Matt took your advise and got fitted for my irons. I was shocked. I am 62, 5 HDCP, with a low ball flight and have been playing the ZX7 Sixrons with a project x LZ 105gram shaft. The fitting was great, but I ended up with Titleist T300 with AMT Red shaft. Shot one over in my first round with them. Its unreal how high I hit the ball and the fill is close but not quite to the ZX7. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know about the Driver when I get that done. Sorry I know you are doing a putter video. Lol

I purchases an Odyssey White Hot number 4 when it first came out. Still use that one. Quit for a few years but came back to golf 3 years ago. Still love it but since now 52 I don't play as well as I did when I first got the Odyssey. More 15+ foot putts now and find the softness of mine I struggle stopping the ball in the magic 2 foot circle. Thanks for sharing this video. May go give these a try soon. As always take care and keep up the great work.

I bought the mizuno 1 blade in the ion blue for myself in April for my birthday present to myself. I love this putter!!! feel, looks, the roll I get off it is what I had been looking for, can't say enough about it, and it was $200 cheaper than the scotty I was considering as well.

  • @RedwoodGeorge

You've got me thinking, Matt - when you asked if we should consider Mizuno when buying our next putter, my reaction was "why should I buy a new putter?" Is there a point when we should consider changing to a newer putter? Do they wear out? I've been playing an Odyssey 7 Heavy with a White Hot insert for about ten years now and have no complaints about it at all. It's a very stable putter and when I'm striking the ball well it does exactly what I ask of it. Being a heavy putter, it's really good for distance control on those long, long puts. I change out the grip every three years or so (not as often as on my other clubs) and it could probably go for another two decades. Is there anything I'd be missing out on by sticking with a putter that has been working for me?

I’m gaming the m craft 2 black putter and loving it & coming from someone that struggles putting. I broke 80 Friday made 2 birdies & some great par putts to score 79. My new grip of holding putter between my pointy finger & index finger is giving me a smooth stroke & working great ever since I saw golf pro on tv using it.

Enjoyed the video, although Im not sure £200 is a good price for a putter , for your average high handicap golfer (me) when you consider what you’d pay for a set of seven, irons 5-SW, but if lowers you putting then its worth every penny! Couple of thoughts, could we have a video on different weighted putters? And she how they might help lower handicap golfer?

Putters are such a personal choice, how people hold a putter and putt is so varied. Go to a good golf shop with great putting practice area and just try everything narrow it down to five then pay for a fitting. Save more strokes putting than any other club in your bag. Good putter is your best golf investment ever.

Matt, I have a question on another subject from one of your older posts and I’m hoping you can answer it here. When setting up to strike the ball, you recommend being able to lean your club on the lead leg and have it rest just above the knee 1-2”. This is a hard one ref cost as the putter is the one club you use the most so needs to be best suited to you, but £300+? really?
Not sure they can spin enough marketing and technical fluff to push them other than seeing good players using their putters.
At the end of the day it is all about feel and confidence that what your holding will give a consistent strike. I play a benross tribe MDX1, which I have had to check the bag to find out. blade style putter metal face. Do not like the effect of inserts softening the strike.
Had to but it this year as my old putter broke, went to golf shop, tried 3-4 blade style models sank most putts with the tribe, put it aside looked around the shop for 5 mins came back sank two 8-9 foot putts straight away, in the bag.
It works on the greens and the errors are mine agree about modern putter grips they are so much better
