    I’m gonna be real, that little intro lesson was something that I needed to hear right now, and I really wasn’t expecting it! Right now I’m working on getting a bachelors degree in Mechatronics and Robotics and last semester I failed all but one of my classes. I had a talk with a few people, and we came to the conclusion that I should take much less classes every semester, just one or two so that I can really focus on learning the material. Today I was going to look at and reconfigure my schedule that I had planned before I knew my grades. So here, already two years into college, it may take me another four to get that degree. It’s going to be very hard, and it’s going to take me a long time, but I will do it. I can do anything, you can do anything!

    • @elodiekat
      @elodiekat ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @melaniep. ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah for me, my first couple of semesters in college i was not doing well, i did pass my classes but at the minimum requirements and i failed the easiest math class. It took 5 years to finish something that could've taken 2 years but i did it at a pace i knew i could DEFINITELY do well. You're not alone and i wish you the very most best in your journey!

      I was just about the same way back when I went to uni to study mechanical engineering. Slow your pace down if needed. Adjust. Who cares if you need another 4 years? You'll get there eventually. And if not, it's not gonna be the end of your life. I finished after 10 semesters (5 years), worked 30 years as an engineer, 15 of them as lead of development. Just take the time you need. Looking back I would consider the time at uni as the best of my life. Retired now though... :)

    The build really looks great at night. It fits into that cyberpunk feel. Down at ground level everything is bright and eye catching, ultra-illuminated by neon and fluorescent lights. But it's when you look up that you notice the low-hanging smog of the city, the light pollution turning everything the same hazy shade of dark. It's inviting yet smothering at the same time, I love it.

  • @Numbuh1NerdX
    @Numbuh1NerdX ปีที่แล้ว +99

    I gotta say, this building might be my favorite build of the season?? That gradient creates such a cool effect, with just the right amount of silhouetted detail! The way that shop is pretty much half covered in darkness reminds me alot of concept art, specifically the kind you'd see for large cities where lighting is prioritized to get across the overall feeling. It's honestly kinda trippy (while also being cool as heck), cause it genuinely does feel like it was picked out of a artbook or something

    Boomers shop had an exploded second floor this one is full soot upstairs. Your builds are so detailed and tells its own story. Impeccable shading!
    The shop's very eye-catching the dark top is so unusual like a silhouette ppl would notice it right away.

    The building looks like a fire broke out up top and burned half of it to a skeleton, which honestly is really cool. If you built with this sort of color graduation inside of something - for example a cistern - you could make something tall disappear up into the ceiling and give the viewer (from the bottom) the impression that it's taller than it is

    I love how Bdubs is looking for a smithing table and he walks right past it.
    I'll also say that the top of the shop is a bit too dark too make out any detail. I think that's a bit of a shame! But I'll also say that I think if you add a lighter block as windows up top, it might make the details pop a bit without having to over do it. It'll make it look like lights are coming through from upstairs or that you can look through the building and see the sun from the other side. A lot of backgrounds do that sort of thing with really dark buildings to keep them recognizable as buildings.

    Been rewatching a lot of OLD hermitcraft but I really think that Season 9 is probably one of the best - you can really see how everyone learns and takes things with them from each season

    i love the new shop so much!!! the upper half of it being a dark silhouette with no windows or signs makes it look like the light from the street lights doesn't quite reach up there, or like it's late evening and all the trees and buildings look like dark shapes next to the sky

    At 10:40 minutes in my jaw dropped and it is open ever since. That's just out of this world. Nerver seen anything like this done in minecraft and it truely is jaw dropping.

    The shading on the building is interesting. It brings to mind a heavy smog cloud like you might see in a steampunk or dieselpunk setting. I could easily imagine the same technique used on many buildings in a tightly packed city. The way the dark colours blend into a silhouette really enhances the verticality of the building.

    The building looks like steam punk noir, very intricate in detail but implies a well lit street with overcast buildings. I'm inspired to make an entire building like this.

    When bdubs showed the two color contrast blocks and then showed the transition blocks of the build’s palette i literally leaped out of my seat and leaned closer like NO FRICKING WAY thats a BEAUTIFUL color graduation LIKE HOW DO U EVEN FIND THAT AND FIGURE THAT OUT? JUST FINAGLING IN CREATIVE? Insanity.

    I love that building, the shape is so interesting and the colors! Speechless. During the first reveal the dark too almost looked like a broken down mechanical warden reaching down. Then for a moment during the fly around I saw Doofemsmirch Evil Inc 😂

    I love how the dark colors give the top of the build a shadow like feeling. It looks like there is something in the distance that you can barely see, but it looks so cool that you need to check it out!

    The all dark top of the building makes it look shadowed, like the sun is right behind it. In fact, when the sun is, in fact, right behind it, it looks magical. Bdubs you just invented vanilla shaders

    I've never seen a build like this, it's amazing. I now want to see a whole city like this!

    My brain shorted on that build reveal. In the rain, it really made the build pull together in such a way that I felt I wasn't even looking at a Minecraft build anymore.
    Scar was right, man. You're not a builder, you're an artist. You paint with blocks and it's fantastic.

    Building has major neo-noir vibes, looks like something from Shadows of Doubt. I love the atmosphere of bdubs builds!!

    It’s been an unusually terrible morning for me (sister probably broke her foot, we are supposed to go to a 5 day festival this afternoon) and you starting the video with a little anecdote and saying I can do anything even if it takes a long time really helped me.

    Everyone on this server is an amazing builder, but I've never seen a cyberpunk-esque abandoned factory or apartment block (what this most looks like to me) design in Minecraft ever. I absolutely love the appearance of this sort of thing in artwork, but it's even more amazing to see in the game.

    This has got to be one of my fave builds. Using super technical lingo, it is very shape. Good shape.
    Seriously tho, the details just never end and I wouldn't be suprised if I saw that in an irl industrial district
