It's good to see you keeping yourself warm and comfy for the winter. Isn't it just about over for this year? I would look at some perspex protection for that edge. As a Grandad it's hard to keep up with the grandkids. Having a 30cm, 6" clear wall of perspex over top of the edge featuring signage below the layout base will protect the trains stored in the area from accidental damage. No further distraction it's time to work on the embankment around the incline. Looking forward to seeing more stories about your trains along with your Train Room Adventure.
Hi Andy, from another Andy. The problem you are having with your static grass culd be because the mesh size is too small. I had this problem, the grass not coming out freely and it also looked a mess. Changing to a larger mesh has solved that.
You have vision, ambition, and ability. A great improvement. I'm wondering of you'll end up building a lift section across the door to give you a complete circuit or you might go the helix route. You have the skills for it.
Wow Sir what a lovely job you have done and always do. You are very gifted and a perfectionist in whatever you do. Your Layout is looking great. Always enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes Richard Canterbury.
Like the new track plan and where you have moved the double slip so all sidings can use the headshunt. Just wonder if you need to move the crossover on the entry roads back as perhaps all you need is to be able to detach your longest loco and run it around the train rather than where you have it at the moment which is half way along a siding. Remember, when you bring a train in the loco will be at the front and will need to get out so give yourself the most space for wagons and minimum to move the loco around!
Thanks. I took your advice on the headshunt. Much appreciated. I see what you mean about the crossover, it’s far too long just for a loco. You can tell I’m no designer. Love your advice! 👍
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt Glad my comments are helpful. Can’t claim my ideas are totally original as it is a line of thinking I have pinched from Charlie at Chadwick and his goods yard planning! Look forward to the next episode.
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3ttThe space between your TV and the door would look pretty good with a rail map style map of the layout once the tracks are finalized.
Love it Andy, thx again for sharing. Wish I had the time to progress mine half as quick as you do. Looking forward to the next instalment from Beechcroft
@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt already in that boat, spent my days off assembling a bench and tidying up the lawns. Putting off the flowers bed's as the fence is getting replaced in a few weeks so not worth the hassle to just have it all trampled on Will try get some done over the next couple weeks and then plan a shopping list for Model World Live next month
You’re an engine! Always impressed by your productivity and build quality, room doors and baseboards included. I suspect you may say you tend to procrastinate a bit, but there’s nothing wrong with a steady thought process that includes pauses to allow ideas to percolate. Plus you adapt and develop your layout very well indeed. Quality work as always. Well done.
Thank you! I sometimes think if I’d thought things through better I might have saved some time, but I guess part of the enjoyment for me is changing things if I don’t think they look right! 👍
@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt Keep up the good work. In truth Andy one the layout is done, I'll miss the build because, for me, that's the best bit when filmed correctly
Shouldn't the smoke alarm be at the top of the stairs to detect a fire below ? Not that I'm able to guess the layout of your home - obviously.... Door is a good idea, I'm thinking of pulling an inward opening door and rotating it to open outwards..... for a bit more room !! By the door you could make a vertical "traverser" full of rolling stock ?
Hi Andy, knowing your a fan of steamers should you use the extra space by the door to add a turntable? Good video as always and easy on the ear. Keep em coming...Brian
Not as yet. Had a quick look on eBay but not sure of the style I want yet. Don’t know whether to go resin or laser cut. I’ve never tried card buildings like Metcalfe? There’s so many to choose from!
I have the Superquick one in situ at present, but really like the look of the 'In The Greenwood' one (I have the room!!), but never done laser cut kits before@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt
You're quite a handy guy. Nice job on the door installation. I'm looking forward to the goods yard being built.😊
Ha. Thanks. Yes, can’t wait to get back on the layout! 👍

Hopefully Spring is here! Never thought of Perspex - that’s a good idea 👍. Definitely working on the incline this week!
Great video and good idea extending the baseboard. Looking great pal.
Thanks very much. Cheers, Andy
I think you did a great job on your door fitting. Plus great layout too. Looking forward to seeing more of the layout.👍👍👍👍
Thanks very much. It took a bit longer than I hoped but got there in the end. Back to the layout now 👍
Excellent work. Well done.
Thank you 👍
Looking good, more power to your elbow sir!
Thanks very much 👍
I tuned in for the layout update, but the door improvement was epic. Great job!
Thank you very much. Back on the layout next week! 👍

Thanks Andy. Never even thought of that. I will have a look 👍
You have to be comfortable. nice to be able to close the door on the world.
It is! 👍
Good job fellow Grandad, very impressed with your handywork. 👍

Thank you! 👍
Door looks good. You could put a sign on the inside of the door to remind visitors of the low door header. Like a low bridge indicator sign.
Yes - I think I have some of that black and yellow hazard tape as well! 👍

@@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway Thanks. I do wonder what I’ll do when (if!) I ever finish the layout. 👍
Nice bit of carpentry, I have never been able to fit doors, they always bind when opening and closing.

Hi, not sure really. Could make sense though! I agree, an outward opening door does give more space. A traversed is an interesting idea… 👍

Thanks Brian. Don’t tempt me! If I didn’t already have one in the main area then I might have just considered that! 👍
