I hope we surprise everyone and do really well this upcoming year. Wish John wasn't the only Locked on guy who seems like he always doubts his team could actually do well.
Pittman: I think it comes to down to 6-6--that will be the minimum. Reach that and go bowling again and he'll probably be back in 2026. Anything less than that, and especially if the season goes off the rails and the Hogs end up 3-9 or 4-8, then he'll be gone. Resigns? Fired? Retires? Dunno. But I think 6-6 is the line in the sand.
When the SEC dominated, the winning template for teams was great defenses and strong running games. It was fundamental football that worked very effectively, as evidenced by the conference dominating other conferences in head-to-head matchups for two decades. The SEC's downward trend started when the conference decided they wanted to look more like the Big12 with gimmicky HUNH offenses.
Well Bama started doing it with top notch, four deep talent and it worked immaculately. LSU 2019 was an absolute fluke perfect storm of a team. After that Georgia went back to fundamentals and now the NIL has cut a layer of depth from the SEC. It's just an adjustment period.
@@NobleVillian I guess your argument works if you measure a conference's strength by one team in it winning a national championship. I'm referring more to the overall top-to-bottom strength of the conference, and it's been in decline since the league-wide adoption of these "modern" offenses.
@justadude99 I mean it would be silly to say that the SEC's perception of how strong we have been wasn't shaped a lot by Alabama's sheer dominance. I actually think the SEC was pretty strong this year. We love to eat each other alive. The issue is, as I said, the transfer portal has wiped out a level of depth that the SEC used to have and spread it around a bit more, and the natural wear and tear of injuries over the season affects us more. Offensive Linemen are scarce at a high quality level and they all used to go to a handful of schools that were dominant. Now lines are thinner, injuries hurt more, and the SEC has enough talent to make each other pay for that.
@@NobleVillian I'm not really buying the scarcity of offensive linemen. There wasn't a sudden nationwide shortage of offensive linemen as if we had an El Nino shift in weather patterns changing genetics. IMHO, it had more to do with fans among the "have nots" in the SEC desperately looking for an answer to beat Alabama, LSU, and Georgia, so they think converting to a HUNH offense will get them over the hump. Once you've made the decision to go that route, then you are recruiting/developing a different type of offensive lineman than you would for a power running game. The type of linemen fit for a power running game are simply going elsewhere or being developed in a different manner.
I hope to God Pittman is fired before end of season, I hate this guy so much. I have wanted him gone since Odom left. He's a terrible coach who is out of his depth. Arkansas deserves a real football coach, not a fat pathetic has been offensive line coach. I would be shocked if arkansas wins more than 3 games next season. That roster is so bad. Even if he goes 6-6 again, that isnt good enough. nothing is good enough anymore.

Yeah, we should be thrilled about blowing games against a 3-9 OK State team and a Mizzou team we have no business losing to every year. Nailed it. @ so, according to you, if we stuck Nick Saban at Arkansas, or Lane Kiffin, they wouldn’t perform any better than Sam Pittman. Kiffin can have success at Ole Miss but not Arkansas because I guess apparently the state of Mississippi is just stupid with money by comparison to Arkansas. This may be the most idiotic take I have ever seen.
@NickIrmen kiffen won the sec ? I'm sorry I must have miss that oh he must have made the playoffs ? did he make the sec championship game ? no I think they just won the gator bowl lol that's about equal to the liberty bowl means nothing
@@stevo306 who cares if he won the SEC? You said the fans had unrealistic expectations, but as far as I am aware, nobody has ever made winning the SEC the litmus test for which success is judged. What we said was we expect 7-8 wins most years and every once or twice a decade, yet 10 or more wins. There’s actually a ground somewhere between accepting Sam Pittman and pretending winning the liberty bowl every year is awesome and expecting your team to win the SEC title every season. No, Lane Kiffin has not an SEC title. Are you now suggesting he isn’t a better coach than Pittman based upon that ridiculous standard? No, he hasn’t made the playoffs, but he likely would have done so last year had there been a 12-team playoff instead of 4, and he only barely missed it this year.

It shouldn’t be. 6-6 should get him the axe.
🤦 6-6 he needs to go. Should be gone already.
I like Sam but I believe this coming year will be be his last as H C at Hogville!
