Luke's interview was originally streamed on my Patreon! I livestream podcasts every Sunday 9pm BST which you can join here and take part in the live chat: www.patreon.com/jushawk
This wasn't an interview so much as it was a conversation. And that's what I love about it. In an actual conversation, you still can find things out about people, but it happens much more naturally and with more subtlety. This was a perfect conversation. Quite relaxing and highly enjoyable.
✨⚠️ Justin, you & Luke are due for another great conversation... Please. I remembered how good this one was, so I decided to watch it again. However another talkie would be great! 😊✨
Catching up on my boy. wow. what an enjoyable chat to sit in on. Luke is utterly lovely! Justin has such a knack for putting his guests at ease and these two sharing stories and talking of serious topics like body image, the difficulties of mgmt/media/promotion/relationships is stellar! Great interview you two.....thank you!!
Playing catch up here, but that was the absolute BEST. Better than any DJ or journalist "interview" with a musician that I have ever seen. Clear mutual respect, shared sense of fun and an actual understanding of what you are talking about. THANK YOU!
Thank you both for talking so honestly about your disordered eating & body image issues. It's an area that (unnecessarily) still carries quite a stigma & it was refreshing to hear a frank discussion around feelings a lot of people struggle with. Male or female, we're all exposed to unrealistic standards & expectations & should feel able to open up the conversation without shame or fear of judgement. In the same vein, I hope the man who asked about the suit in a plus size waist was either joking or unfazed by being laughed at though
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview! It was insightful, funny, revealing and excellent. Luke was brilliant talking about loads of different topics, and it's made me want to check out The Struts - so thank you so much! 🙂
Your point about writing a song in 10 seconds is something I can really relate to. I’ve been writing, producing and performing music since I was about 12. Now at 30, I discovered the perfect formula yesterday morning. I plugged into my Mac, put on a metronome, and pressed record. 10 minutes later I wrote possibly my best and most progressive song I have ever done. Usually I’d be disappointed if it took me long than an hour to write. But this was just free-flowing dynamic magic spilling out of me. Lyrically I accidentally poured out some really interesting and quite moody yet uplifting material that I wasn’t even aware I was feeling. It’s lovely when a song writes itself 😁
I am sooo thankful to Justin for this video- because now I have a new crush not only for Justin but for Luke!!! ♥️ he has the most beautiful features and he has awesome humor😂🤗 all the love to you both from sweden
I used to personally know Jed the bassist from the struts, he used to be in a small pop punk band that my band used to give with a lot and it's so cool seeing him live his dream through the struts
The venue you were talking about with the jacuzzi and sauna backstage upstairs is called “The National”. It’s in Richmond, Virginia. They own an equally awesome venue on the other end of Virginia called “The Norva”. Two of the coolest backstages. “The Bomb Factory” in Dallas has an amazing backstage too. Hot tub, in door basketball court, a gym, all kinds of crazy stuff.
Sorry for posting so much but you guys really should write together. Justin picks up so fast on melodies, that's one of the things that got me hooked on his channel .
Both of you blokes, maybe one generation apart, have that badass Rock&Roll ethos down. Not only the look, but the voices and, finally, a massively kickass band. You both make me totally jelly AF, ya bastards.
I liked that interview. Luke seams like an awesome guy. I'll start listening to some more of the strut's. If he's ever in Canada on tour I'll keep my eyes out for tickets!
A journalist once set up an interview with Keith Richards. Before the camera was on Keith was articulate, sober, and alert. Once the camera was on Keith started slurring his words, and sort of made it known he was drinking vodka. Keith knows exactly what he's doing.
I like the Struts but I can't consider myself a fan... That being said I think Luke is an amazingly charming and honest bloke. This was a great talk. I appreciate you both and sending my love and best of spirits I can spare (I run low at times. Possibly because I fail to be able to bottle these. Working on it tho. lol). Could listen to you lads ramble for hours. Love love XO Jakob
Hey Justin, guess who I saw last night? I discovered this guy's band because of this channel, and naturally had to go see them in concert. They're pretty outstanding. What a frontman. Beautiful smile. So much gratitude. Was sure to thank us for coming, the staff of the venue. Said we had cute accents. Luke makes a concert goer feel so cute and appreciated. What a little gentleman. I had to listen to this again on the way home in the dark. I took the long way so I could listen to most of it. It was fun driving home on the back roads through the tall trees, while you both tell stories about sh*tting your pants. Oddly enough, I wasn't super close to the stage, but close enough to notice his fingernails for some reason. I think he's back on his b.s. with the nail biting, but I WAS a bit far away...I could be mistaken. It's funny he mentioned it (which I don't remember from first listen), because it was an odd thing to take notice of. But great smile, amazing singer, great band. Just love their songs. Sound system was kind of crap though. That would be the only complaint. Thanks for covering them!
Luke, quit the cigs. Your voice is brilliant. Great conversation this was though! Saw the Struts in a small venue in my hometown. Luke treated us like it was Wembley Arena. Fantastic performance
Wow. Over the past 2 decades, both The Darkness and The Struts rekindled my faith that newer generations of hard rock bands still have a place - and a hungry audience.
Dear Mr Rides-Again: I couldn't help but notice that within the confines of this video's parameters, that is to say, between the beginning and the end, the subject of your performances at Knebworth came up. Now, I'm sure you will recall that I was not there for any of those performances, but specifically the one on the Saturday, which is the one that I tried to get to, but which was prevented from doing so by the prevalent traffic situation of the day, meaning that I missed your performance at that iconic venue by similar parameters as the ones found in this video, that is to say, between the beginning and the end. Indeed, with the benefit of hindsight, I may be so bold as to venture that I missed all of it. Fucking all of it. I hope you will forgive a certain amount of repetition within this comment, caused by nineteen years of anger at having missed your performance and having to start that particular day with Sharon Osbourne. I wonder if it might be possible for you to recreate that performance on your channel, perhaps even wearing the same stage costume that you wore on that day (also mentioned in this video)? Don't worry if you can't, I'm quite happy to accept the performance in any costume that you have to hand. x
My 2 favorite front men. Hell I've watched this twice. Glad the Struts just got picked up by the big machine. Now maybe they'll get to where they belong !!!!!!
The Latin phrase origin Justin is trying to think of when Luke talks about ad-libbing is ad libitum, which means "at one's pleasure" or "as one desires".
I like this interview and I do t know either of these guys' music, although I did just race through some Darkness cuts. I'll check out Struts when this is done.
I was thinking about Joan Jett, too! Someone in the comment said something about the Mighty Boosh, too, so then I was reminded of Noel's line on 'Live at the Apollo' about how he looks like Joan Jett on HRT 🤣
Ok then i'm off to obsessivly consume The Struts Rock Godliness being so intrigued by this wonderful confabulation here. Brutally real stories of the adventures we have all gone though with a few notable exceptions - shitstops were more horrifying and commonplace than we(as rockers) care to divulge. I love this conversation!! More of this please - if you bother to listen to an old broadcast. All I can say is when The Struts came to VANCOUVER!!!!! November 2023 they basically killed us!! After the concert I could not hear, speak, and every muscle in my body was violated!! They were Amazing!!! Luke is the average sized man and in reality the only man I will date. Justin you are a little tall but you are very cute, talented, smell good.
pine woods in ny. i played there with hanson 98. i remember unnecessary details too, but honestly all of the amphitheaters and pacs look the same from the stage
Luke's interview was originally streamed on my Patreon! I livestream podcasts every Sunday 9pm BST which you can join here and take part in the live chat: www.patreon.com/jushawk
ALBUM: COVERED IN DARKNESS. You pick the songs & arrange them epically.
This wasn't an interview so much as it was a conversation. And that's what I love about it.
In an actual conversation, you still can find things out about people, but it happens much more naturally and with more subtlety.
This was a perfect conversation. Quite relaxing and highly enjoyable.
Thought this was a Mighty Boosh reunion at first.
Hahahaha rather funny.
Lance Dior and Harold Boom
Miss that show

