Missy your a such a strong beautiful mother. I would of done the exact same thing as you to get another opinion. My now 6 year old was 5 at the time broke his arm. I felt sad and would of done anything to switch places with him. As moms we got to get strong. Prayers Ollie for a speedy recovery

I would say he needs to be in the cast for at least 6 more weeks. It looks quite serious, and I couldn't disagree more with what the doctor has told you.

There's no shame in having to be a mama bear when it comes to advocating for your child's health and sometimes that is necessary, especially if you feel that your concerns are not being addressed seriously. If you're not convinced with this procedure you can still seek another opinion but probably best to go to another place.

Hi Missy and Brian, I've been noticing that Ollie has the lower part of his mouth irritated, I wish that he's alright and that he gets better soon of his femur, you got this Ollie!
Missy another thing to keep in mind is the over all look of how straight the bone is, yes that shard sticking out looks dramatic but overall the bone looks pretty straight. Ollie’s osteoblasts (bone building cells) will just fill in the gap and that part of his bone will be a bit thicker.

Oh Missy, I feel for you so much!! Of course those x-rays look concerning! It must be so hard to put your trust in the doctors when you are seeing images like that. Just keep praying, and think of all the countless hours this doctor put into learning orthopedics in medical school and how much he had to learn over the years. Keep breathing! Prayers for you!

Fun fact I was born at that hospital! I’ve gotten blood drawn and like allergy stuff done there. I love San Diego!
