"One of the ways that I learned to code, was actually through making art." Probably everyone.. Even myself! ;) Great compilation of projects in this video talk. Thanks for uploading.
This is truly the edge. The type of images that emerge on Dan’s Coding Train demos have been , in my mind, as an artist mostly dead end: oh that’s cool, and forget it. You can’t compose art with it. But now gestural generative art is emerging. Such as with connect. And the results are amazing. E.g the dance is a moving body composition, and the Kinect particlizes it and adopts the composed shapes of the dancer. A Fibonacci spiral is in essence already done, and has no compositional nuance. Coding needs to include human gesture. Think about painting: a hand moving a brush from mixing on a palette to making strokes , making thousands of micro decisions on how this particular stroke affects the field: how each new piece moves the mass, and also builds a structured composition: theme and variation. When a gesture moves thru a field it creates a set of relations in the field that are infinitely unique, new fresh. This is the basis of a new art.
The Coding Train is my favorite channel
Loved his energy.
You are the best man! Thanks for giving us these insights.
