    The fact that Sydney's winning time (49.11) would have beaten Paulino in the actual Diamond League final (49.45) is more reason for her to run the open 400m. Great races from both women, and strong times considering the weather conditions.

  • @CYMotorsport
    @CYMotorsport หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    2:37 trainers? it's no doubt a superspike. it's not the MD-X V3's released bc it's missing the grey accent on the heel outside which isn't apart of the available colorway. More than likely a variant of the V3 with seemingly the same adjustable spike mechanism blending pacer & track day rides. Bol has posted pics of unreleased variants of the MD-Xs back in May so I know they have access to a lot of upstream tech this olympic cycle. seems to track given the changing weather conditions NB would ensure they keep their highest performing athlete healthy.
    But obviously they aren't trainers lol.

      @AllInTheGame01 well she probably won't measure up when everything is on the line with everyone in the race, she's a choke artist but besides that she'll probably run a mid 48 seconds in a race that doesn't matter

    • @ofs82
      @ofs82 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@ronester1 She choked ONCE. Twice if you count the Budapest Mixed Relay. Against that, you have the Budapest women's relay, the Budapest 400mh where everybody expected her to win in Syd's absence, and the Paris mixed relay where she delivered clutch performances. At Paris she tried to run Syd's race rather than her own, and it was a bad decision that cost her, and she ran a bad race, well below her best. I thought she probably got spooked by having somebody running up on her which has seldom been the case for two years for her with SML absent from the world calendar, and it threw her off her game. And her run would still have been enough for silver if Cockrell hadn't run a big PB on the biggest stage. Cockrell's second best ever time is 52.59, so pulling out 51.87 in the Olympic final is a huge, huge outlier in her results. And that 52.59 was in the Rome DL after the Olympics, her PB coming into Paris was 52.64 at the Olympic trials, almost half a second behind Bol's extremely disappointing (and make no bones, it WAS extremely disappointing) bronze medal run.
      She's not a choke artist. She's just not as good as Sydney. And probably runs too much, but the Dutch don't have the benefit of the depth the US have to be able to manage the athlete workloads the same way, and she's a big star and draw on the Euro circuit so she runs anywhere and everywhere.
      I expect when Sydney retires, those records are there for a long time and we don't see anybody come near them for years. Like Flo-Jo's, Michael Johnson's or Jonathan Edwards'.

      Then she should show up to the qualifying events - This is no different than if she showed up to a Final race in Olympics cause she thought she was too good bother to qualify.
      There is a sad reason she did not though and WHY she is there at all - And its sad she gets used for that.
      She is part of a group for an American "DL" league in 2025+ and she was there to promote it to kill the DL so US athletes can compete at home.
      Which is fine for them but will make sure that no big American names will ever come to Europe again and I bet Olympics will just be a US walkover and barely worth watching in the future if it just all yanks and africans all the time - no flavour, no nothing.

    Syd is a generational talent - maybe even more than that. I don’t follow T&F nearly as much as you kids, but enough to recognize what I’m seeing- and I have been watching for a long, long time now.
    As an oldster - I don’t believe I have ever seen such a dominant force on the women’s side in my lifetime - even better than the legendary FloJo. She is to the track what a combination of Mark Spitz and Michael Phelps would be to swimming.
    I simply love to watch her make it look effortless, while knocking out long-held records, and never appearing to take anything for granted - she runs to the tape every time - even when occasionally hitting the brakes in quali.
    I can’t wait to see what her, “Final Form” is. Gonna be crazier than seeing Bolt’s almost unreal performances in the sprints… and I am 100% here for it.

    Of course she isn't helped by the weather (just like all the other athletes in Brussels), so maybe the expectations were a bit off (most predicted an AR, some even speculated sub 48).
    It would have been weird if she did not dominate that field, so her winning by a huge lead was to be expected.
    So why this video ? Is it just because Sydney's name generates more clicks than Paulino's name, who also ran a "decent" time but is the actual Diamond League winner ?

    I think Sydney might have just perfected the 400m Hurdles so much, basically eliminating the hurdles when she runs the event, that she can't really run much faster on the flat as people would expect. So the improvement by a second and a half to her hurdles time when she is running the flat is probably her squeezing everything out of herself in the flat. And we know Sydney doesn't come out to big events to time trial, she comes in to showcase. She could've stayed home when she got refused participation in the DL Final, but she chose to still show up, which implies that she was confident in the form and wanted to showcase it instead of just allowing it to go to waste. So I think that the 47-second WR mark in the flat will probably be safe.

    • @_MicZ_

      Sydney('s team) contacted the Brussels meet to ask for the double, she probably always knew she wasn't going to run in the DL finals as it's not hard to look up the rules.
      They offered her enough money for it to make it interesting for her to travel to Europe again and she was probably aiming for fast times and the opportunity to run a double before running 4 of those next year.
      Hard to tell if she was going to get a PB in better conditions, but it didn't look like she was capable of running a low 48 at this point in time ...
