Hi I am 45 and keep telling myself that I am too young to have a hearing aid but after watching this I have plucked up th courage to get myself booked in, so thank you.
I'm getting mine in a weeks time (I'm 30), and this calmed me down a bit. I'm like you (mild/moderate), and I'm hopeful they'll help because I'm a teacher and... Well. Not an ideal situation to constantly need people to repeat themselves. Feel more at ease now. Thanks! Good luck going forward, too. :)
@@andrewh5457 Hey! Bird song is pretty neat, huh? :D The tinnitus thing helped me a lot, too. They take some getting used to, so I so I'm glad you're having a good experience! I've been wearing mine off and on for the past few years, and I'm still working on myself about people noticing them. I get far too self conscious, lol. Thanks for replying, hope you're getting on well!
@@jeanmorgan5410 Hey! The comment you replied to is four years old now, so I am pretty used to them. I don't use them as often as I SHOULD, but I DO use them. ;)
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this video. I am 18 and getting hearing aids for the first time. Everything you said really resonated with me, and I feel more confident to get my hearing aids!
After years of playing guitar too loud and numerous rock concerts without ear protection, I have significant hearing loss in one ear. I’m 48 yrs old, and am being fitted for IIC hearing aids in 2 days. I’m both excited and nervous, but hearing this has slid me more to the excited than nervous. My nervousness has more to do with the perceived stigma than actually needing them. Thank you for this vlog, I’m glad I found it.
Have a hearing aid for 10 yrs but last 2 yrs my hearing has gotten a lot worse and now almost as bad in "good" ear, and what is a lot worse is the tinnitus in both ears, almost tips me over the edge. Going for a fitting in 2 wks for 2 hearing aids and I pray to god these new ones help with tinnitus. My one fear is going totally deaf and just hearing the tinnitus, wouldn't be able to cope
Thank you so much for this! I am 17 and getting my first pair of hearing aids tomorrow as I now have severe hearing loss in my right ear and moderate in my left. I am quite anxious but also very excited. I do have some mental illnesses that cause me to go into sensory overload and its a terrible feeling so I hope that it will not be too intense. Thanks your for sharing the benefits but also some of the struggles. I feel more prepared now.

Although I don’t have mine yet, I should get them in the next couple of weeks. Your video made it less scary and Again I thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I have a genetic hearing loss and I it's getting worse and worse. Right now, at the age of 21, I habe a mild hearing loss and me ENT told me that there is nothing you could do about it so far. However, regarding to the loss my mother has and the latest development of my own hearing loss, I am quite sure that hearing aids will be able to help me in a few years. I am thankfull for everyone sharing their experiences so that I can prepare myself for this journey.

Thank you for this vlog. Due to your advice I went and got checked out. My hearing aids are the best thing that’s happened out of this, didn’t realise how bad they were. Six months on I would be without them !
Well done for sharing this Charlotte. I think you're so brave, because like you say, we are all much harder on ourselves. I definitely can't hear as well as I could since having the children and would be scared to take a test in case I ended up with aids. But that's silly really isn't it because why not help yourself if you need it? It's no different to wearing glasses really and I wouldn't mind that at all. I think yours are so discreet, you can't really tell you're wearing them at all, I suspect most people don't notice you've got them in. Xxx
I have to wear them I had them in for a few hours and couldn't cope you have inspired me to give them another go. I can't even watch TVs without subtitles 😭
Thank you, Charlotte, for such a pleasant and informative video. I will be getting hearing aids for the first time in a few weeks. It helps so much to hear how others experience this - and, not least what to expect. I wish you and your family all the best! :)

Ah thank you lovely! I am so glad that it might help him. That's made me really happy! I'm a few weeks into having them now and I don't find them too much bother at all. I've filmed another update and will edit and post that soon! Wish him luck from me. And well done to you for being so supportive of him! And me! xx
I've just found out that I have mild hearing loss and would benefit from hearing aides. Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate your vulnerability.
