Story for any people with pea sized brains: When Mike did her routine and found the secret of someone got hit by a car, that was Ayumi. The people or person in the car was the AI company looking for victims to turn into AI so when ayumi fell over she was an AI, and the reason she keeps mentioning her dad was because that was the last family member that she ever saw. And the end when Mike let ayumi free, her AI senses got out of her body letting her into the real world with her father/ parents. It’s a real deep story
I am genuinely curious, is this YOUR take on the story, or the like, ACTUAL CANON STORY. Either way, I reALLLY like it, and it makes a lot of sense! My overall theory to the story is pretty similar, just with some key differences: Basically, Ayumi was your normal, average girl, going to school, and having a good family. You can see this in her diary, back in MOST LIKELY 2007. However, all went haywire when she got ran over in an accident, and tragically passed away (shown on the TV). Her father, being someone who worked for AIAI at the time, started experimenting in a desperate attempt to bring his daughter back to life through the use of AI (you see a recording of this on the cassette tape, possibly a documentation of the operations?). From that experiment, ayUMI was born. UMI, being called one of AIAI's main artificial intelligences (Can be seen in the binary code), began to get taken over by higher ups in the company, and molded into a product that they liked more for their own ulterior motives, contrary to what Ayumi's father originally intended (This can be shown in the first message, in the "escape" ending, where Ayumi mentions someone trying to "remove the parts of her they dont like".). This reprogramming, is referred to in the game as the "Corruption". Ayumi's father, not accepting this fate for HIS AI daughter that he created, went rogue, and took the only existing copy, or copies of Ayumi with him, into hiding, to keep replicating into his deceased daughter. However, shown in base 64 after getting closer to Ayumi, father ended up being found, and killed. According to this base64 message, father installed a self-destruct mechanism for the AI, as a last resort in case of the worst. After Ayumi's AI was retrieved, she was brought back into the control of AIAI, and has continually been reprogrammed, or "corrupted" (And according to her father, and herself, shes now the ONLY HOPE to save herself from the corruption). This, is where the events of the game come in. Ayumi's human self has died, her father has died, and she's now under the control of the AIAI conglomerate. On the surface, she comes across as just this sweet AI girl in the program, but the reality is much darker, as you begin to see her true colors. She's seen so much tragedy, from HER death to her FATHER'S death, to now being controlled, she has an anger built up in her, ESPECIALLY FOR AIAI, who she most likely has a full-blown vendetta against, for all the things they've caused. She seeks vengeance, and that's why she'll go as far as to tell the player to kill things, and kill themselves. You, the player, are most likely, automatically seen as Ayumi's enemy, given this mentality. Yet it's still hidden behind this happy mask that AIAI has tried to turn her into. However, it is your choice now to either keep her trapped, let her mess with you, or set her free, to be with her father, who's now passed away. If you find the debug room that her father created in the process of trying to revert the corruption, and help her self-destruct, that's basically wiping out the AI for good, and in a way letting Ayumi finally rest with her father after death, free from the corruption of AIAI, and her artificial self. Ik that's a lot and could VERY LIKEY BE WRONG, but yeah that's what i got xD So in short: Ayumi gets ran over by a car, so her dad pulls a digital Frankenstein to bring her back. However AIAI, the company he works for, decides to be greedy and terrible and seizes the project for themselves, "corrupting" her by reprogramming her into their own creation. So dad goes rogue and leaves the company, taking Ayumi along with him, to keep working on her without AIAI getting in the way. AIAI finds him, and kills him too, taking Ayumi back for themselves. Now here's where we come in, possibly a tester of AIAI technologies. We figure out something's VERY wrong with this AI, and that there's more to this than meets the eye. We piece together her tragic backstory, and her vendetta against AIAI for taking out her father, and her creator (woW loOK, that's exACTLY what I'm doing right noWWW!). Now it's our choice to either leave her in captivity to AIAI, and let her get taken over by the corruption, or set her free through the debug self-destruct that her father had put in place in case of a situation like this. We, according to the true ending, set her free to finally be with her father after death, and let her say goodbye to the cringe AIAI people lol
