The modern LHW would have absolutely smoked a guy like Chuck. Even some of the lower ranked fighters. We have to respect and appreciate what they did but lets be real, the last dozen or so years worth of guys would have wrecked him in his prime.
I think a 30 year old Chuck would be trouble for alot of 205 pounders today. He is awkward and throws huge hay makers that connect with alot of power. High level wrestler with great take down defense forcing you to slug it out. His chin faded with age, but young Chuck could take a punch as well as anyone.
@pauliecopez2683 yeah man no doubt young Chuck was a fucking beast. I think Rampage cracked his chin at UFC 71 and then Rashad completely exploded it at ufc 88. I still think that’s the most brutal 1-punch KO of all time.

@ Yeah, but he won mostly off natural talent. His fundamentals were atrocious. Once his chin went his career was over cause he had no defensive skills.
@ My friend, all due respect, but if you have to even ask that question you’re effectively admitting to me you don’t understand what basic fighting fundamentals even are, which is fine, but just know as someone who at least trains irregularly and has been following boxing and mma for over 20yrs, I at the very least understand Chuck was more of a glorified brawler than he was a technically proficient martial artist. He was able to get away with it before mma became a much more technical affair. I love Chuck but if he brought that style to the table today, he likely wouldn’t even make it into the UFC without first becoming a much more technically disciplined fighter than he was.
