I meet many Afghans in Australia past 9 years and suddenly few days ago I was thinking of new travel adventure this year and I felt maybe I should plan Afghanistan trip, having travelled 7 continents from Greenland Arctic to Antarctica. One Afghan friend told me I can go and her cousin owns the Afghan private airlines and its running flights now. I am thinking of flying to Delhi then 2hrs to Kabul. Then to Ghazni, Kandahar, Herat and Mazar-i-Shariff, also Bamyan. The road to Jalalabad is the deadliest road in the world so am thinking maybe later. Travelers like you are inspiring and that it's safe to travel

From 3rd Century to 6th Century AD there was no Afghanistan it was part of India under Gupta Empire ruled by King Harsha Vardhan. It was also the time when Hiuen Tsang, the famous Chinese traveller and scholar visited India. The Bamiyan statues were made during that period. The entire population of present day Afghanistan were either Buddhist or Hindus at that time. Secondly A Nation which doesn't value it's own civilization and destroys it's own past heritage just for the sake of religion is absolutely dead. I feel pitty for them, they don't know what they lost.🙏

All foreign countries refused to provide any aid and instead offered 20 million USD for annual maintenance of UNESCO world heritage site, which was be done under UNESCO supervision.
Even their allies (at that time) USA and Pakistan refused to provide them any food or medical help.
This angered the Taliban government at that time who decided to dismantle the heritage site.
