An American here.........Been following this series for 12+ years now since I discovered it around 2010. It is , and will always be my most favorite 4 wheel racing series on planet earth! Nothing for me is even close! Gawd I love this series! Glad to see the track ended up drying out and became really good after all the rain they had. And congrats to Gizzy!
It's the best isn't it we love it and living in Australia it's a sad time with no more holden ...I drive Holden ssv v8 with suped up mods on it and literally love driving it every day ...yesterday was amazing but emotional 😢

Getting a mustang instead of a falcon is just as much the same thing. GM owns holden and chevy, so it’s still basically the same brand. There was a Chevy version of the VF commodore even. We lost the ausie sedans with the mustang, so to reminisce about what once was at the exit of Holden, seems a little late

These cars are nothing like the Fords & Holdens we punt around on the road. . Holden started using Chevorlet engines over 25 years ago simply because their 308 was such a basic engine. Go back to Brock/Johnson era for actual Australian product.
@@forddriver8827 ignored the engines it was an Australian made vehicle and people adore them like my self (I'm more of a falcon than a commie fan) +ford used a miami that was verry based off the coyote.
A US fan here, I'm looking forward to the new cars next year to see how everyone stacks up! So glad they have the videos on YT now. (well, technically 2021 but still.)

Fabulous race and commentary. This is one of my absolute favourite races. I’ve been watching since I was a kid seeing the TWR Jaguar XJS’s racing around. Wonderful
This race really had it all: Massive shunts, driver's errors under pressure, an all-round deserving podium, a Sendoff for a legendary marque. It was worth shuffling my sleep schedule in preparation for the 1000. Also Shane Van Gisbergen is easily the best driver in the world in 2022.
I am from South Africa and a big fan of this race. I think one of the hardest races on the planet I am fortunate to have this track on a racing game and I have actually done the full race on my pc. I admire these drivers because it is very very hard and your focus needs to be spot on and you can hardly blink. For a whole 6 hrs. Its crazy
@@Avenge_Computers yep. You'd be nuts to race a Ford in Holden's "farewell" year. They were never going to be allowed to win anything. Of course next year is Chevrolet's "welcome" year, so Fords won't be winning anything next year either. 2024 they might allow a couple of Ford wins.
You know, I would've assumed that there'd be a lot of pride in seeing an Australian brand winning the Barthurst 1000, because it's never gonna happen again unless a serious miracle happened. But clearly, a lot of you just don't care...

I just started watching Super cars last year because NASCAR is weak sauce. I hope that we don't pollute it like NASCAR did with rules and regulations that take away from the excitement.
Whether we praised the lion, or our blood was blue, the exit of Holden is such a massive cultural event in Australian sporting history, let’s remember the good times, cheers Holden.
Outstanding race. Given the number of laps led during the race and the fact SVG at one stage between the safety cars after he'd served the penalty, had hammered out a 12 second lead, it would have been an injustice if he hadn't finished on the top step. Big wraps to Garth Tander for his pace and consistency as co-driver. Kiwis in the top two cars was just the icing on the cake. Thank you to Australia for puting this on again.🤣

Noticed there was rain and they didn't almost cancel the entire event and award a C'ship winner afterwards. Better than some other motorsport at least.
The mountain never disappoints. Congrats to SVG for a superb win. Sometimes I wonder about the stuff he gets away with, and he probably has the best car, but the guy is a racer. And after all the bumps and crashes, he somehow comes out on top.
SVG has emerged from the drivers championship points battle as THE biggest winner because he has nearly 4 races worth of points with 600 available that's 150 per race

I'd love to see the day it returnes to production vehicles that only have the bare minimum safety upgrades for racing. No fancy data back to the pit crew, no easy parts/wheel changes/air jacks/etc, etc.

I remember the good old days when you could watch the Great Race for free. We used to hold a party at our house in Auckland, Dad would bbq, beers would be enjoyed and the lads would have a banger of a day. How's about a release if the FULL RACE now that it's already happened????
It hasn't been free for years, quit complaining. A one week sky subscription is $20 you could've done that. Put some effort into finding a solution rather than complaining.

However, they obviously didn't want you (as a child) to be burdened by such things. Time moves on & Technology evolves - it happens FOR EVERYONE, YES? Bathurst 1000Ks is one of the best races in the motorsport calendar year. From a long time fan in the USA. I want to see the Mighty Car Mods guys Martin Mulholland and Bryce (Moog) Jocelyn - locals from NSW - have some involvement in next years race like honorary starters, or drivers call to start engines or maybe even the sighting pace lap in the safety car or something. Those two guys have inspired generations into cars and racing around the world and surely they should get local recognition particularly when they recently did a special series that ended on Mount Panorama. Come on Supercars marketing get in contact with your people and make it happen, this is a tremendous opportunity to promote the race and a couple of great local guys!

As much as I hardly feel this form of Bathurst resonates from anything since 1969, it is a memorable and important race, if not the final page in the book of Holden racing.

What a pity the track officials could not have organized a firetruck to hose the mud off the track on the bad corners before starting the biggest race of the year and saved some drivers day from being destroyed from no fault of their own. I would like to see them start an F1 race with a track that had mud all over the first corner.
Rip holden. Gone but never forgotten. I feel like a good idea would be for each 2 or 3 years to take the holdens and the falcons out and do a phew chill laps just so people can still see em go around the track

American here too, was the easiest switch to make from NASCAR. Took a trip to the mountain in 2018, the stories were legendary! Cheers!

I'm a Yank and have a 17' SS, my wife and I have always referred to it as 'the Holden'. (had a G8 before that and it was also 'the Holden')

I loved Larkos putting Xs on cars that were involved in accidents. Only a couple that weren't.

What a pity the track officials could not have organized a firetruck to hose the mud off the track on the bad corners before starting the biggest race of the year and saved some drivers day from being destroyed from no fault of their own. I would like to see them start an F1 race with a track that had mud all over the first corner.
Rip holden. Gone but never forgotten. I feel like a good idea would be for each 2 or 3 years to take the holdens and the falcons out and do a phew chill laps just so people can still see em go around the track
