Making a splash earlier this month-7 August, to be exact-the nearly 15,000-square meter aquarium in northwestern Taoyuan is the first overseas facility of Japanese theme park operator Yokohama Hakkeijima Inc. under Seibu Holdings, Inc. and is a joint venture with Taiwan’s Cathay Life Insurance.
XPark Aquarium is part of a massive recreational complex that also includes a hotel, cinema, and outlet mall, which has partially opened as well.
As the crown jewel of the entire complex, XPark Aquarium strives to create the most immersive experience for guests by recreating temperatures, humidity, and even aromas to mimic different living environments-a statement from Cathay Life Insurance said.