Two charismatic frontmen shooting the shit. This is great to listen to.
Thank you both for talking so honestly about your disordered eating & body image issues. It's an area that (unnecessarily) still carries quite a stigma & it was refreshing to hear a frank discussion around feelings a lot of people struggle with.

Just discovered this channel...GOLD.
Suppose I will binge listen/watch a bunch of stuff. Splendid.
A true "fly on the wall" moment. Thank yous for letting us in on this! Absolutely fantastic.
My two favorite singers! You guys need to tour together!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview! It was insightful, funny, revealing and excellent. Luke was brilliant talking about loads of different topics, and it's made me want to check out The Struts - so thank you so much! 🙂
My two favorite frontmen talking for 2 and a half hours? Don’t mind if I do!
Aaaaaaand they’re talking about shitting themselves lol
Two of the most talented singers of this era, together. A couple of gentlemen with massive amounts of talent. Pure respect.

This is just too dang awesome!!! Thank you for sharing! I love Jusin and from one Luke to another...I hope and wish the greatest of continued success!
Amazing interview, thank you!
2 and a half hours of my life that I don’t mind never getting back. So enjoyed this
That was a well spent 2 1/2 hours I must say. Thoroughly enjoyed that convo!
Great interview!! Awesome conversation that went by really fast!
Great conversation between two lovely, talented guys. It's fun being a fly on the wall. I appreciate the in-depth discussion on tassels! 😄
I feel like I was sitting at the table with these fellas. What a fantastic conversation between 2 of the best in the business.
Justin Hawkins interviewing 1976 Freddie Mercury .
Lol. Yes it is uncanny.
It really is haha
I am sooo thankful to Justin for this video- because now I have a new crush not only for Justin but for Luke!!! ♥️ he has the most beautiful features and he has awesome humor😂🤗 all the love to you both from sweden
This is good, they are both so entertaining!
I used to personally know Jed the bassist from the struts, he used to be in a small pop punk band that my band used to give with a lot and it's so cool seeing him live his dream through the struts
We need more of this!!! Pls, ask Luke to come to the channel again!
Best thing I've listened to in ages! Very enjoyable listening! Thank you.
Just saw Luke and The Struts at the Ogden in Denver and I was transported!
Thank you both so much for this
Papa Hawk,

