Salusalu is a floral garland. In Indigenous Fijian culture or Indigenous Pacific culture in general if you receive a salusalu it means the person loves and values you. A floral garland is considered precious, beautiful, one of kind, etc. He is comparing his mother to a salusalu (floral garland). It’s a deep song of appreciation for his mum.
