The first time I 'poled' the R66, I was shocked and impressed by the rate of climb! We were 3 up and at 5300ft asl and that baby just felt like she had no limits! Crazy...... Loved it!
Started taking private lessons a few years ago, only 10 hrs under my belt and had to walk away from it. Family came first and couldn't afford to take it back up. Love these vids
@@SOLDOZER do you have any idea how expensive it is to get a commercial pilot's license, or how little and pathetic the pay is for the first 3 to 5 years of flying?
@@SOLDOZER that's still like several hours a day, several days a week, plus $20-25k. That's no small sacrifice for someone who already has a job keeping them busy during the day, and a family that takes plenty of money to feed as it is.
When I was flying with Silver State Helicopters [cry] out of KRYY, PDK would never let us into their pattern; they were always way to busy to have us puttering around in an R22. However, Dobbins was was really nice about letting us through their airspace. They were bright and perky on the radio; maybe they just weren't very busy :)
Great video! I was flying with my CFI in an R44 yesterday and was telling him about your videos. As it turns out here is a friend of yours. He's a great pilot and the best instructor I could ever hope to have.
First vid of yours I've seen - normally hate music in these kind of videos but you've managed to hit the nail on the head as far as music volume is concerned. Was actually enjoyable. Also helps that the music only kicked in after startup - for us purists out there. Great vid.
Me in my R22: It's too hot so in order to take off I have to run my skids across the runway and slide into the air like a demented pidgeon This guy doing a takeoff I had to watch three times: "Let's go straight up since we're a 66"
I've landed at PDK in an H60....they dont really recognize the difference, a help is a helo... wanted us to land direct...man we would have blown over so much if we accepted that clearance!
Pinnacle landings are always fun while challenging. Mine were in Hueys, Cobras and Scouts back in the day. Cool video and glad ya enjoy your job. Good luck as ya move forward in your career.
Quick question. How do you initiate each communication to the tower? Is there any button you push? Because I see you keep listening all the time but talk from time to time and I wonder how you avoid cross talking with another pilot.
There is usually a trigger on the cyclic control that you will press and hold during transmission on the radio frequency, all other comms just stay within the aircraft. You need to follow radio protocol which specifies how and when to transmit your intentions or communicate with ATC.
Nice work, enjoyed watching it. I know some like the music, but for me, I think you're even better without. For someone in the U.K. it's always amazing how you are able to fly single engine over cities like that. ❤️😄
tamo junto Victor. vim através do canal do Li e descobri através de um vídeo seu que somos conterrâneos sou de tabira pe mas moro em santa cruz do capibaribe também pernambucano.
Bell 407 airspeed is around 152 mph cruise with a max airspeed of 161mph. The Robbie R-66 has a cruise speed of 127mph with a max airspeed of 161. How is it you said the 407 was "slow"? Fly safe!
Are these privately owned helipads? How do you get permission to land on top of a building. My dream is to take off from home, and land somewhere in a big city for dinner, then head back home.
Man, your videos are awesome. i love the mounting angles you use for cams in-cab 👌 Those Robinson 66s seem so smooth and pull easy, yeh? i knw its not the most well-paying job in the world, but im certain its one of the most personally rewarding :) stay safe, keep being awesome ✌
Young helicopter pilots in the US, like young physicians, are often paid starvation wages. Non-military-trained pilots, also like many US physicians, also tend to have mountains of debt from training. Can't speak for this guy's specific situation, but for a lot of early-career helicopter pilots, Über isn't such a bad analogy.
Epic Army Of One Call sign of all aircraft is comprised your aircraft type + aircrafts tail #. In the case of this R66 helicopter flight you heard “helicopter 1020 Whiskey” so tail # = N1020W (pilot dropped the N that proceeds all US registered aircraft to reduce communication time).
Very nice video. Couldn't help but notice on start-up that it has the same headliner as a GM auto. The fuzzy ceiling that begins to fall down after a decade. For the money an R66 costs you'd think they'd at least have a faux leather headliner like a Honda or real leather like a Guimbal Cabri. Cool post! Happy skies to you!

The guy looks like a happy and nice kid. And definietly, his passengers enjoyed flying with him.

Not familiar with the area, was this landing near downtown Atlanta ?
How does the R66 compare to the H500 or the B206?
GREAT VIDEO, DUDE, how many hours do you have.??
What education do you need to fly for like a hospital?
About $90,000 worth.
