20 Over world cricket cup starting June 1 2024 USA v CANADA. The best on Earth on display. (ex first class umpire here) This game was extreme heat and humidity and other players left the field and struggled throughout the game. It's not 2 hours, a typical 50 over match lasts between 7 and 8 hours. Test matches are minimum 6 hours per day x up to 5 days Yes there are detailed rules about treatment on field etc but each tournament has its own circumstances and rules. LAWS of the game define how to play cricket and do not change. RULES are match or tournament or league specific and can change depending on circumstances. Very much like NFL is the same game as College Football but the rules details are different. Also not mentioned was the situation of this game. ALL the best batsmen were already out. At 7 out for 98 runs chasing 292 would normally be considered a formality to win for Afghanistan. Australia losing this game and they may not qualify for the next round of the world cup a week later. Many in the crowd would be on their way home by this stage as the game is effectively over. It was a unique innings. There has never been an innings like it and I would not expect to see anything like that again in my lifetime. Reacting to a reaction video - Our civilization is dead.... Thanks for the insight! That helps a lot for us to understand. It was definitely a great moment! Lmao! Funnily enough we didn’t want to react to this version because of that 😂 but when we reacted to just the highlights it instantly got blocked and the person who requested this really wanted us to do it 😂😂 so we had to find a way to
The workload he had in this one match, ufffffff....field for 40 overs, bowl 10 overs and then bat for almost 50 overs, the amount of work he did on the field, its like someone like Ronaldo's workload in an entire season....since, this was a do or die match, he had to do it, or else they would be out of the tournament...but eventually, they won the tournament...so in short, Maxwell won the worldcup single handedly
9fa and 200 runs down all Aussies were about to go to sleep but he hit 201 in a 202 partnership without moving his legs and he had a seizure half way through with his spine spasming but he played through it
By hitting boundaries, he doesn’t need to actually run. If the ball hits the ground before the boundary, that’s 4. If it goes over the boundary on the full that’s 6.

I watched this whole match and i never thought maxwell get a double hundred at no.6 position. Double hundreds are very rare to get in odi, they have either open the batting or bat at no.3
there's another vid that follows on with this effort, not sure of name of vid, but he was asked about it by press and gave a good bit of insight into how it was for him
You're generally allowed between 3-5 minutes for that medical treatment- maybe more. If it's something like a broken bone, then the batsman can remove himself- it's called retiring hurt. In any casse, retiiring hurt is the batsman's choice.
There's a couple of reasons not to go at the body... first for a body line ball to be effective you usually need to bounce it high. Glenn Maxwell is ordinarily EXTREMELY good at balls on the legside (which your body is at - it's legside of the stumps right). He has more shots than anyone else in cricket and he is an extremely strong legside player. Secondly, in ODIs, you have limits to how short so Glenn knows once you've done your legside short ball, you aren't allowed to bowl it again. You are removing the threat of using the ball from the rest of the over because he knows it's a no-ball if you do it. Now would it change when Glenn is massively cramping... well he still scored basically everything on the legside anyway. I don't think Afg had a good enough bodyline bowler to trouble Maxwell. You really need a 150+kph bowler to pull that off with how good his eye was at that game. Finally remember you are seeing the highlights... there were a lot of balls you didn't see. They probably did try quite a lot of things against him that you didn't see.
I remember watching this match live.. And I keep complaining about it on TV that AFG bowlers should bowl on wider length so that he can't reach it.. Its a very common tactic for bowlers who face with a batsman with cramps.. And AFG bowlers didn't do it
Great commentary guys, but you have to understand that Afghanistan haven't been playing internationally for very long so haven't really got the skills to put a team like Australia (which is their national game) away. They had their chances and this is what happens. Another point is that in a one day international (50 overs) if your team doesn't make 300 runs or better you will probably lose.
It’s different, but harder is not relative, it’s an opinion. Both games have different aspects that are harder than that of the other sport. For instance batting is harder in baseball than cricket. Catching a ball is harder in cricket than baseball, fielding in baseball is harder than fielding in cricket because there are more decision to make based off of what scenario you are in or what bases are filled.
You talked about the bowlers trying to make him move, but in the One Day (50 over) Game the bowlers are limited too where they can bowl the ball. It cannot go behind the legs (ON SIDE) as this will be called a Wide, add 1 run to the score and have to be re-bowled. On the other side (OFF SIDE) the ball has to be bowled no further than than halfway from the centre stump to the White line (Return) on the edge of the pitch, That distance is 1.32 metres or 4 1/3 feet, so half of that. Once again, if it is further away it will be a Wide and 1 run to the score and have to be re-bowled. It is a rule that gives the batsman the advantage, but it also requires the bowler to be super accurate so as to limit the batmans ability to score.
@@RealFansSports a yorker is a risky ball- slightly short and its in the slot-slightly High and its an easy full-toss- slightly down leg side (to the right) and its an easy boundary, or, if he misses it, it'll be called a wide. Bowling at his body requires zero movement. Its a favourite of many batsmen. The bowlers were bowling 'outside off stump' (left hand side of the pitch) for that exact reason - to get him to reach. At the body and itd have been even more 'stand and deliver'. Most easiest fours and sixes are scored off balls directed at the body. The thing about highlights is that you are only seeing balls that are probably not optimal.. Haha.
So in one day cricket , both 50 over and 20/20 cricket, the bowlers have limits on how much they can bowl so in 50 over cricket it’s 10 overs max per bowler so the fast bowlers who would be the really aggressive very fast bowls are used at the start of the innings against the best batters, so by this stage of the innings only the spin bowlers and “all-rounders” ie better batters who also bowl generally at a mid pace, have any turns left for bowling which is why there was only slower bowling happening when he was clearly suffering. If you want to see aggressive bowling you need to see the body line matches between England and Australia (one of the biggest rivalries in cricket) of the 70’s when one day matches were invented but before helmets and good safety equipment was invented.
Australia now refuse to play against Afghanistan but they can only avoid them in the World Cups by forfeiting the game. They are protesting the Taliban disbanding the women's team and banning women from sport.
1:56 is the moment when India lost the wc Because if you don't know this match was crucial for both Afghanistan and Australia if that catch would have been taken then AUS was completely out from playoffs but it didn't happen and later they won WC🥲
They were not going easy on him he pressurized them into it Its a nerve game specially at world stage and young new bowlers loss it pretty quickly when it comes to it😂
13:36 I used to play cricket myself at a u-11 to u-15 level, and it's not easy, under the amount of pressure the bowlers were under, to pitch the ball exactly where you want. Also, these balls maxwell were slaughtering were good balls. He was just a better batsman.
😂 tf you talking about. A newer ball swings the most and an old enough ball doesn't swing at all. The ball is thrown back to make it far for the teams.

