it has so many tasks wars and fun things
The way the people in the ads speak doesn’t even line up with the audio
You need to play further in for fun and make sure your in a new server join an alliance and it’ll be a bit more fun
There is a lot of leveling and depending on what type of kingdom you join you will need resources, but it can be a job on itself but very fun.
thank you SO much for telling me what i needed to know in the first 3 seconds
I got two rise of kingdoms ads watching this video

I fr thought that I got a rise of kingdoms ad
U know that mafia city ads always pop up in utube...
The alliance recommendation are wrong it’s just the best to weakest alliance
Rise of kingdoms is like civilization 1 - 6 but they removed all the fun out of it
Watching the campaign is like watching Overwatch in its current state
The fact I got an ad for this game is ironic
You should try out this game called World War armies it's not a goofy mapo game it's actually a true RTS mobile game
Bro right when I saw the video had an ad for rise of kingdoms 🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
@Ramza At this point, I wish I was you...
ive spent nothing and im dominating it
@nattacka Straight up lie. Unless you're hacking it... but still hacking is doubted to be working since most of the game assets are server sided... LMAO
