the HD is awesome..
actually, it has been "charted" many times using echo sounding and probes. Heck, we have been down there before (Don Walsh anyone?) Though its not exact, what else in google earth is exact?

kinda pointless but this is just one of those things that Google says "we did it because we can !" Its one of those things that looks cool for at a max 2mins then your like okay lets do something else.

I am a Trekker or Hiker. I've always loved to explore the land, being it the desert SW where I was raised, or the Lincoln National Forest outside of Alamorgo, NM. Moving to NW MT at 22 in 1974 opened up a new world of trekking. I'm 30 miles from Glacier Natl. Park & 734 mi of marked trails. I have hiked Glacier ever since, & I'm very excited about Google's project of mapping the trails of our parks. Currently doing the Grand Canyon, I wish I could be involved in Glaciers mapping. This is GREAT!!

as long as they stick to their mission statement "Don't be evil" I'm fine with that. They have after all done SO much good in the world, and all for free. But not many people stay good when they become too powerful.

Wow my computer cant even display underneath the ocean. I dont know exactly why but I think this ocean feature requires quite a recent graphics card. My computer and graphics card is very old.

All this tech and I still can't see my home town on New Waterford N.S., Canada on Google Earth. The whole frickin' planet is wide open and my hood is a baige blur.
of course water physics suck, it will be a while before they get a 100% realistic 3d model of earth you know, lol
they fact they give you the option of physics is a nice feature

try turning on ocean and terrian, and if that doesnt work try going out father into the ocean and if that doesnt work make shure you have 5.0 Godbless :)

the corniest google video yet, but the new feature is kind of cool. they need to bring back videos where it is just the program and a narrator

Type in the name of the underwater lab in your google earth search bar, they give the name in the video Godbless and Jesus loves you :)
Well as soon as google starts to release ai's "Artificial intelligence" and "robotic people" or just robots than ill really be worried.
Your video card isn't good enuff then, if you really want to see better graphics on your computer buy a better graphics card.

I can't wait to take a GEOQUIZ! This is crazy though, children with this stuff are going to spend too much time researching oceans and be forced to ignore other subjects and even topics within the realm of oceanography!

Sylvia Earle is one of the National Geographic Explorers in Residence, she holds several diving records and numerous awards. "Google" her name and learn more. Most importantly for this topic, as she said, she met the founder of Google Earth and challenged him to produce a tool for the oceans portion of our planet. That efforts has become the new and growing ocean layer. Breakthrough tech for the 70% of our planet that is not land. Cool stuff.
