Dogmeat is the best companion by far. With the lone survivor perk you can carry 100 more items and he will find good loot for you. He also doesn’t judge you and will stay loyal forever. Not to mention his wicked ability to hold down enemies while I blast them to hell with my shotgun.
actually surprisingly ive never played through the whole game with dogmeat. i absolutely love dogs but i can give the other companions high powered rifles and they help out alot more, strange considering i own 6 dogs of diffrent breeds guess i get all the dog love i need in real life lol

Here's a tip I've discovered. Before you go off to Greentech Genetics, where you find the courser, get the drugs Mama Murphy wants you to get, and she'll give you a way to one-shot that ass face of an enemy, without needing a companion, or without firing a gun of any description. Trust me, that saved be more often than I can count.

How do I initiate the quest in the institute to find patriot?? I’m neutral with every single major faction in the game. Hell, I guess I’m actually an ally of every single faction in the game. Like when I’m wandering the wastelands and come across a couple brotherhood soldiers fighting some synths neither of them are aggressive towards me. But as far as the institute goes, I have gotten in there and introduced myself to every leader of the various branches inside the institute but after that I haven’t talked to father yet to finish that part of the quest? Do I have to do that and then visit the railroad and talk to one of them in order to get the quest where I have to find patriot inside the institute??? Or is that quest not even an option anymore because I’m allied with all the opposing factions?(except raiders and super mutants and ghouls, obviously) also I feel like it’s prolly good to mention that I have played fallout 4 before but I just started my first play through with the intention of actually beating the game instead of just exploring and killing people. I’m like level 77 and have avoided making any favtionvbh

Also is a nice companion for V.A.T.S. builds. "Attack dog" perk increases accuracy when enemies are immobilized by Dogmeat.
I don't play fallout, I thought dog meat is a disappointingly weak weapon.
