More or less. The main difference tends to be the actual vehicle forms and what "organics" they interact with. Hence why Bumblebee is a VW Beetle in Gen 1 but a Camaro (originally a beat up one, but upgrades to a better "year" and "condition") in the movie, and why Megatron is a tank in one continuity and a jet like Starscream in another and a dragon in Robots in Disguise. And why the trailer was Optimus's legs originally, and in Robots in Disguise he's a firetruck, Beast Wars he's Optimus Primal the gorilla, Armada he's a semi again but the trailer is an optional upgrade and in the Michael Bay verse he's just the main Semi and has flame decals. I like to think that the 13th is the Matrix of Leadership itself, since it basically reincarnates the Bot possessing it into that of a Prime. It makes sense, considering the Matrix often has a way of "choosing" the next Prime like its sentient instead of simply being given it
How about a program extension pack? It gives abilities to a regular Autobot the ability to be a Prime. Optimus was Orion Pax until Alpha Trion rebuilt him and the Matrix reprogrammed him to be a Leader.

Would definatly like to see something a little more in-depth on megatronus, he's a real good character with a much greater scope than "generic bad guy."
Maybe you should have talked a little more about the megatronus of the covenant. He's more complex than just a flat evil charcter shown in high-capitalized media. Megatronus has a temper, but he wasn't bad, that temper of his, was just shown to hide his real vulnerabilities and disguise his real emotions, and the reason he was that way, that distant, reserved and insecure was because the other primes did not completely accept him as he was: another creation of Primus, one that was needed for them to have a chance of achieving victory against unicron. They never allowed him to be like one of them, starting by prima that just blasted him with reject and criticism and no respect for him. His relationship with solus did let the people who read the book to see that he had a soft antentive and kind side towards someone that accepted him as he was able to show that he was not a bad person. He was a person with a lot of demons, that doesn't make a person a demon itself. It's sad to see that things always end bad for this character just for not being understod, he's a character with "more than meets the eye", and this also makes the other primes seem shallow in their personalities and ways to see other people, specially prima, that was basically left alone judging people and being intolerant and unflexible, which is basicaally how he died, or how we suspect he died.

In the aligned continuity, Sentinel Zeta Prime was an elected prime, not a real prime, kinda like how Caesar became a Roman title, not a direct descendant of Julius Caesar himself, sentinel zeta became a prime under the quintesson deception

In the Prime series, Unicron made up the core of the Earth and Primus was at the core of Cybertron. I give credit to people who put together quizzes for Transformers fans at conventions. You basically have to identify the specific media you’re referring to if you want one answer that won’t start a debate.
