That's interesting. I think worst case scenario TH-cam could demonetize us. But I think people are overestimating the danger factor. We don't show anyone getting hurt, because no one gets hurt. People do get upset and report us for things like child abuse. But unfortunately, that's too common on the Internet to raise any flags. So we persist! Glad you found us again.
I am super claustrophobic and yet I watch these videos and live vicariously through these guys. My heart races I feel the walls closing in I close my eyes, and when I open them thank God I'm in my living room. You do a great job of letting us experience this with you.
I haven't been in a cave since I was a kid, but since I've moved states and am now in the city, far away from mountains and nature, ive really wanted to go caving. I've binged all the nutty putty and hellhole videos and I'm loving what I'm seeing and learning about. I would never go into most of these caves you're in, but I am super happy to watch this. Thank you. My question for you: when you are in a new cave or are exploring uncharted areas, how do you take precautions for not getting yourself into too-tight-spots. For the mortal man, this is anxiety city, but you and your son are right at home. P.S. you seem like a great dad who is raising what will develop into great people.
It's kind of one step at a time. We didn't just end up in difficult caves. We've been doing this awhile and know how to approach each situation. The basic rule is if you don't fit in a passage you don't fit. It's not that easy to get stuck. If the passage goes downhill we back in feet first. If it's super tight we usually leave and come back with tools as well as other people. Or we just go home and think about it and make a plan. We also have cameras on robots that we can send inside a passage to ensure its basic safety.
I love this channel, they post some of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen in my life. That being said, sometimes these dudes put themselves in situations that I would never attempt. It’s all about experience and will power, I’ve never even been in a cave.

You guys make me wanna visit a cave... tho only the ones with tourist routes :D I am waaay to big to crawl into a normal small cave like anything we see here... still, the love for exploration, the challenge and adventure beams through your videos. Loving them!
Thank you guys for doing this (so I don't have to). This is awesome and, for me at least, very terrifying! Looking forward to your future explorations!
You're welcome. This cave was pretty terrifying.
I almost thought TH-cam removed you guys... I had always thought you had more subs, and when I went searching for you guys I could not find you... And I was even subed to yall.
I can’t even crawl under my bed. My anxiety from watching these videos is through the roof, but that just shows how great the editing is 👍
I am super claustrophobic and yet I watch these videos and live vicariously through these guys.
I find myself watching and I catch myself squirming like Im the one going through. I think that speaks volumes about how great your filming is.
Thank you! And the cave is freezing cold which is the biggest enemy of trying to take decent video. I've never been able to feel my own fingers.
Jacob is an absolute beast. Respect to that young man
I love this channel, they post some of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen in my life. That being said, sometimes these dudes put themselves in situations that I would never attempt. It’s all about experience and will power, I’ve never even been in a cave.
Thank you. Sometimes we put ourselves in situations that a lot of cavers aren't willing to do. The danger notwithstanding, it's very uncomfortable.
But we down here havin a good time.
I can’t even imagine how much your upper body must be burning pulling yourself through those tunnels!!! Not for the weak 💪🏼😛 great video as always guys! 👌🏼
It's a good core workout. Training is pull ups.
Great father son relationship. I am happy for you guys. Nothin but good fortune your way guys!
Thanks much! Uncle/nephew, but most of the family caves.
@@billsanders9387 I have since learned after watching more videos! I'm sorry to make the mistake but none the less love the group! Definite goals for my babies.
Don't you ever worry if the those areas cave in from the weight outside or earthquakes?
No. Caves don't cave in.
caves cave in but youre thinking about cartoons its different
I can answer this for you lol
Do you ever worry about going about your day and then getting hit and crushed by a truck semi truck?
Live life in the moment not in the what ifs...
@@CalvinHikes oh, really?
@@joshnelson125I mean I'm just thinking that these places have been around hundreds of thousands of years or whatever .....they've seen every sort of weather system and geological event during that time I'm sure
I love y'all's videos and I watch them as soon as I get a notification that they're out. Keep them coming
So nice to see the kid from malcom in the middle find a new career 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bruh... Not even close
Just the thought of getting stuck in tight holes is making me anxious. You guys have so much courage to do this. One bad move could be costly in such caves.
You guys are nuts! I hate caves because I'm claustrophobic, but I love nature. Great job and beautiful cave.
Different strokes for different folks!
It's a hell no from me but I can't stop watching & I randomly stumbled across this channel 🙈!
Hikeman caves, i really love watching these videos Even i get anxiety of em Time to time 😃
How would a bigger person like an adult turn around in the same spot as Jacob
You wouldn't. I could not turn around so whatever we crawl down I had to crawl out backwards.
@@CalvinHikes wow really😳
They wouldn't
Not only the size, but the worm like flexibility of the younger body. You just don't have that as a grown man.
@@EricLS I suggest a new nickname for Jacob… el gusano 😜
Idk why I watch these videos. Every time I'm like "screw that!" "They are insane!" "How are they not panicking?!?" One thing is for sure, you won't catch me in cave like that but I'm happy to watch them.
Still maniacs!! Agree this channel should have way more. Hope Caver Keith Checks out this page.
I have a feeling young Jacob will be the best S&R squadmate ever
I love it how you both have covid and are out together all alone, cave exploring. That is so cool to me. Jake is lucky to have a father like yourself.
didn't effect them at all
This makes me quite grateful my grandmother makes me eat alot of great food everytime I see her.
