I got one for you: Back in the late 90's. I went to City Hall to volunteer for the Neighborhood Watch. Now, back then, if I wore long pants and T-Shirts, I look completely clean. However, I am heavily covered. Now, I worked in the office and I was cool. My boss knew I was tattooed and told me "No problem". One Saturday, I had to take some stuff into the office. Not stay all day, just drop off paperwork. SOoooo, Knee length shorts, a tank top and flipflops and all my tattoos were on display. The Secretarial section loved me and I got to be the answer lady for a few moments. Unfortunately, the Mayor's office was just across the hall and his door was open.
I happened to glance over and he had this Shocked Pikachu face on. Thing is, he was always nice and polite to me up to this point. He KNEW I volunteered at the office. Yet, the moment he saw my tattoos, all that goodness went out the window. He went to my boss and tried to get me kicked out. Boss Lady looked him in the eye and said, "You didn't have a problem when she wore jeans and a T-shirt with sneakers, so suck it up old man." Funny thing, he didn't get re-elected.

When my youngest son was in year 7 he wrote a history assignment on WWII. It was to be 2 to 3 pages. He wrote 6.
For context, my son is an avid history buff like me & his elder sister. She also happens to be an English/History teacher at a nearby high school. She has tutored him on writing, grammar, punctuation, set up, references & revisions just as he would need in year 10 & above. His work was immaculate
It was sent back to be re done as the teacher said he had obviously plagersised it & there was no way he would be able to write this as obviously a much older & educated person did this.
I asked for a meeting & she again rambled on & on pointing out how this work is above my sons calibre.
That's when I had my son present the teacher with all his work, revisions & saved points. Also that his sister, the English/History teacher, has been tutoring him. I demanded that the principal be brought in. She examined it very closely & then said she would let it slide this time & have a C grade..
Ohh no, no, no, says I. You are accusing my son of committing an offence. Fine, she says he can have a B then.
Nope, either you get the principal of there will be complaints. She doesn't back down & fetches the principal & then launches intonthebsame BS. Again, my son shows him all his work. Not only this assignment, but on every assignment. She places through & states he has used the same phrases in a lot of his work, so therefore, he is now plagersing himself. Uh hold on, this is the way he speaks & expresses himself. Inthen point out how many times she has used the exact same phrases on our conversation, so therefore, she is constantly plagiarising herself. She pointed out that is the way she communicates. Yes, & so does my son.
I looked at the principal & askedbwhat are you going to do about it. As I will them both to the education board. He tells her to let it gonasbhe has more than proven it is his original work & grade it accordingly.
I also said that the teacher is notorious for harassing the kids & taking petty revenge out on them & demanded that she not be allowed to make his work in the future. He tried to argue about the unnecessary work for the other teachers, but I pointed out that it is because of her that his is the case.
My son got an A minus, as the language on his computer was set to US English & not UK English & there were 2 spelling mistakes.
I let that slide, but come next assignments, he sent his work to the principal to be assessed by the other history teachers & she marked all his work as unsubmitted which was on his report card.
I went Thermal & wrote an official complaint immediately to the education board, CC'd the principal &;the teacher.
Had my meeting with the education board, the principal & teacher. She stuck to her story that he had not submitted his assignments. My son showed the receipt of his assignme from school. Apparently, the principal did not forward his assignments to be assessed.
The teacher gloated that the principal was in trouble. He was then directed to have all assignments assessed immediately & the record adjusted. They then turned on the teacher asking why she didn't follow it up as she knew other teachers were assessing his assignments.
She made all sorts of excuses that were dismissed.
A week later his grades were fixed & at the end of the term the teachers co tract was not extended as other parents heard about the complaint & previously did not want to raise the ire of the teacher, they now complained. Out of 28 students in his class 26 parents lodged official complaints. Then other grades did the same.