Oh bless you, Charlotte. I really want to give you a hug and tell you how flipping amazing, you are. You, are still you, no one can take that from you. I can't quite remember if I read it or heard it, recently. But it was referring to antidepressants for mental health and basically, it said if you were Diabetic, you wouldn't think twice about taking insulin. So if you have depression, why should you not try antidepressants. You, my lovely, are hard of hearing, so why not have something to help you. If you were hard of seeing, you wouldn't think twice, about getting glasses. You, are going to be raising your beautiful children, to know that it is okay, to be different, it is okay to need help. Personally, I think you are pretty damned awesome. Lots of love xoxo 💛
Very good video--I have had the same experience---Your brain does take a short time to adjust... NO LONGER HAVING TO KEEP SAYING PARDON. Poor hearing /deafness has made me feeling very lonely and isolated. I have lost so much of life over the past few years.
I just ordered my first set of hearing aids. I live in the US where they generally cost between $4,000 and $7,000 out of pocket because most insurances don't cover them.
Savanna Arczynski yea. I live In atlanta. Looks like I'll be paying this much for mine. I have really bad tinnitus on my left ear and almost total permanent hearing loss on my right ear.
Awesome 😁 you can't see them at all ! But Don't feel you have to hide them hun! I have hearing aids too, and opted for purple sparkly ear moulds hehe. I decorate my HAs too with washi tape, or Ear Gear covers. Nothing to be embarrassed about 😁 x
Kathy Attwood I’m getting my hearing aids early next month and to help get me excited and comfortable with them my audiologist gave me a pamphlet-type thing with stickers I can put on them if I want! She said washi tape is also a popular way to decorate them.
Same as mine I get little bit string cut off, they are great hearing aids I don't feel them in,I was wearing my left and not as much my right but been told to wear them all the time,I have really bad tinnitus and she's turned one of mine up and it's died down in one ear, hearing aids are free and even the batteries are free,I got telling off as I've to take them in every 2 or 3 months to get plastic piece changed,it was my tinnitus got me sent to clinic and they found hearing lost,it got two small Brown cases and got new case Friday, don't know if you were same but when they turned mine on I spoke and my voice seemed so loud,I was embarrassed and the ladies said it's usual as you haven't been hearing your own voice properly, and yes I had sensory overload, that's why so important to keep them in to let brain get used to new sounds, good luck and don't worry I'm twice your age and your hubby won't bother,no one will notice, xxxxxx💖💗💖
Thanks for posting your experience, I recently had a bit of a shock to find out I have hearing loss and I'm getting fitted for my aides this afternoon. Wish me luck :3
Great video Charlotte. You've got the same ones as me. It's interesting to see you with your hair up as although I've had mine for 2 years and they don't bother me at all, I do have a slight nervousness about putting my hair up in case they can be seen. I can see from you that you really can't see them. Maybe I'll get brave and try doing something with my hair in future! I remember the first few days - it's odd but in time your ears and brain adjust to processing the sound and life just becomes a lot brighter. Glad Mark is so supportive. My husband is an audio engineer and amusingly predicted my prescription and got it right! 😆
Brilliant video Charlotte. I'm glad you're adjusting to your hearing aids. I'm visually impaired and I went to a school for hearing and visually impaired kids. I remember being obsessed with hearing aids when I was a kid and I used to beg my granddad to get me a hearing aid lol. Eventually he gave me a hearing aid lol. Dunno why I was obsessed with the most random things as a child but sure it's good to look back and laugh at those memories xx
i’m 14 and i’m getting my first pair of hearing aids soon! i’m so excited! i haven’t been hearing well forevverrr ans i finally got a hearing testrecently. unfortunately the waiting list for appointments is like a year so i’m not really getting them soon :(
Ahhh congratulations! I’m so pleased that you’re on the list and you will get your hearing aids sometime soon. I hope that appointment comes round quickly, as I promise it will change your life! xx
Thank you, I have had mine for 2 days and I am experiencing the same things. I'm glad it isnt just me. Hopefully things will get better and you are right when you called it artificial hearing. Time will tell. Best of luck with yours
My mom and I were just talking about how I’m so worried about how people will see me when I get my hearing aids soon. It’s so weird as I wouldn’t be rude to anyone else who needs some sort of an aid. I think as humans we’re always harshest on ourselves
Aww Charlotte you are amazing! You're so brave and open in sharing your journey. I hope you adjust to them ok. Oh and btw, I couldn't see them in your ear at all xx
I got my hearing checked. I have phonak hearing aids on both ears. I have mild and moderate hearing loss on both ears. I’ll be posting a video about it Sunday.
