I really enjoyed this! I had a thought: A lot of us with chronic illnesses never have these types of doctors visits. This might be reassurance for those with a clean bill of health, but for me, it's pretty unrealistic! My doctors visits can still be reassuring though. Hearing that "failing" a test (values/scores out of a normal range) isn't a personal flaw, having doctors ask, listen and give suggestions or forming plans of action when you bring up your own experiences with problems you're having, and being told that issues that are discovered can be treated, worked on, figured out - *and* they're covered by insurance? Now thats a different, but just as important kind of reassurance right there! 😁
My best friend of many years and my SO both struggle with chronic illness. I feel palpable anger when they're dismissed (partially or totally, and either way probably exacerbated by their being women) by doctor after doctor, and stories like yours and theirs drive me as I progress through medical school. I can only speak to my specific university, but at least here there are definitely many students - and even some members of the medical school professoriate and leadership - who are fighting to change the culture of the field. It's slow progress, because medicine just moves slowly. That's often good when it comes to updating care methods because you want to be confident in the new science first, but when you add in the deep culture of ableism this area of medical culture will likely take a while to get much better. Still, I promise that many of us are trying, and that number will grow as experiences like yours, my best friend's, and my partner's are shared.
So far, up until this video, I have been unable to watch male asmr with the exception of two asmrtists (Articulate Design & Ephemeral Rift) due to sexual abuse in the past. Most men make me feel very on edge and unable to relax. However you have such a kind presence that is not in anyway threatening. Thank you for making these videos. It helps me feel more at ease being close with men again. I'm excited to be a new subscriber 😌
I have PTSD and stayed in areas with gunfire. Watching Caps gun cleaning videos made it easier to disassociate the weapon from the trauma. He's one of two male ASMRtists I watch where I feel absolutely safe. The other is Netflix and Chills. There are great males I watch and I understand that it will take time.. So, whenever you're wanting to, I can recommend a few more for you. Much love and continued healing on your journey. 💖

Oooh the typing sounds at the beginning I loved that. For some reason basic info gathering for real life situations is a big trigger for me so typing sounds are great.
