    7:25 On that note, it seems like a lot of fan art has gotten intentionally uglier, especially if you look at tumblr tags-- ten years ago, it was just because of amateur skill that proportions would be off or other mistakes along those lines, but these days there seems to be a deliberate stylistic trend of making characters "realistic" by adding jarring characteristics like extra fatness, stretch marks, body hair, etc. that never existed in the original character design. You can see this most clearly with reimagined anime characters. Anime as a medium is very minimalistic in how bodies are drawn, plus it's stylized heavily in favor of Asian beauty standards, so tumblresque western fan art can look pretty grotesque as a result since it's so far removed from the original design.

      It's almost as if they think prefering to look at attractive people is somehow bigotry. So they're conditioning themselves to idolise ugliness for woke points.

    I remember reading a fic where one of the male characters was written as a trans guy and it completely messed with my head like, I'm reading it as an escape it doesn't make me feel better that this character is now as messed up as I am wanting to be a guy. I'd rather him just be a guy

    This is a massive social phenomena we need more people speaking critically about it. So thank you for doing this.
    I wanted to comment on something you said though about the 3 motives for transitioning and how you're the entire "Venn diagram"- I think most people are all three as well. I suspect it's the autism/aspergers that creates the autoheterosexuality, that AH then manifests in gender dysphoria and homosexual behavior/attractions.

  • @thecomedyclub9615
    @thecomedyclub9615 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Also, on the three reasons for transitioning comment. I wanted to ask with your mindset at this time, as well as your knowledge and history. Could you fully say that transitioning will help anyone or anything with these problems? Or do you think ultimately that there’s no such thing as transitioning “helping?”
    Also! If you ever make a video on autism and it’s impacts in the transgender community, more specifically causing people to transition! I will gladly watch it! For that’s a topic I’ve seen in this world as well, and people around me.

    • @CourtneyCoulson
      @CourtneyCoulson  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I don't think transitioning helps at all, first of all the hormones and surgery are harmful, but they don't truly make you into the opposite sex. It only serves to make the patient feel more inadequate, chasing the body they can't ever really attain.
      I really do need to make another video on autism.

    One last thing, yuri is surprising since it is mostly written by women. While of course there are sexual lesbian stories. Yuri is surprisingly a good niche at the moment. One of the most interesting things that I believe that has affected my view on this was the lego study on why boys played with legos more. Despite legos being fairly gender neutral and the marketing encompassing both boys and girls.
    They studied how girls and boys built and played with castle Legos, and they found that boys built the castle and then enacted battles in front of it - the castle was just the backdrop. The girls built the castle and then were disappointed that there wasn’t anything going on inside of it where they wanted to enact their stories. They also learned that the girls were more interested in smaller projects, and that they were more likely to want to see themselves in the minifigs. And thus “Friends” was born, with hearts and butterflies and pink and purple colors and listed on the Lego website under the category of “girls.”
    Boys will enact the role of the character they are playing as. This is even seen in virtual reality when a man plays as a woman. They take on that role. Same when they played spiderman or grand theft auto or etc. Women on the otherhand want to see themselves in their media. They want to be that person. Twilight, yaoi and relating to the submissive guy, baldurs gate, etc.
    This sadly has led to really bad female characters like Rey from star wars. She is such a badly written character and yet women will defend her like one of their gods. Its because they see themselves in that character and they view it as a personal attack if you dont like said character. Think about how if you criticize any of this how immediately and innately offended this specific group is.
    Because to them, they are the person, and sadly i believe that leads to shitty storytelling.
    Its why female characters have slowly been made uglier which is kinda hilarious. Yet, the male characters are still mostly on steroids or more feminine and attractive regardless.
    Badlrus gate having sex with a bear is perfectly fine. Stellars blade is literally the holocaust because hiw dare you make an attractive female character. You literally committed a war crime. The difference? Young women specifically view themselves and feel you are personally attacking them. While guys generally dont give a shit. Because they don't view themselves as these character. They may get mad because theylike the character and they like the specific way that character is portrayed but they often defend that depiction rather than trying to force any change. Change can be good or can be bad depending on a variety of things. I personally am not against it but soulless companies don't often portray human experiences that particularly well. I believe the exceptions are things like lord of the rings movies who had a passionate person behind the project.
    I think its kinda sad but i believe that is why barbie is criticized and heman was not. I think its something that really needs to change.
    As for venom snake, he is clearly on steroids. There is an awesome video i will link that talks about this. But his physique is not possible in his state without juice. Yet, again, this is fine. Because boys and young men, view these men as something to inspire to be. It can lead to negative emotions but i think most guys view these men as the hercules or alexander the great of old.

    • @CourtneyCoulson
      @CourtneyCoulson  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I'd like to see that video about Venom Snake. He gains all that muscle in a matter of weeks, it's insane, even if it's regaining, rather than gaining for the first time. I was bodybuilding on testosterone, I grew fast, but not that fast. And you're right about the inherent differences in the way men and women each respond to the world. We are not the same.

      This video does a good job describing how male expectations are also just as absurd as women. It isn't just one side of the coin doing it. Both men and women do so. While I believe there are differences between women and men, I honestly think these differences aren't bad or negative. I believe we should enjoy these differences andnunderstand them. As well as understand the massive range both men and women can experience these things. I've seen masculine men and incredibly feminine men as well as masculine women and incredibly feminine women. Both are awesome. Be you. Don't give a damn that's much more fun to be who you want to be then to strap labels onto it.
      I love metal gear solid, Naked Snake is a badass, sexy as hell and an interesting character and certainly a masculine figure. No one denies that and that intense training regime is certainly wild. But he's something to aspire to be. I don't want to be Naked Snake, I want to be like him though. Same with Ripley from Alien. I want to be like her too.
