    The vendiagrams really helped. But is it fair to say that affirmative is using positive connotations such as ARE and IS and negative use NOT and DON'T?

      Standard form Categorical Propositions only use ALL ARE or SOME ARE for affirmative propositions. Negative propositions use only NO ARE or SOME ARE NOT. If you encounter other statements that are worded differently, they need to be re-worded in order to conform to these categorical standards.
