I was up at Skull Asylum Studios and Johnny is using a 50/50 mix of melted down medium Monster Clay and Chavant (ChavMonster). Gave it a try and it's pretty cool.

How do you like the alien clay, what grade did you get and how was it? I got some in hard and boy is it hard. Way harder than Monster Clay hard. I can only smooth it with tools and heat. It is too hard to hand smooth even warmed up. I like it though for small figures.

NSP is great, but still I love me some monster clay. I know this might be a bit too specific, but I would love to see your process on how to get really hard edges and flat smooth surfaces. I sometimes think I got it nice and flat, only to make a mould and then have to spend time sanding. 😂

So stoked you are doing these videos! I’m really curious what actually made you switch from Monster Clay to Chavant? You say you started with it but you never say why you switched.

So, it was really out of necessity. Chavant is the absolute GO TO in the industry, so I switched over because every studio I was working at was using it. I like chavant more now because of its blending properties. Monster clay is extremely wax dense. It's a good clay and great for pours, I've just learned to love chavant over the years.
