When people think about models, everyone tends to think of HIGH FASHION MODELS we see on the runway of in fashion magazines such as Vogue. However, there are many different types of modeling that are less popular but still lucrative for aspiring models. In this video, Francis Polo breaks down the 13 main categories of modeling from High Fashion, Hand Modeling, Fitness Modeling, Commercial Print, Lifestyle Modeling, and more.
From the categories mentioned in this video Fashion Models in Runway and Editorials are the models who make the most money in the industry. This comes as no surprise given the strict requirements to being a high fashion model. For women, the height requirement is usually 5'9 - 5'11, and for men it is 5'11 - 6'3. There are other requirements as well such as having a particular measurement, high cheek bones, and more.

Do you think a girl which height is 5'7" and a half-5'8"(172-3 cm) is enough for a fashion model? I know that Cara Delevingne, Sara Sampaio and other successful supermodels are this height. Also my mother has been a model in her 20's and she is "only" 5'7"(170cm). Do you think I can make it?

Absolutely high fashioned model.. Runways are the best.. Simply because there's no fake smiling or anything like that. You go on stage with your mean mugg just like that!.. I love it and i'm willing to get more opportunities in that category. 😊

@@katjaradjenovic72 yeah you're Close enough, 5'8 is just one of the requirements to "guarantee". So if you have a few or have all the others and this is holding you back, it shouldn't be a problem.

Sleep with a pillow in between your legs every night for 2 months straight. You will grow around 2-3 inches due to bad posture, this will not only relieve pain, but also make you taller.
I do just fine with commercial pr, and commercial shoots. It's does pay more. I'm 5'4" so yeah

I’m 5”5 and my family would always tell me how tall I was so I grew up thinking I was a giant but seeing the average requirement height for models, I guess I was wrong 😳 i hope it won’t be much of a problem ughh
"Lifestyle models look approachable" so not me 😂. I have the resting face of a runway model. And oh god catalog models, I hate trying on clothes so I wouldnt be able to do 8 hours of putting and taking off clothes.

You forgot androgynous models. And high fashion is also for plus-size models and petite modes. Looks should be in separate categories
I know I can’t do runway modeling because I’m 5’8 and 28 years old. But I always felt like I had a better chance in commercial print. Thanks for this video it was really informative and helped me understand the different categories.

At 5'1', 100 lbs but still not as skinny as what is normally requested for models, pale skin and freckles galore...I always thought modeling wasn't in the cards for me. Thank you for your videos! They clarify a lot! Petite and commercial modeling actually sounds like a lot of fun!

65 kg is too much even for a 5'9. You must loose weight. Many models started with words "you need to loose that number of pounds and than come again". So do that and keep trying many times in many different agencies.
I mean too much for a model, it's not too much for regular people obviously.

Hello Fresh Peper! My name is Michel Cardona and lately, I've been considering retaking my modeling career. When I graduated high school I had an opportunity to become a full-time model. I had two LA agencies interested in me but it required me to move to LA and I was very attached to my family so I decided to instead continue my schooling. Currently, I am still in school but I am feeling a bit burn out so I decided that I wanted to give another try to modeling and maybe taking 1 class or two per semester, as I obviously want to finish what I started. Now you may wonder why am I telling you all of this. But I've been watching your videos adding them to my previous training and experience. Originally I was trained as a commercial print model. I am 5'4''. I've don't a couple not too big runways. Currently, I am 24 but people think I am 17 so I want to take that to advantage. I am getting myself ready mentally and physically to go present myself to old contacts that can possible get me back into the game. What advice would you give me as I submerge back into the modeling industry? :)

sebastian actually yes there are plenty of modeling agencies that cater to shorter ppl and there are even agencies that accept all sizes too. You can see their clients all over NY billboards and other places too...

The Reality of Fitness you might have to be your own agent in Memphis. You can submit yourself for modeling jobs, fitness magazine submissions, and off course participating in any body building contest helps. Other than that, you may have to move to a big city

Ofc height isn't everything, you can be most types of models actually. You just have to learn to be photographed tall, so yes ofc you can be a model

Yes you can, but you'll get way more work and exposure if you live in a fashion capital like New York, LA, Miami

Figure modeling is another type of modeling. Sometimes nude of styled for artist to paint or sketch. Poses vary from 2 minutes to multiple hours hours in small intervals. It probably pays similar to promo modeling or fit modeling. And probably used the same way to fill schedule.

There is also Social Influencer and Spokes modeling. My model coach Naima, also told me that commercial modeling is actually more lucrative than high fashion. With commercial modeling catering more to the everyday consumer base, who can afford commercial brands more than high fashion brands, there are more opportunities for models with diverse looks who represent people like them, and more opportunities to be used again.

I'm also dreaming to become a model and work internationally, but my problem is" I'M POOR". I don't have any stuff to shoot myself for posting. I'm don't have any luxurious and extravagant outfits. No one ever seen my dedication to my dreams, No one ever support me even taking a good Picture of me. I'm slightly photogenic but no one can see it. They define beauty as having white skin, pointed nose, sexy body(for women), have muscles (for men).
My Dream will always stay as a dream, I don't think If I can achieve it. 😔 But still, when I finish my College I will try to be a part of modeling industry.