So it is important to know the context. Australia had already lost to South Africa and India in the earlier rounds of the World Cup. If they loose this match they are out before the finals. Afghanistan is a minnow cricket country and had little chance to beat Australia, but when they did the "impossible," and scored 291 runs, people started thinking this might be Australia's worst ever upset. When Stoinis was batting with Maxwell there seemed some sense that Australia could still pull off the win and save their tournament, unless make it to the finals. They had come together at 5/69 in the 14th over of a 50 over match. That was ridiculous, with Head, Warner, Marsh and co already out the batting stocks were getting thin. When Stoinis went after just 2 overs, as an Aussie I was sick to my stomach. The shame, the horror, the indignity of being knocked out of the world cup by a minnow was staring us all in the face. When Starc came and went in just 11 balls it seemed like a back rub with razor blades would be more enjoyable. Then this happened.... and Australia went on and won the World Cup - thank you Maxie you are in a league of your own.
This was the match which took the world cup away from India. If Australia would have lost that match, they would have been out of the world cup, but they won the match and eventually beat India in the finals to win the cup.
The reason they don't aim at his legs is that if they miss just slightly it's a wide and also if he just glances it fine it's probably going to be four. Bowling at a competent batsman's pads is never a good idea - you cut your teeth picking up runs from that line. And Glen Maxwell is very, very good off his pads.
In the limited overs form of the game, im fairly certain the bouncer is ruled out because all the bowlers would need do is bowl unplayable balls and no runs could be scored. One day games were 50 overs each total. Big bash cricket is even less.
@@tonystarkelonmusk2083 well, what are you talking about mate😂. Cricket ball is thrown back because a newer ball swings the most and as the ball get older it doesn't swing at all at one point. The ball is thrown back so that it is fair.

20 Over world cricket cup starting June 1 2024 USA v CANADA. The best on Earth on display. (ex first class umpire here)
This game was extreme heat and humidity and other players left the field and struggled throughout the game. It's not 2 hours, a typical 50 over match lasts between 7 and 8 hours. Test matches are minimum 6 hours per day x up to 5 days
Yes there are detailed rules about treatment on field etc but each tournament has its own circumstances and rules.
I am watching it and entertained. OMG the shame 😰
Thanks for the insight! That helps a lot for us to understand. It was definitely a great moment!
Lmao! Funnily enough we didn’t want to react to this version because of that 😂 but when we reacted to just the highlights it instantly got blocked and the person who requested this really wanted us to do it 😂😂 so we had to find a way to
The workload he had in this one match, ufffffff....field for 40 overs, bowl 10 overs and then bat for almost 50 overs, the amount of work he did on the field, its like someone like Ronaldo's workload in an entire season....since, this was a do or die match, he had to do it, or else they would be out of the tournament...but eventually, they won the tournament...so in short, Maxwell won the worldcup single handedly
this was a do or die match for australia and he lifted them from there
one of the greatest ODI innings ever played
9fa and 200 runs down all Aussies were about to go to sleep but he hit 201 in a 202 partnership without moving his legs and he had a seizure half way through with his spine spasming but he played through it
I'm indian, but that was one of the greatest batting performance i've ever seen in 31 years of my life
The third drop was unforgivable!
If Australia would lost that match, that would be a huge upset.😅
By hitting boundaries, he doesn’t need to actually run. If the ball hits the ground before the boundary, that’s 4. If it goes over the boundary on the full that’s 6.
You have to understand that this is god tier.
It may never be matched.
I love how genuine they are despite it being a reaction video. Keep it up guys cuz that is the only thing where the reaction teams miss out. They try to hard to get views and end up losing the honor of fans
@@VaibhavAKhandare we appreciate that! We try to do it our way. We hope to make more original content soon as well! Love doing the reactions but I know we have value in other ways as well! Now we are just trying to make our voice mean something that people actually want to watch

