My great grandmother taught me to make biscuits almost this way. She folded the dough at least 10 times and coated the rolled flat dough with flour each folding.
Nice video. Very informative. Will potato starch yellow paper over time? And will it dry clear with a matte finish? Basically invisible? Or will it have a semi gloss finish? I'm trying to repair a page in a book. I think its bond paper or card stock.
Thank you! I'm chemically sensitive and am using this in my bathroom with some paper wallpaper. I live in the desert and am not too worried about mold but I did read that potato starch wallpaper can have mold issues in damp environments. How would you address that issue, doctorairflow (other than not using it)? Is there a natural additive or procedure to eliminate or retard mold growth?
Mold growth requires spores, moisture, food, and still air in unventilated spaces. Remove one of those four items and you can prevent mold from growing. If you are living in the desert it's probably easiest to remove excess moisture with an exhaust fan.
Most manufacturers of pre-mixed vinyl adhesive use modified corn starch as their base . But I can't say whether cooking corn starch the way I cooked the potato starch in the video is going to work the same.
Not very useful information. Who glues wallpaper on the paper-based surface? Nobody. When wallpapering is done in most households it is glued on the existing latex painted wall surface!!!
Very useful video! Thank you for sharing. Im thinking about using this method with gift wrap as the wall paper
