~~~ Gigi Insulana, I write you in Spanish since I cannot write in your Portuguese language, but I understood everything you said. Yes Mario Lanza is not deceased for us, and he will always will live with us through his beautiful voice.
This is the very last scene of "Aida", Verdi's opera. It is from the film 'The Great Caruso', and the soprano was Dorothy Kirsten. I supose was not filmed at 'The Metropolitan Opera House', but at the film studios of MGM, since this scene is of that movie.
Gigi Insulana, I write you in English and Spanish. I cannot write in your language. ~~ Yes, Mario Lanza is not deceased he still lives through his marvelous voice, and will always live in our hearts.
Truth to tell very few tenors can sing the final high note softly. There is a famous live recording of Caballé and a tenor I have forgotten where before the note you can hear her whisper ‘Canta piano!’.
Your a total idiot, Lanza had a incredible control of his voice ,he proved it numerous times , your just used to the tenors who sing it the same way as all the others . Your clueless .
I love Lanza but Verdi wasn't his strong point I don't think. I'm a trained organist and accompanist and I have been doing this job for 25 years. Lanza was a great vocalist but I don't think he has a voice for Verdi
Mario to me will always be the best voice I have heard. His voice cant be compared or matched. Thanks for the wonderful clips.
MARIO: FAZ 54 ANOS QUE VOCÊ NOS DEIXOU. SUA BELÍSSIMA VOZ SERÁ SEMPRE UM PRESENTE DE DEUS PARA NÓS QUE O AMAMOS HOJE E SEMPRE. FIQUE COM DEUS.

was it actually filmed at the old met?
Mgls Absolutely not. It was filmed at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio in Culver City, California.
I adore ML, but he couldn’t sing a diminuendo to save his soul. But who cares...he is wonderful.