Fantastic video Charlotte! I wish I watched this when I was in denial about my hearing. I'm sure others will watch this video and get their own hearing checked out. I hope you are well! X
Dear Charlotte, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings so generously. I am due to pick up my first pair of hearing aids in three weeks. It is really useful to know what to expect. Carol B
You can’t see them at all! I am getting mine for the first time Friday and I have never had them I have had many many surgeries on my ears.I have mild to moderate severe and I love love love to watch these videos I will definitely be subscribing and liking
I had two of those 2yrs ago and I had loads of trouble with them so I went back to the clinic and asked for proper ear moulds the little dot ones are not good at all I’ve had earring aids for 7 years
I'm about to have hearing aids fitted next month. Im 38 now and finally admitted to my family that I've struggled to hear them since I was a child. I got through the years by learning to lip read, hence why my family never knew I had hearing loss. I'm a shy guy and suffered a lot of childhood bullying, so this is making me worry that my work mates will see the hearing aids and make fun of them. I know it sounds daft.
I am older than you (61) and I was prescribed/given two NHS hearing aids yesterday. They are made by ReSound Danalogic and the sound that I am hearing is a bit of a strange. I can hear a sort of "white noise", similar to a radio when it isn't tuned on a station.I can even hear the loose coins rattling in my pocket, which is weird. My audiologist advised me not to wear them for more than a hour a day at first and it to increase the length of time as days go by. I see this video is now a year old. How are you getting on with the hearing aids now? Thanks, Rob.
I’m 14 and are having trouble with hearing. Meaning I have to constantly ask people to speak louder and repeat things. Also can’t hear very well when there’s background noise. But I’m to scared to do anything about it! Ive told my dance teachers and a couple close friends but that’s it.
Yea I had mine for about 2-3 weeks now. It is what it is... At first i didn't want hearing aids, but eventually i gave in... I have similar ones, but the brand i have is Orticon OPN 2 Minirite... Very small device.
you are talking more softly in this video is it because daisy is sleeping or because you can hear yourself more?, don't worry about the hearing aids lovely they help you hear just like our glasses help us see but our glasses are more prominent but I understand how you feel conscious about them it's only natural at first x
I’ve been wearing my hearing aids on and off since I was a little girl I am 24 now! I’ve had a love/hate relationship with them, I have really small ear canals so when I put my hearing aids in it can cause ear wax and block my ears! Also I find them so uncomfortable I have the exact same hearing aids as you! I am definitely going to book another hearing appointment and see what they suggest about the blocking x
I got mine yesterday and I am still overwhelmed, the audiologists clinic was in the mall so when she puts them I was annoyed by my voice echoing but she said I am going to get used to it , when I left from the clinic to the mall I was literally hearing everything actually I was smiling because I was able to hear everything, I heard the people around me clearly but I am still irritated that I hear every sounds , that I am not used to hear like the clock tickling and the water dropping, l think my life was quieter but I will get used to it and enjoyed the surrounding sounds . The thing that overwhelmed me the most , even though I have a mild to moderate hearing loss, I was missing a lot of sounds.
I just got my hearing aids a few days ago so can relate to all you said! All the noises are different, the microwave beeping, the dryer buzzer, water running etc I do feel that tickle feeling but I’m trying to ignore it! Thanks for the video!
Hi Charlotte, I have had a slight problem with my hearing for about 20 years, if I am talking to someone, and there is back round noise I struggle to hear them. I suppose I should mention it to my GP next time I visit. Thanks for the video :D x
Thank you so much for this video. I have just had my fitting appointment come through and will be getting my hearing aids in a few weeks. I’m sort of looking forward to it but sort of not... after watching your video I feel much better about it and know a little of what to expect.. thanks Charlotte👍🙂😎
I have hearing aids they don't hurt. Maybe get your audiologist to tune them down. If it has a volume button use that. Also heads up batteries last about 2 weeks for me. You are beautiful btw💕
I had my NHS audiology appointment just over a week ago and was told I would have to wait a couple of months for my hearing aids fitting. My letter came through today and it said 13 weeks! How long did you have to wait if you don't mind my asking? I am not sure why I have to wait so long, it could be because I am in Devon and we have long waiting lists on the NHS for everything here. Also, I need CROS aids so not sure if that has an impact.
