- How to understand the differences between all the minelab pulse induction metal detectors, this is from using these detectors over decades prospecting for gold. #minelab #metaldetecting #metaldetector
Hi Woody… A very informative video.. Certainly clarified a few things for me… I also wanted to reiterate how impressed I am with the modifications to my GPZ 7000. As you mentioned in your clip, the old gold workings of yesteryear have been well and truly worked by every detector known to man…to the point where finding anything over a gram or two would be considered a great day out.. Especially up here in the Whipstick Forrest (Bendigo). Since you have modified my machine, I have continued to visit old workings within the Whipstick that are generally regarded as being “flogged to death”. (Just to find a genuine target to dig can be a major achievement..) I’m constantly shaking my head in disbelief at the small gold (and lead shot) I am managing to pull out of these areas. I even pick up clear targets on top of mullock heaps that every man and his dog, his cat and his ferret have walked over, but not heard.. I sincerely believe that your ability to reduce the noise floor in my 7000, has helped to hear the small sub-grammers at greater depth.. I estimate that I’m getting ‘at least’ another couple of inches in depth on the 0.1g and 0.2g sized pieces, with the depth increase more prominent as the target size increases.. An unexpected issue that I have noted, is my inability to use my 12” Nuggetfinder Zsearch coil since the modifications.. Due to hearing issues with background noise, I always use headphones in the bush.. Now that the 7000 runs more quietly, the ‘hollow’ sound of the thicker Zsearch coil moving over the ground is much more prominent through the headphones and very distracting. I stick to running the standard 14” Minelab coil with great results… Someone who doesn’t use headphones may not find this an issue, but I thought I should mention it out of interest… Will continue to keep you updated on my experiences with my modified GPZ 7000.. I can’t thank you enough Woody… Regards, Steven ☺️
Thank you ..very interesting ...I have a Sd 2200d ..haven't found any gold as yet but plenty of junk...I'm old school so I love this detector ..
Thankyou woody , that good information on the detectors , and coils
Thank you for your good explanation Mr. Dave.
You are very welcome
Hi woody I have sd2000 modified by Barrie Johnson came with sheets of paper on how to mod a detector where Barriers mod’s ok haven’t had the chances to use it yet. Cheers Mark
His mods were very good, as it allows optimising the detector to the size of coil.
Thank you so much for this video...
I found it most informative for me. As I have a sd 2000.
I would love to do the full upgrades but simply do not have money.
I am running on the smell of an oily rag...
It SUX BIG TIME.
I'm keen as to get out but I do wonder if my detector is working correctly. Catch 22 . Grrr. I'm Geraldton and have been out a few times to good ground . But seem to miss out. 😕 thanks again buddy
The best and cheapest thing to do to to sd2000 is install a 3.2 Mhz crystal.
@@DetectorMods what does this mod achieve bud
Hi can I please have some info in how to make my Minelab 2300 to become quiet.
What is wrong with it? It can be anything.
In the new GPX 5000 series, the contrast of the LCD is very low. what's the solution? Thankful
That is a good question, I suspect that the display contrast can be changed by changing a resistor on the display board, I will have a play and see what can be changed, but I think you may be right.
It would be very helpful if you make a clip about this. Thank you very much.
