I've always known that you are top-notch player, but this is something out of this world, Hera. It is unbelievable how composed and calm you've grown recently. RESPECT!
Man, this had all the classic Hera plays, queuing castle age behind two vils, housing himself, microing 2 units in the back of the opponents base. Aside from checking the tech tree we had the full house.
I feel like what a lot of people miss about the difference between good players and the really top level players isn't how well they play at their best, but how consistently they can actually deliver their best.

I'm so conflicted. It's like watching your ex girlfriend and your new girlfriend throwdown in the street. The Huskarl in me is shouting "Dont take that ish!". The Kipachaka in me is screaming "Show that B**** why I left her for you!" The no stone wall matchup is intersting too. Being used to the Goths not having stone walls probably made the transition to Cumans a lot easier for me. Still trying to mimic that awesome Cuman style Hera has. Gonna keep studying the master!
Man, I'm so glad ur back playing aoe2. You're by far my favorite player and I was sort of griefing when u announced u were leaving. That game right there is why! Awesome stuff, any mortal would have resigned at the first castle drop
Hey, so I'm pretty new to the game; can I please ask why you chose not to use your scouts around the 12:30 mark to kill the Mangonels before the Castle dropped? It looked to me like the mangonels were vulnerable, the villagers were exposed, I know I personally would have tried to take them out but obviously I'm not as experienced as you, so what's the deal there?
Apparently after watching this game and those to unique units fighting against the mangonel min 27 -29 i may just have decided to stop playing and just watching. Amazing man!
Wait when he says "I have 4 villagers on wood, that should never be the case" is that for all civs in all situations? Coz my build order with most civs literally goes first 6 on food, next 4 on wood then other stuff, am I doing it wrong?
I think that Vinch could have made more vills + TC after the first castle and then he would have more eco to mass produce huskarls +pikes later, Hera's eco was great so he won it in the end + Hera is a level above Vin
These situations for me never play out this way. MAA into archer spam into castle drop always leaves me with 0 options in either feudal or castle age. A death ball of 20+ crossbowmen with minimal micro shreds everything including mangonels. Scouts and knights are stupid in fighting archers and get out microed. Literally makes no sense how someone on horseback can't seem to catch up and hit someone on foot, then just get one shotted.
I feel like I'm missing something, but why didn't you make skirms along with your scouts or even archers when you were being pressured by crossbows and spears? Also, why did he build the forward castles and didn't really follow through afterwards?
I know this is 8 months old but considering the only other reply is saying it’s staged, the actual reason is most likely because when you haven’t planned on doing something it’s kinda hard to swap into it, he didn’t have the ranges or archery upgrades, in situations like this the cost and time it would take to put up one or two ranges and get upgrades while also not making men to defend would give the attacker far too big of a lead to ever come back, scouts with upgrades and some micro can handle spearman decently enough and they trade very well against crossbowmen considering the cost. The reason why the opponent didn’t really do anything after the castles is because he got to castle and dropped 3 castles, the villagers taken off resources + the amount of stuff that would have needed to be sold to buy the stone or just villagers on stone that you would normally have on other things would have left him with no economy to really do anything afterwards he probably didn’t intend on the game continuing past it.
I HAVE THE MOST DIFFICULT TIME DEFENDING AGAINST 6 TO 7 ARCHS THEY JUST GO AROUND MY BASE AND KILL EVERY VILL AROUND AND I AM NOT EVEN GOOD AT MANAGING MY ECO AT SUCH TENSE AND MR HERA just defends by a difference of 3k in score against 3 and half castles is it me or i think mr hera needs a nerf btw love your content and respect you sorry for my word choice still 14 yrs old
Steppe Husbandry Light Cav and Steppe Lancer out produced Goth in Castle Age and Cuman have a lot better Ecos so if Vin goes for an all in Huskarl Pike push he just gonna push back and loses much harder
@@tengu6160 He had 2 castles before Hera clicked Castle age. I meant instead of going heavy on stone, if he had gone for Huskarls and pikes while Hera was still in feudal. Plus Lancers are only good for raiding or taking out small feudal armies or skirms. Otherwise they're not cost-effective.
I really think that instead of 3 castles if winchester have gone for more huscarls and pikemen hera wont stand a chance. I mean, the dude almost have no army at all. Yeah i know heras raids where cool but there is just any way to stop.huskarls with just lightcab and kipchaps
vinch blundered really bad when he forced that tc, i wouldve called it there tbh idk why he went for 3 forward castles tho, lost his mangos for free, after the 2nd castle he could have gone pikeman mango/ram push or castle home and huskarl boom before u could mass kipchaks wp hera
Agree. Hera played amazingly well in this game, no doubt. However, Vinchester choked hard and unnecessarily lost his unprotected expensive mangoes. The game could have been very different if Vin did not throw away his mangoes like that.
If you think about it, this guy didn't really pressure him that hard. Castle drops aint shit without serious unit accompaniment. He had some dumb magonels and some daft xbows. A couple of knights raiding would have been serious but dis kid just was pooping around. Woopty doo Hera. Play a real boy.
