weird science is a masterpiece and i'd put it at #2 behind Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Breakfast club was good in its day, but it's not aged well. Watching it again, it's just silly.
I still think 16 Candles is a masterpiece, happy ending comedy that really sort of got high school right. Breakfast Club is a good movie with some real drama, but the moral is your parents are the source of all of your problems, which even if true becomes a crutch. I have what I call The Breakfast Club rules 'by the time you've been out of your (family) house for as long as your were in it, it's time to stop blaming your imperfect parents and move on with your life...'
The Breakfast Club's moral is not to judge a person by what they appear to be. Yes, from a young age, we are influenced, and sometimes even pressured by our parents and our peers into being a certain person. But, The Breakfast Club is telling us that below the surface of that influence and pressure lies the REAL person and that that REAL person, if you take the time to get to know them, is not very different from you. Give it another watch and enjoy.