When I watched the JJ documentary I got really scared of caves cuz I also once was stuck in a cave that the exit was covered by heavy snow (our entire group spent 2 hours to dig ourselves out) However the more I watched the videos and learned, I became less anxious. Love your videos! Stay safe ☺️
That sounds like a really cool adventure. You know, once you are out!
I started with one video and I honestly thought and literally said these people are going to be a subject on a Mr Ballen video. After binging your videos I got to say, what you both are doing is amazing and you both have my respect and props. Liked and Subbed!!!
I keep hearing about this other guys videos but you know we are too busy caving!
There's a lot of videos out there that are based on fake fear and drama. Even though what we do is crazy we try to be fairly straightforward about the process. There's no need for the truth to be embellished.
@@CalvinHikes He actually is a retired navy seal that just tells stories on TH-cam. Many of them are stories about people getting stuck in caves and so on. Like your one video though...many fatal accidents can be avoided if done correctly. I love your content though, Please be safe and keep up the amazing work bringing us video of the unseen world. I really hope this channel blows up for yas and hope you really get noticed in the TH-cam world.
Another Awesome video of you and Jacob pushing yourselves to the limit crawling around under the earths crust!! That’s how I see you, cave hunters! I wish I could watch your videos without taking a break because my gut starts tightening up, but I ALWAYS come back. Most times I’m still listening, just not watching! But I’m excused, I’m 66 years old.
Binge watching trying to see if I can overcome my fear and shock of what you do.
We'll try to make it worse
You guys are crazy! I’d like to do but I doubt I could. We don’t have this kinda stuff in the St. Louis area. Stay safe and keep on bringing these awesome videos!!!!
You mean you think you don't have that stuff in the Saint Louis area. Caves abound! We live in an area that has some of the least caves in the entire United States.
Thanks for the encouragement!
dude look online im sure you can find a group or two in your area
I am so claustrophobic I feel dizzy with panic when I watch these videos, yet I cant stop watching for some reason. The fact there are people out there that find enjoyment doing this stuff is crazy haha
Awesome content. I myself have been cave exploring for the past 15 years. We have seriously crazy caves here in Florida. Thats awesome you are teaching Jacob at a young age. Is he your son or just a family member. Either way thats a huge trust that you both share in eachother. Keep it up. Stay safe
Jacob is my nephew.
What kind of caves you all got in Florida? That's cool.
Just the idea that someone behind me might get stuck, effectively meaning I'm stuck, would be enough to drive me over the edge. Assuming, of course, that I would put myself in that situation to begin with. Which ain't gonna happen!
You are a very inspiring human being. A walking example of mind over matter. You all are awesome!
From what I've learned, getting stuck in a cave is a pretty rare occurrence and has only happened because of mistakes
Obviously, lol.
Well yeah that's the only reason you'd get stuck genius
@@dayzreloadedpve 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
or poor judgement though that could also be considered a mistake
I start watching the video then stop because the anxiety starts creeping in. And then I start watching again because I have to see you get out. I could never do what you guys do.
i have terrible claustrophobia and would never do something like this yet i love videos like this
You 2 are crazy well done I enjoy your videos but I don't think I could ever do this maybe in a big cave but some of those tight spaces would just freak me out
I can only watch these video,s with one eye. To prevent a panic attack.
This is a therapeutic experience even though I have to continuously remind myself to relax and breathe. It's like a full body workout and a mental exercise. I love what y'all do, keep it up and stay safe ❤
I could quote you as the exact reason why we do it. It's therapeutic and a full body workout.
extremely happy to know i’m never doing this shit
What a great watch! Thanks for sharing
I am a former caver from Kentucky. My days of crawling on my belly as my back scrapes the cave ceiling are long over and I feel thankful to still be living. Even if I were thin like I was then, there’s no way. The thought of these really tight caves terrifies me now. Maybe it’s the John Jones story that was the tipping point for me.
What an adventure! May I join you on your next trip?
Just kidding. I'm pretty sure I would freak out at some point and start crying while experiencing a "fear of death". Definately quite a challenge to remain calm and collective in those intensinve situations. Much respect to you guys.
This cave was tough. It was also just cold and rainy. Winter caving is much harder as there's no relief from the elements. But what's brutal makes us tougher!
I can't breathe by just watching this video.
As terrified as I would be in a cave I think I would actually feel somewhat safer knowing that Calvin and Jacob had my back!! Calvin's experience and calm nature is incredible! Jacob's nerve and maturity is mind blowing! Awesome stuff!
Kind words are always appreciated.
JACOB BY FAR, IS THE BRAVEST, AND MOST CALM CAVER, I HAVE EVER WITNESSED, HE DOES IT BETTER THAN THE VETERANS, BUT THE GUY WITH HIM, THOUGHT HIM WELL!!!!!!💪
I e been watching a lot of these caving videos the last couple days and I think I want to do the same thing. For me, tight spaces are comforting and I love exploring. The joy that you two get out of this is inspiring. Thank tou
It's like a hug from a cave! That's what we tell ourselves so we don't panic.
Breaks my heart to know my son will never feel his uncles love like this again. You're an amazing Uncle, man. Best wishes to you guys.
Thank you so much!
Great job you guys! Keep up the good work. I can see how much effort you are putting into these videos.
Thanks. Effort and blood.
