The decision to leave Ilion permanently was almost three years ago.

These democrat scum destroying this country as fast as they can. Unfortunately
I am retired from Remington with over 36 years of service. The closure of the Ilion plant was inevitable and frankly long overdue. Remington was the last large employer in the area. A lot of factors contributed to this including the effect of the company being sold to leveraged buyout organizations with an ultra-short term financial goal which stripped the company of the ability to sustain itself coupled with having to work with a 19th century inefficient physical plant. Of course the state government and dominant political entities were openly hostile to the business as well. Another contributor was an intransigent unionized work force. All of these factors coupled to make it impossible to continue making guns in New York.
Was curious whether there was a union involved, especially an intransigent organization. Worked for a couple union companies, sometimes it seemed like employees there wanted the companies to fail.
@@mattywho8485 Unions have done good as well as bad, the coal miners weren't lazy but the companies where surely greedy providing substandard conditions and pay. Fun fact: A major contributor to the outcome of the U.S. civil war was a near complete lack of arms manufacturing in the south. That is no longer the case as states in the northeast and west coast have driven the manufacturers of arms and ammunition to the south and midwestern states.
Smith and Wesson did the same thing in light of the trend of Massachusetts tightening their grip on gun control. S&W went to Tennessee and moved its entire operation there during 2023, what was once S&W HQ in Springfield, is now just a small satellite location with a skeleton crew. Their Deep River, CT location is gone as well. Smith did offer to transfer employees wishing to relocate to Tennessee, and offered a stipend to help them move. Between the taxes and laws someone would have to be nutz to open a business in that state.
@@filster1934All unions do is protect the lazy
@@mattywho8485 Unions have done good as well as bad, the coal miners weren't lazy but the companies where surely greedy providing substandard conditions and pay. Fun fact: A major contributor to the outcome of the U.S. civil war was a near complete lack of arms manufacturing in the south. That is no longer the case as states in the northeast and west coast have driven the manufacturers of arms and ammunition to the south and midwestern states.
Smith and Wesson did the same thing in light of the trend of Massachusetts tightening their grip on gun control. @@sapper9968 Who knows? I just know that I (naively) expected upstaters to be the big libs, since they’re away from all the crime in New York City. It’s NYC that suffers most, with the Democrats in charge. And to my amazement, the upstaters wanted Zeldin, from what I coukd see. Those most likely to be harmed by Hochul are the city folks, in my opinion, since she would never fire Bragg (the liberal encouraging all the crime!).
To my amazement, it was the suckers in 4 of the Boroughs who flipped the voting in favor of Hochul. They deserve what they’re getting!