Sean Priest it’s been 6 months since I was told by the audiologist that I need hearings aids, literally just had my appointment with the ENT doctor as they needed to do extra tests and they’ve now told me I need to wait 12 weeks to have my hearing aids fitted. I think it is just the wait times unfortunately. Good luck with them though! I’m sure the wait will be worth it 😊
Leah Browning hi. Yes, I am happy to wait considering the amount of money I will be saving by not going private. I've coped for decades without any aids so a few months wait is nothing really. I'm just excited and eager to try them :) I hope all works out for you.
Sean Priest yea definitely lots of savings from sticking with the nhs! I’ve been doing lots of research of different types of hearing aids and technology on them is incredible! You can even get ones which connect to your iPhone now haha! They do cost, like she said in the video, around £3000 per pair and from speaking with some family members (nearly all of my family on my mums side wears hearing aids) you have to replace them roughly every 5-6 years so that’s £3000 every time you change them 😱 thank you 😊
Leah Browning it's insane how much they can cost isn't it? I've been in contact with a rep at Cochlear who has been advising me on the BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) and it is pretty cool. It has complete iPone compatibility. Im going to try my traditional hearing aids for few months then might trial the BAHA.
Good it worked for you. Mines not work for me so I guess I’m deaf. But I can hear a little bit without them. I have unitron hearing aids. Not afraid to wear them though but they don’t work for me at all.
I am getting mine in a few weeks and I’m so upset and scared. Like you I am married and I’m afraid what he’ll think of me with them. Will he find me sexy? Will he still want me? I have children and I’m so afraid that they will think something of me. It’s scary but thank you! Thank you for being honest it definitely helped me. I feel better
I have had hearing aids for 6 years and I was afraid at first but I remember waking out of the the doctors office and being scared of hearing the birds chirping
Hello dear friend I’m in the process twomorow I hope I have a good experience when I go there tomorrow appointment twomorow morning thanks for sharing keep us informed dear friend
as a child i was severly deaf due to glue ear, at age 3 i had adnoids out and gromets put in, the gromits failed after a few months and had them redone, hearing was great or so i thought as i really had no idea of what was good or bad, i am moderatly deaf with mid to low freqency loss in one ear and mid to high freqency loss in the the other ear, tinitus was horrendous like having a trumpet in my head all the time, but the hearing aids help to minimise the tinitus,
i am 39 years old, i an in uk so my nhs service covered all costs of my aids, had audiology at the hospital and they fitted them and programed them there, i have oticon spirit synergy with a in ear speaker, but getting molds made as the in ear bit is a bit tickly
Hi xiv just got fitted exalty same x2 same as yours i felt like u very emotional also hearing sounds i havent heard just found i gad them in allday my left one bit tender and sore to touch im hoping in time will get use to them ur vlog sooo helpful thanks margexx
+Marjorie Mccormick Oh bless you Marge! Congratulations on getting them and for changing your life. I hope you adjust soon. I promise it gets better and you have a life full of colourful sound ahead of you! xx
Charlotte, Thank you for sharing your experience. I will be getting hearing aids soon, so I have been researching to know what to ask my ENT Dr and audiologist this week. You were very helpful for me!
I'm so interested in your journey lovely. Genuinely can't see a thing. So glad you took the step to getting them and I hope you settle into them and can appreciate all the nice new noises. Besides the traffic, have you noticed any new noises with Mark or the kids that you weren't aware of before? xx
I'm glad it's interesting! I find it quite interesting too - I feel like I'm a bit of a guinea pig for my own knowledge if that makes any sense at all! I'm a few weeks on now and they are much less invasive. I've got an update I need to edit actually. I just notice things are much stronger now. I can hear Mark breathing, or birdsong is so crisp and lovely, whereas before I think I only heard it if it was a really gobby bird! :D Daisy's cry is probably the biggest difference as it REALLY hurts my ears now. xx

Thanks Charlotte. I’ve had mine for 2 weeks and everything you said is so true. Well done on presenting your experience. Greetings from down under.
Ellie Goldie yeah and I’m 10 and I got when I was 6 month
I have hearing aids!! Your not alone! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the information and your honesty in how you feel. Wonderful to see someone so honest.
I hope that appointment comes round quickly, as I promise it will change your life! xx
really appreciate your honesty on this topic
Dear Charlotte,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings so generously.
I've just been told I'll need a hearing aid so your videos are so helpful already.
Thanks for the video, it helped me. Take my hat off to any one who is willing to put themselves out there to help others.
