Frank Ollis, when you will have achieved some skills on tenor banjo or mandocello, you can always think about buying an Irish bouzouki, 66,2 centimeters scale lenght, and you can tune it A D G C, all you have to do is change the strings and the nut for proper strings gauge. If you go on my channel you can see mine, is an electric bouzouki, but i have the acoustic too, search for Hora instruments, they are made in Romania, good sound for a good price ,trust me ! Greetings from Italy, Patrick
well done. I have just started this piece on my cello banjo after a few years away from the cello and a car accident made it impossible to hold a bow. I am using some different fingerings and its sound very much like a cello but has its own timbre. I miss the last 8 measures on the cello and have been making due. I love the CEB4 and you obviously have great skill in making Bach sound rather cool on this instrument. Many Thanks
You have a lot of heart in the way you play this song and it's lovely to see the way it makes you smile! My favourite piece to play on cello but what a great sound on banjo!
I bought one of these things and ended up making it into a guitar banjo. It makes a much better instrument as a guitar than a cello. As a matter of fact It was the first banjo that Gibson ever made in 1920 as the GB-3. They came out with their first tenor banjo in 1921 as the TB-1. In 1921 they first offered the cello banjo. If they really wanted to make a fretted cello they should have started with at least a twenty seven inch scale. The scale is standard Gibson guitar scale after all.
Truly outstanding. was wondering what tuning you use. This is definitely on my "want" list. very impressed with what gold tone is doing.. I really like the 4 string model..
WHOA!!....Better late to the party than never.....Have played (badly) the tenor banjo since 1958 when I started lessons....Have a couple of banjers and an octive mando....Gotta add a cello banjer to my collection and find somebody to attempt to teach me how to play'em correctly....Thanks for tabs (can read music, but tabs are sooo much easier...)....Would like to learn 'surf guitar' riffs on the cello banjer....;o)
*combining two of my favorite things in such a beautiful and natural way*
"Cello music on a cello banjo...well, I never. It is certainly fun to play." ....and amazing to hear !
I’m learning to play the banjo, but the cello is my favorite sound. This put a smile on my face that won’t go away. Thank you.

You've had that about a year now. How do you like it? Do you play it a lot? I love the sound of it!

Besides string gauge what are the differences between the 'Cello' banjo and the tenor banjo? :-D Made my day, hahaha 'have you ever' hha
Regular banjos have 5 strings
AaronisJChrist not the tenor
tenor banjo is an octave up
You pick a pretty mean Banjo.

That Bach dude, he was pretty good, eh?
Not in tune, sorry…
