Richard n'a rien dit.. L'animatrice habillée en vert n'a pas ruiné son immense succès.. J'ai rencontré plusieurs grands chanteurs et toujours avec du vert sur moi.. Funny how this song brings back to my freshman year in high school French class. Madame Barnett played this movie and I heard this song as if I had heard it before- which I know I haven't. For some reasons I recognized the words and even sang along to myself. It was around 1990 when this all happened to me - and funny I am an Asian teenager at the time.
I had the privilege of going to Paris on vacation a few weeks ago, and I had honestly thought that Paris being the "city of love" was just a myth. Well, not really a myth, but thought it only applied to people in relationships, and only being a romantic location for them. But I was absolutely dead wrong. I went to Disneyland Paris on April 16th with my family and was in line with them for Star Tours, a 4D ride experience based on the Star Wars universe at about 5-6PM. They have the line area set up kind of like an airport to really immerse you in the theme, with departure boards listing departures to Star Wars planets, various Star Wars themed decorations, and video advertisements for said Star Wars planets. I was looking at one of these departure boards deep in thought and then I tell my cousin "Oh no! I forgot my boarding pass!" She gives a few laughs but this tall, blonde woman with glasses in front of us in the line turns around, looks at me, and cannot contain her laughter. I notice as the line moves on that she keeps looking back at me and grinning and I'm looking at her too because she's absolutely adorable, but from the corner of my eye because I didn't want to seem like a creep. This goes on for a bit and she eventually makes conversation by saying she loves my family and I's vacation themed shirts. When we get to the ride and finally board, the ride starts off as it normally does with a stormtrooper stopping the "ship," in search for a rebel spy, chosen at random from everyone on board during that specific ride. It cycles through all of our photos and stops at the woman, so I whip back because she's sitting behind me and go "YOU'RE THE SPY?! HOW COULD YOU?!" and she again starts laughing and waves at me. The ride goes along as normal and we file out when it ends. But as this woman's walking, she turns back to look at me and gives me the most adorable smile I've ever seen. I wish I'd asked her for her number or something but my family and I had to go to Frontierland for dinner. I associate this song with the French (I think she was French? Based on the accent...?) woman and Disneyland Paris now because I really did meet her by surprise. Of course, also because this was in La Boum which was set in Paris, and I absolutely loved. I was so shocked and caught off guard by this series of events too, it truly felt like a dream. Although it is probably not possible that I'll ever see the French woman of my dreams again, I am happy for the experience, and will certainly never forget her. Paris really IS the city of love.