Lowe’s story; I was a delivery driver and worked the front end when I got injured. I got a talking to about checking my phone, but yet there was a front end worker who was on her phone not looking at a customer asking her a question and she never got a talking to. It’s all a little clique and it’s worse than High School. This happened in my last store. My first one was awesome and I was only at my second for 3 months before I moved.

For the Lowe’s story, thats a pretty common issue in all industries, and the problem is that for all intents and purposes, employees represent the company.
And, of course the current work culture is slanted toward appeasing older demographics who usually would consider tats and anything else like that on display to be “unprofessional” or “ghetto”.
These older customers are usually the ones with the most money as well, so its always going to be in the company’s interest to appeal to these customers.

It could be plagiarism if you abandon the class (or fail it) and take it next session and submit the same work for the same homework or essay (it works like that in college here). Even if you wrote it, you have to do it differently the next time you do that homework.
But not in OP's case, since they have to take said essay and change it according to the teacher's instructions, and since there was no instructions..

I once worked at a place that had a day one sick leave policy, all it ever resulted in was people coming to work contagious for just long enough for everyone else to get sick and business would suffer for the next couple of weeks due to outages.
Eventually staff got so annoyed with the owner being a control freak dickbag they would just be obviously sick and suffering in front of customers, really ham it up. Customers who loved the staff would end up yelling at the owner, after the fourth time this happened the policy magically changed to only after 3 days.

Story 4 - That water in carpet will also cause mold issues due to the heat. That is something that OP can avoid doing so can be actually held accountable for. Also, as OP got that place from craigslist you can bet there was no actual proper lease in place and even then OP would still be protected to the point that the landlord might get fined if the lease agreement that OP signed, if there was one, was incorrect. Also, when it comes to the bond, it might be found out that the landlord charged more than is allowed, which for that state is 1+1/2 month's rent and cant ask for more.

You can, especially if your work are public... But in case of OP, it doesn't apply because it was the same assignment. Technically, there was no work to plagiarize because it was not approved completely (as far as I understood, OP was allowed to rewrite essay to get better mark to that assignment which means there was no final mark).

The high school I subbed at had a no facial piercing policy. I was working in school suspension where a teen came in with a nose piercing. She was good throughout the suspension, did her work, swept the floor and overall was a good kid. As i was walking around the school I saw a teacher sporting a nose piercing and asked the Principal why she was allowed to have a facial piercing and the students were not. Really if you are going to have a policy it should be consistent throughout the system.

      Yes, it is.
Plagiarism isn't as much about taking another person's work as it is using nonoriginal work.
This is less important at the high school level. But once you get into higher levels of academia, publishing, etc. it is absolutely considered plagiarism to take from your own previous work without citing it. Just make sure to cite your old papers, books, etc. like you would cite any other source you were using.

Yeah if you get paid for 10 hours, you work for 10 hours only. If they demand more work, you either demand more pay or quit. If quitting is currently not possible for you, you could also just do it *for now* and immediately start looking for another job. Simple as that.
Regarding the landlord in phoenix, I don't think that would work out because there is no contract for any rental agreement and the rent has always been paid in cash. So the landlord might be able to successfully claim that op has never been a tenant and he could probably also just kick him out.
Honestly no idea why anyone would do all those things - job, rent, etc. - without any sort of formal contractual agreement, like, that just opens you up to so much abuse and getting cheated.
The plagiarism in the last story doesn't even make sense. It's literally not possible to plagiarize your own work, because by definition plagiarism is taking someone elses work and pretending that it's yours. If you're taking your own work you cannot pretend that it's your own because it literally is, so it is not possible to plagiarize yourself.

@@raznaak What I mean is that it doesn't even fit the meaning of the word. Like "plagiarism" literally means to take the work of someone else and pretend that it's your own. If it is your own work, it is not possible for you to plagiarize it. That's kinda what bothers me here, because you'd think that an institute of education would be educated enough to chose their terms properly and not just take random words from the scientific community because they sound fancy and then use them in a way that just does not fit the actual meaning of the word.
