That remark at 8:11 about MLS following in the footsteps of the NASL by signing aging players is pretty misleading. You completely left out the massive investment that the league has made in youth academies, youth development, and selling talent to Europe who have performed well. The NASL NEVER did that when they were around.
Some points you are Wrong On in the first world cup finals, you did not have to qualify as it was by invitation. The 1966 World Cup Finals in England were shown live on American t.v. The World Name, for The Game is FOOTBALL.
lame story , The NASL was the biggest league with the best players in the world . The british can't stand they could not beat any of our teams . and we won all the challenge cups as well .
It was really distracting to keep hearing The Major League Soccer ("The MLS") over and over. I don't think the movie "Goal" is why the two previous leagues combined and formed NASL. I'm OK with you calling it soccer, however. :) While MLS does sign some top players at the end of their careers, that is not the primary strategy. Although I'll give you the fact that MLS does market those players extensively. I can speak for DC United who won 3 of the first 4 MLS Cups - Marco Etcheverry was 25 and Jaime Moreno was 22 when they started in 1996. Even John Harkes was only 29. Anyway, good topic. Could use a bit more research.

TIMBERS OWN LUMIEN FIELD 🎣
Yeah, that was the only part of the video that I didn't like. 🤣
My uncle in Italy used to call the NASL L'Ospizio. The old folks home where washed up European and South American footballers retired to.
I wish the league could have survived. It would be the best league in the world right now.
