He's just such a Buckeye Hater, just listen to what he said at the beginning. He thinks that Michigan would be a favorite along the lines of Georgia on just about any game bs. The season played out like that and it wasn't even close. It's probably a little bit of subliminal jealousy. I firmly believe Indiana belongs because of what they have done I don't care about the sec. And their medocrity
There are so many things off and wrong with what this guy said. Coming down on a team for a bad game that they still won, but ignoring that every team has had a bad game, against mid to bad teams, and a lot of them have lost those games. The SOS argument is ridiculous, when you look at literally any other metric or indicator that is being used. The games should count, but only when they count for you? Thats what im getting here, that or this guy just really loves the SEC.
Going into the season PSU's schedule looked to be tougher. WV is worse than last year and USC has been a big disappointment. Not getting any credit for beating them because they are having down years. Big 10 is very lopsided. Could have 3 11-1 teams and none will have the best record !! Crazy season.
You play the schedule you are given. Indiana has been blowing out everyone they have played. Maybe Alabama and Tennessee should not had lost to Vanderbilt and Arkansas.
Steve Deace love you man but have to defend IU. Vandy did it vs BAMA, Northern Illinois did it vs Notre Dame. No one thought it could be done until they did it.
Great discussion and interview. I'm sure it is apparent to everyone now that the top ranked teams of 2024 have also done the best job with NIL and recruiting out of HS and in the transfer portal. Seems like an "arms race" is brewing. Where's the NCAA in all of this? That organization is becoming more irrelevant by the day.....
It’s not right to punish any team who are simply playing their schedule. Wins and losses count. The undefeated, one loss teams, and two loss teams should be ranked accordingly. Then let the chips fall where they may after the regular twelve game season. Most likely Ohio State wins against Indiana, we’ll see.
I’ve been trying to convince people that the nil is only going to make the gap between teams at the top and the rest of the field larger. I have a lot of people who disagree. I look at it from this perspective. How many teams are going to pay $15-20 million a year and $150-200 collectively over a decade to be losers?? I know a lot of fan bases believe in themselves but I don’t know how many are just plain crazy enough to do it. As an OSU fan I think we would drop that much and not even blink. I know there are others. Oregon can do it with one donor. Texas is another I think that wouldn’t care along with A&M and USC. I’ve always thought Maryland was a sleeper in the nil conversation because of Under Armor. SMU is my dark horse national champion down the road. lol Especially since they can pay players legitimately.
How does OHIO STATE not control their own destiny? If OHIO STATE wins out, their in the BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP. That means they will have beaten INDIANA.
What’s worse, ND’s loss to NIU, or Indiana struggling to beat Michigan? Would people think Indiana’s schedule was stronger if they had Oklahoma State or Boston College on their schedule? I just think everyone is b*tching about Indiana based on their pedigree and lack of 4-star recruits, when you should really be evaluating what a team does on the field. And Indiana has been blowing everyone out except Michigan.
I hear what you're saying about strength of schedule but are you going to penalize a team because of a schedule that was not of their choosing. It's not like the old days where Bo and Bear selected who they wanted to play. If a team doesn't have such a great schedule should they just give up before the season starts knowing they don't have a chance with the playoff committee.
@@MarkRogersVOCFB This is true but nearly all CFB teams schedule powder puff non-conference games like Alabama scheduling Western Kentucky, South Florida and Mercer.
@@MarkRogersVOCFB I think the big talk about schedule concerns the SEC having more good conference teams than the Big 10. Are all these 10-2 SEC teams actually good or is it a matter of parity?
I can tell you blowing out Clemson didn't count for sh*t. Only two of the top 12 ranked teams have wins against another top 12 on the road: Ohio State and Georgia. Right now, only 2 teams have wins over 2 top 12 teams: Oregon and Georgia. Yet Georgia is #10 and is the last at large team. It's pretty obvious what's going on here: the committee wants an all Big 10 semifinal. They'll settle 3 out 4 if they have to. Guarantee that if IU loses by 60, they wouldn't drop below Georgia. Why? Because Kirby had the gall to call out their bullsh*t.
I think that Indiana would go 10-2 or better with those SEC teams' schedules, and I can't tell you the SEC teams would go 11-1 or better with Indianas schedule. Several have lose to teams such as Kentucky and Arkansas. Indiana has been blowing those teams out
So if A current SEC team is 10-2 with thier schedule. Then why wouldn't an 11-1 Indiana get the same favoritism if, they would end up with the same schedule
Lets just take a breath and accept that the whole process of 'picking' teams for eligibility to attempt to win an invitational championship is [and always has been] a crock of equine and bovine excrement. The solution is, and always has been, simple [but not without its issues re travel and rest] but no-one has the guts to attempt it. Scrap every conference and institute a series of national leagues with associated promotion and demotion between the next upper [last in the specific league] and lower tier [top of the specific league]. These games [and there would be a hell of a lot to play for financially for both the University and the players], would constitute the Bowl games. Who ever finishes at the top of the elite league constitutes you national champion, simple. It would put paid to all of the subjective whinging, moaning, pontificating and outright BS spewing from talking headed and fans alike. But hey, that would cut short the opportunity for the talking heads to perpetuate the manufactured outrage and earn from their blogs and shows.....happy days.
Steve Deace has the most sane approach to playoff selection of anybody I've listened to. What the committee is signaling so far is the overthrow of reason in college football in order to strong arm a result that does not match the reality of play on the field.
Every time I see Steve Deace I'm reminded of a little scandal last year at Meeeechigan. Wonder whatever happened to that case?
Miami’s best is dragging Florida around the Swamp like a dead body for 4 hours. Their worst is screwing around with the likes of Cal and GT
Who takes a grown man seriously that has a superman poster on his wall?
Why does Steve Deace sound angry most of the time? At least to me, he sounds as if he is an anger man.

I see a decade of mediocrity for Michigan in their future.
Still see mediocrity after UM signed the #1 overall player in the nation who happens to play the most vital position on the field

Steve, the voice of reason and objectivity.
If teams are not going to be rewarded for SOS, come 2026 the SEC will just start doing that!!

Bad losses should count just as much as big wins. Hard to get past the ND loss. THey have to run the table after that, but it looks like they will.

What a load of nonsense
Your comment about if Ohio State beat the same teams IU beat, No one would question Ohio State position. Thank you
No one is questioning thier position now

Steve seems awful hurt over IU beating his Wolverines. Tough!

Deace doesn't know what control your destiny means 😂 it's means you don't need help. Ohio State controls their own destiny right now, today ...
Is it beyond hope that ND loses both to Army & USC? Then talk about those quality wins and loses on resumes.
How does OHIO STATE not control their own destiny? If OHIO STATE wins out, their in the BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP. That means they will have beaten INDIANA.
I came here to write the same thing . Ohio st controls everything
Steve what up doe doing sports instead of politics yesterday episode the sound was out on TH-cam

@pnwadventurer802 Because most people don't agree with me.
SOR, seems to think IU would do just fine with any team's schedule. SOS alone is a really bad indicator lol.
What is the difference being Indianas schedule and Texas…….. who is Texas big win
If Texas losses to Texas A&M, then they should be left out of the playoffs.
They have none
Go Irish!
🎉Boise 4 seed

You guys need a daily show.
We tried a weekly show a couple years ago, but didn't get the backing we needed. We appreciate the thought.