This community is awesome. I asked this morning for a Justin Hawkins- Struts video and here I am
Pure Gold. Thanks, guys!
This channel should have at least 1 million subscribers!
The 1st you’re energy and voice is Divine. Keep going mate
Surely these 2 have to Tour together
This is the MOST British thing I have ever watched!
9 minutes in and we're still talking about outfits! Brilliant!
Great interview, guys, thank you!
Loved Luke's work with Mike Oldfield.
Superb video Justin. 👏👏👏✨

That's interesting, a good autobiography as well, a bit deeper than most I found
Dean Martin was the same way. Sho'biz
thank you justin for helping me discover this awesome band!
LOVE you guys...The Struts!❤
Amazing audio/video quality on both ends here. Quite rare.
You gotta be a badass if you're going to have a serious conversation about 'tassels'.
Great stuff. And we got two "shit stories" ! Hilarious. Thank you guy's. Justin....I'll see you this March in Vegas.
That was fun. Thanks Justin and Luke 🖤
This was on originally a year ago but it was a good time hanging out with you guys shooting the shit, haha.
I really enjoy this, from start to end. thank you!
Excellent chat. 2 intelligent gentlemen.
🎸
🎶
I was waiting for a mention of “in love with a camera” to be brought up 🥂
Really fascinating chat..
Thoroughly enjoyed this "interrogation". Also, keep on rocking. Those of us with taste love your stuff.
wow just found this channel. subscribed.

Love Lukes collaboration with Mike Oldfield, so original and fresh, great work Justin.
Kick ass really. Its one of my favorite go toos when I need a pick me up.. Why it hasn't hit the local radios is beyond me. Sailing
Amazing interview.

I saw the Struts when they opened for Guns n Roses in San Francisco.
Saw them many years ago at a festival, nice guys and great to photograph.
I love these guys !!!
Luke, quit the cigs. Your voice is brilliant. Great conversation this was though! Saw the Struts in a small venue in my hometown. Luke treated us like it was Wembley Arena. Fantastic performance
Narc
Zero dislikes. As it should be ❤️
This was class.
12:44 - Ad libitum, from Latin for "at one's pleasure" or "as you desire".
2 of the best singers today.
Wow. Over the past 2 decades, both The Darkness and The Struts rekindled my faith that newer generations of hard rock bands still have a place - and a hungry audience.
Luke is Freddy re-incarnated ! I would love to see see you both play together .
hard rock?

Just googled the Paradise Boston.
Saw a picture of The Struts there 🔥
This is great.
Guys, we are all most definitely looking at you both and thinking you’re buff. You can relax ❤
I need them to collaborate on an epic version of 'I believe in a thing called love'!!!!
That was fantastic.
Tassels and teeth, this is gold. “Do you not find that….” haha, what was supposed to come next??
My 2 favorite front men. Hell I've watched this twice. Glad the Struts just got picked up by the big machine. Now maybe they'll get to where they belong !!!!!!
100%!!! Big Machine never loses haha
Luke is a gentleman and so gracious. Then so dynamic on stage. He is glam rock and personifies what was so special of the Bowie, Mercury, John era.
'Justin and the Chocolate Factory Rides Again'
Make it happen!
I know him from the song Nuclear with Mike Oldfield...amazing song amazing vocal
Ad libitum. The Struts are the real-deal! Wonderful interview.
And just like that I'm in love with these guys 🎵🎵😎💜💜💜
The Latin phrase origin Justin is trying to think of when Luke talks about ad-libbing is ad libitum, which means "at one's pleasure" or "as one desires".
Luke: "I had extremely bad gas..."
Justin: "Apparently is passes."
You guys are the Rock and Roll Abbott and Costello!
I met a bloke who was a tour manager for the darkness called Tim. He was with arctic monkeys at the time. He was a super nice guy ✌️
These guys sound like brothers
I like this interview and I do t know either of these guys' music, although I did just race through some Darkness cuts. I'll check out Struts when this is done.
Luke Spiller really earning the name with that story lmao
That guy looks like a cross between Freddie Mercury and Joan Jett.
I was thinking about Joan Jett, too!
Someone in the comment said something about the Mighty Boosh, too, so then I was reminded of Noel's line on 'Live at the Apollo' about how he looks like Joan Jett on HRT 🤣

Two handsome men talking about catsuits? Yes!
luke was my first crush and i wish to marry him
ad lib is short for "Ad libitum", meaning at 'one's pleasure' or 'as you desire'.
Both have such similar talking voices
Never liked the term shits n giggles but it’s apt for the conversation I’m hearing just now😂
Bullriding being describe as bull teasing and being homoerotic...just to funny. And possibly quite true. 😆😆😆😆😆😆
pine woods in ny. i played there with hanson 98. i remember unnecessary details too, but honestly all of the amphitheaters and pacs look the same from the stage
Luke is a combo of Freddie, Joan Jett and Liza Minnelli! Not a slight but that’s what I see.
Perfect description. 😁
