Great presentation. The quotes on Hooker were spot on. Excellent division commander and good corps commander but couldn't handle an independent command. Also he made so many enemies working against the past army commanders. Lincoln even told him he was getting the command in spite of the things he said not because of the things he said against former Commanders. Burnside was just outright unqualified. Meade hard to fully judge with grant over his shoulder most the time. And I will never figure out McClellan. So many changes to destroy the rebel army.
Grant was a great General. However Grant was not over Meades shoulders when Meade soundly defeated Lee at Gettysburg. Unfortunately Meade did not kill Lee and every single Confederate fighting at Gettysburg.
Yes. Perfect example of the Peter Principal for Hooker and certainly Burnside. But even Burnside had his uses, occupying Knoxville at a key moment cutting RR.