Love the reactions of one of the greatest odi innnings! Allow me to explain, he suffered cramp a little but he needs to be out there! They were 91-7 to 292-7 amazing comeback! In case you didn't know, batting at no.6 in odi is very rare and get less opportunities to bat for 50 overs! I watched this whole match and i never thought maxwell get a double hundred at no.6 position. Double hundreds are very rare to get in odi, they have either open the batting or bat at no.3
Actually there has never been a double hundred batting at number 3, only openers and maxwell at number 6

there's another vid that follows on with this effort, not sure of name of vid, but he was asked about it by press and gave a good bit of insight into how it was for him
You're generally allowed between 3-5 minutes for that medical treatment- maybe more. If it's something like a broken bone, then the batsman can remove himself- it's called retiring hurt. In any casse, retiiring hurt is the batsman's choice.
Beware the wounded soldier! We love you cos you're a Victorian!!!!
Hey guys another amazing story is Steven Bradbury won Australia first gold medal in Salt lake City. It's a great story
That day Afghanistan was bout to shock us but maxwell had different plans
And AFG bowlers didn't do it
This inngs gave me pain too as an Indian afterwards
Great commentary guys, but you have to understand that Afghanistan haven't been playing internationally for very long so haven't really got the skills to put a team like Australia (which is their national game) away. They had their chances and this is what happens. Another point is that in a one day international (50 overs) if your team doesn't make 300 runs or better you will probably lose.
This game is more hard than baseball.
19:14 while there is a certain amount of time constraint - they can’t keep treating him for hours - this is a benefit of being ball-number based.
Bowl at his body -its his bread and butter
But since he was playing injured wouldn’t it make sense to deliver a ball that forces him to move or a Yorker right at his feet?
Haha.
@@theowenssailingdiary5239 That last part definitely makes sense. And thank you for this. This helps give us a better inside knowledge of strategy.
Maxwell is loved by many 4:38 , so no one should stop celebrating😅
The bowlers actually started appearing to help him out. I mean they appeared to be genuinely helping him out after that nasty injury!
Who's watching this in May 2024 after Maxwell sh*t the bed with RCB in the IPL qualifier out first ball and saw them crashing out?
he is just country player. He can't even play for his franchise. Such a BS player for ipl.
Australia now refuse to play against Afghanistan but they can only avoid them in the World Cups by forfeiting the game. They are protesting the Taliban disbanding the women's team and banning women from sport.

Its a nerve game specially at world stage and young new bowlers loss it pretty quickly when it comes to it😂
This basically won them the world cup!

Afghanistan took revenge in recent T20 world cup by beating Aussies at last.
Which meant nothing in the end because they didn't win the tournament and its only t20
T20 wc Anthem reaction ❤❤❤
4:35 in cricket changing the ball can affect its swing. So...😂
Yeah we know that lol
The reason they don't aim at his legs is that if they miss just slightly it's a wide and also if he just glances it fine it's probably going to be four. Bowling at a competent batsman's pads is never a good idea - you cut your teeth picking up runs from that line. And Glen Maxwell is very, very good off his pads.
this is crazy funny

In the limited overs form of the game, im fairly certain the bouncer is ruled out because all the bowlers would need do is bowl unplayable balls and no runs could be scored. One day games were 50 overs each total. Big bash cricket is even less.
You might be right. What we have always heard was they are allowed one per over but no one specified if it happened in all different forms
5:05 they cant take ball home because professional cricket ball are expensive 250$ each ball
@@tonystarkelonmusk2083 well, what are you talking about mate😂. Cricket ball is thrown back because a newer ball swings the most and as the ball get older it doesn't swing at all at one point. The ball is thrown back so that it is fair.
The interesting thing about this match was that even if Australia had lost, they would still have qualified for the finals and still probably have won the world cup.

@@RealFansSports It was a 10 team round robin, with the top 4 teams to qualify for the semi-finals.
