If I were a spiritual person, I'd consider Alex Skolnick's solo in this song definitive prove of the existence of a higher power.
This song was kinda Testament's answer to Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters." In my opinion, Alex Skolnick's guitar solo is one of the 10 best rock solos ever recorded! It is just a masterpiece of composition and chops! When he bends to the E6s halfway through... I get chills every time!
One of my fav thrash band can't get no better then this need more kick ass band
They are often considered to be one of the BIG 4 in Thrash. Skolnick was a student of Satriani.
I honestly think testament or exodus deserves that spot more than anthrax
He was also a literal child when he joined the band. Testament IMHO is the best of the Big 4.
@@travischeesman9577 probably only got one anthrax song on my Spotify playlist... didn't even know they were considered big 4 lol
That delayed guitar part at the end is one of the presets on the Eventide H-3000 Ultra-Harmonizer. It's a reversed delay that is harmonized to a a key you pick. So many people loved it that you can hear it all over guitar albums from the late 80's & very early 90's.
I spent many hours getting lost in the wild presets and insane sounds you could get out of that machine. So much fun!
Vai was one of the first ones to make it stand out on an album that I heard.
The Ritual is excellent. They get pretty brutal. this album is really fairly commercial for them, Electric Crown off this is great.
An excellent thrash metal band. This is my favorite ballad of theirs. Also check out Trail of Tears(full 6:09 length)
For Testament going harder - First Strike is Deadly 3:46, Over the Wall 4:10, Eerie Inhabitants 5:12, Disciples of the Watch 5:06,Envy Life 4:18.
Testament! Yes!
Good ballad, but if you liked it, "Trail of Tears" off their following album "Low" is around 100 times the feeling. A sublime song no one ever talks about but to me the most beautiful metal ballad ever, nothing less. And Murphy on that song reaches greatness with magnificent solos. Check it out!
If you want to hear some early metal = " Sins A Good Mans Brother" 1970,,, Grand Funk Railroad. This is a GREAT 3 piece band, They soldout Shea Stadium in 3 days ,it took The Beatles 7 weeks, Grand Funk was the first American band that had 10 consecutive Platinum albums..
I was teen when Grand Funk were topical. Never thought of them a "metal".
Check out the album The Gathering. They have Dave Lombardo from Slayer on drums. The whole album is a lesson on double kicks.
Good stuff.
I still haven't found a better solo than this in all these years.
Old school plenty of good tunes enjoy
I request that you do a reaction to Cheap Trick. Tough to say which song because there's so much good stuff. To give you a variety, here's some to try: The Flame, Ballad of TV Violence, Surrender, Dream Police, Heaven Tonight, I want you to want me, etc.
A couple things of not, that's actually not Alex Skolnick or Louie Clemente in the music video. They had both left the band by the time this video was shot. I honestly don't even know who's playing lead guitar in the video, but that's definitely John Tempesta on drums. He played drums on a couple Testament albums(including the awesome, underrated Low) and was also in White Zombie/Rob Zombie. Also this song and The Ritual album as a whole are not really representative of Testament's typical Bay Area thrash metal. The Ritual is by far their most commercial work, though still a really good album. Go listen to Demonic(their heaviest album) and you'll probably be shocked that it's the same band LOL.
this particular video was made years after the song was released. It shows John Tempesta on drums in the video, and I know the lead guitar player in the video is not Alex Skolnick!
Testament is still the greatest group..
Legacy was my intro, same year as release.
Over the Eall!
Need to do their heavy stuff and hear some videos to do. #1 TRAIL BY FIRE. #2 NEW ORDER #3 THE LEGACY # 4 LOW,hope that helps
this song is really good, but "the ballad" was the blueprint fo this and is so much better.
I think James Murphy is in this video, I can be wrong.
You really can't go wrong with testament, death angel , Exodus or overkill. Either way salute
testament has an album for everyone, soft medium heavy... they did it all... easy band to introduce people to metal with
Our Boys...Bay Area Thrash forever
Alex played with Trans Sibieran Orchestra.
no way you interrupted the song to plug your patreon 😂😂 rank, deleting my other comments and saving them for someone elses video
So when are people gonna realize today's metal sucks d
