- This is a improvised variant. Basically the tail and the rib is same in the pattern than in the original. MATERIALS:
Size 8-12 wet fly hook
Any thread color in theme of the materials, brown, black, blue, yellow...
Tail Golden pheasant crest
Grey black mix wool body. (seals fur in the original iirc)
Round silver rib
Ring-neck pheasant hackle dyed "chatterer" blue(og uses blue jay i think, which is illegal where i live)
Tan gadwall feather for wing (og uses bronze mallard? gadwall is nice because the pattern is usually pretty strong)
Great talent you have, thank you for posting.I had commented on the vise jaws before and it would be interesting how that was done.Anyone else commented on that?
Thank you very much. Some have asked the make of the vise and I usually just give a bland answer, "i just re-shaped it with a file". that being said, I have another set of jaws for my old vise that need reshaping, I suppose I could make a video of it. thanks for the suggestion
Fabulous work. Thanks.
THANX FOR THE PATTERN TJ. I'm a fan of your site and tye a lot of your patterns .I've been tying for over 55+ yrs. I still love tying and fishing. Your version of the Caddis Pupa ws very successful for me this year. Tight lines & happy tying. Last week I purchase Pheasant crest and a Whiting King Fisher blue cape so I have every thing I need .
Hi. Glad you enjoy the patterns and have success with them. thank you for watching the videos. merry tying and happy new years of fishing!
