Old Post, only watching it now, there are just so many excellent channels its hard to keep up with you all..
Cal looks like he is truly pulling amps there lol.
In South Africa we are required(regulations) to log all contacts on HF, anything 50Mhz and above is not a requirement though.
Thanks for the excellent work you all do for us.

N3FJP handles the location issue for LOTW very well. Before you submit your group of QSO's to LOTW you select your location (state and county) and the callsign used and you are done.

Nice session. I'm just switching from RumlogNG (a fantastic log program for MAC) because the Anan I ordered requires a PC. So, I really appreciated the various thoughts on logging software. I looked at the Log4OM manual and liked the features such as CAT control-will likely give that a try. Thanks Jason for that suggestion. --Bob, Ki1n

One advantage to logging is if the FCC comes knocking on your door with a complaint from a neighbor, you have some documentation to show you were not the source of the complaintant's interference. Wish I could find a logging app that will work on my Android tablet. They work on my phone, but not the tablet.

Despite some of the issues they had when it changed hands some years ago, HRD has really stepped up their Customer Service in the last couple of years. I absolutely love it. I use it for my daily work, especially with the integration with WSJT-X, makes logging really easy. I do still use N1MM for contests, and then import the .adif file to HRD. HRD then does all the heavy lifting uploading logs to LOTW, eQSL, QRZ, and hamlog, award tracking, etc. Surprised it didn't get more representation in the the live stream.

I use N3FJP for my main log and N1MM for contesting, N3FJP contesting programs are fun too.
I started playing with Log4OM but it looked like a big learning curve that i'm not interested in.
When I'm portable Hamlog is awesome and it has tons of features.

Clarification to point made in the chat: non-ARRL members can get LotW credit and ARRL awards. Non-members do have to pay more for the award applications, though.

Although I don't use a Mac in the shack, my favourite looking log interface is Maclogger DX - wish it had a PC version. HRD is good but occasionally frustrating. Log4om defeats this OM!. Good chat guys.

I'm a fan of N3FJP. 99.9% of my contacts are FT8 so there is no data entry for me. My gripe is that any changes to the database take forever. I have 30k contacts so I know it's not going to be fast but if I ask it to sort log by date or remove duplicates it takes 5 minutes. I've tried it on 3 computers and all are about the same however none are considered high-end gaming computers. If I could manipulate the data like I can (and as fast) as Excel then I'd be super happy.

Thanks again Cal. Although taking my time getting txing, I'm doing things logically. Sorted some kit issues with the dx394 and proved the ferrite choke box i made a fair while ago works. Recent callsigns are from co. Galway' exeter, couple of Orkney n shetands, Scotland and a fair few other C/S in uk. So serving my apprenticeship! My next step is to build my dB on N1mm which I've already started on but yr video makes a huge difference. Thanks to you, my Military comms experience, my electronics BTEC and 26 yrs IT are all coming together. You've the glue that cemented all the stuff together. I've had a right laugh on 40 in the few days. Some notes.. folk should not over modulate! Folk should not talk for 15 mins without pausing for a break. There are idiots out there as we said years ago "keying over" legit users. Idiots. And a lot more. I'm basically just about there. I have heard decent quality sound on weak signals from most of the manufacturers. So good audio is key to good QSOs! Not necessaily 400 watts and a remote tower up a welsh hill! Bravo Zulu!

MacLoggerDX is awesome. It’s loaded with features yet simple to set up and operate. Of course I gave up PC in 2008, went 100% Apple shortly thereafter and never looked back, so the choice wasn’t difficult being there are limited choices for Mac. 🤷‍♂️

I love how noone ever mentions DXLab. I've been a loyal user for years. It's good for general logging, but little weak on contesting. But i'm not much of a contest participant so never bugged me.

Ham Radio 2.0 DXKeeper is the logger. There are multiple programs including dxkeeper that make up dxsuite. The suite includes a separate program for controlling via cat called Commander, technically it’s also a DXCommander 🤣

N3fjp is a mess in my 4k large monitor, doesn't work well on my uhd laptip screen also.
I tried Swisslog despite nobody talking about it and it its surprisingly fully featured and free. Works for me. Search on google images and you'll see what I mean!