Thanks,
Rob.
Thank you for sharing this. I hope you're getting on OK with them. They're barely visible.
I’m 14 and are having trouble with hearing. Meaning I have to constantly ask people to speak louder and repeat things. Also can’t hear very well when there’s background noise. But I’m to scared to do anything about it! Ive told my dance teachers and a couple close friends but that’s it.
What are these hearing aids called
Yea I had mine for about 2-3 weeks now. It is what it is... At first i didn't want hearing aids, but eventually i gave in... I have similar ones, but the brand i have is Orticon OPN 2 Minirite... Very small device.
you are talking more softly in this video is it because daisy is sleeping or because you can hear yourself more?, don't worry about the hearing aids lovely they help you hear just like our glasses help us see but our glasses are more prominent but I understand how you feel conscious about them it's only natural at first x
She is a pain im not getting hearing aids because of her.
Definitely was for me when I first got them and when someone first notices that I have them
Hiya, I wear hearing aids but love this video, shame I didn't see it before I got mine.
When will the update video be posted?
I'm so glad to have found this video I'm due to get mine fitted in a few weeks and I'm so nervous I'm 25 and mum of 2 so this is all new to me
I’ve been wearing my hearing aids on and off since I was a little girl I am 24 now!
The thing that overwhelmed me the most , even though I have a mild to moderate hearing loss, I was missing a lot of sounds.
nice video I'm getting mine next week this helped me a lot 😊
Thanks for the info. What can I say about my Concerns regarding this issue of the ordeal is over. Doris
I just got my hearing aids a few days ago so can relate to all you said! All the noises are different, the microwave beeping, the dryer buzzer, water running etc I do feel that tickle feeling but I’m trying to ignore it! Thanks for the video!
This is a really interesting insight, thanks for sharing. I think you are speaking a bit more clearly now too (not that you weren't clear before!).
Just got my hearing aids two days ago. My experience is like yours so far.
I hope you really enjoy them as time goes on Dean! I love mine now! xx
Thank you for sharing these videos. I am waiting for my hearing aid appointment so this is really helpful thank you
Thank you so much for your feedback as I might be getting hearing aids in and I'm worried of getting them
Hi Charlotte, I have had a slight problem with my hearing for about 20 years, if I am talking to someone, and there is back round noise I struggle to hear them.
Wow its nice to know someone whose in the same shoes 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 lovely video
Very interesting video, I'm getting glasses next week n I'm so nervous xx
I might have to get hearing aids I’ve hit my head multiple times and I have shot a gun and it blew up in my ear
Brilliant video thank you . Got my first ha . Life changing for the better . Great presenter .

Hey I want to talk to u personally
thankyou soo much this really helped me xxxxx
when i get that tickle feeling i get a little shiver. i have had mine about 3 days now
How bad is your hearing
as a child i was severly deaf due to glue ear, at age 3 i had adnoids out and gromets put in, the gromits failed after a few months and had them redone, hearing was great or so i thought as i really had no idea of what was good or bad, i am moderatly deaf with mid to low freqency loss in one ear and mid to high freqency loss in the the other ear, tinitus was horrendous like having a trumpet in my head all the time, but the hearing aids help to minimise the tinitus,
how old you, which hearing aids you got can we see them
i am 39 years old, i an in uk so my nhs service covered all costs of my aids, had audiology at the hospital and they fitted them and programed them there, i have oticon spirit synergy with a in ear speaker, but getting molds made as the in ear bit is a bit tickly
lisa yeates haha I've had mine since birth and it's all I've ever known

You have the exact same hearing aids I do! The only difference is mine are purple.
You cannot see them at all- you are gorgeous with or without!
Also that nail polish!! Which one is it please? X
Thank you for your really informative video,I get mine on Wednesday so wish me luck☘️☘️and I can't see yours at all😀👍😘
What is your prescription
:D Daisy's cry is probably the biggest difference as it REALLY hurts my ears now. xx
I know this video was made a while ago. I am hard of hearing and I wear 2 hearing aids.
I love your videos 😊❤
Umm.... Don't worry about hearing loss I have them too 😊 but I will tell u one thing don't let people judge u that what people think about me.
Honestly I miss my clear ones, YOU could see everthing going on inside, the only problem was when you dropped them, you couldn't see them
