In the summer of 1992, myself and 3 friends drove 8 hours to Lollapalooza 92. This would eventually become one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Being 18 and from a small northern Ontario community, we have access to large-scale concerts. Not only were we experience the full concert experience for the first time, we were seeing several bands we were all fans of. In fact, the only artist I was not too familiar with was Ice Cube.
The weather was surreal. It was sunny, breezy, not a cloud in the sky so when Lush took the stage, her bright red hair radiated in the sun.
Soundgarden and Pearl Jam gave an intense show. One unforgettable moment was when Eddie Vedder literally climbed the stage (and extremely high) scaffolding, which I was lucky to capture on camera.
When Ministry came on, things got considerably more aggressive. At one point, a young 14 year old girl, who must have weighed 80 lbs got pulled under the mosh pit and my friend and I had to do our best to push the crowd around us enough to pull her out, thankfully we succeeded.
Admittedly, when Ice Cube took the stage, we needed a break from the mosh pit but having a beer, watching the cloud of "smoke" hover over the crowd was equally entertaining. We also saw cast members of Degrass wandering the grounds. There were piercing huts, political info booths, artisan displays etc. By the time the Chilli Peppers took the stage, we were bloody knee'd, exhausted from 11 hours of rockin' our asses off so we left a little before the show ended. We got lost walking to our hotel and eventually got a lift in the back of a pickup truck by a bunch of rowdy locals who had just left the show.
It was truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I'm gratefuly to have experienced it when I did.

I was there. Remember the drive up and parking in a field. Great day out, great music and Ministry knocked it out...will never forget it

Ministry left everyone too exhausted for the Chili's.

@@zblackrider Besides the fact that Anthony couldn't sing. Nothing like 5 guitar players on-stage with Ministry playing So What.

I grew up less than a 15 minute drive away from Molson Park, and was very fortunate to be able to go to the 92,93 as well as the Canada day parties. Awesome memories.

I was in what appeared to be 5th row centre while LUSH were playing - such a beautiful lead singer with her red hair - and as soon as Pearl Jam came on a huge wave just pushed everyone from centre to the far right. Frickin hell! There was so much heroin being smoked I had a headache for 3 days afterwards - Ministry stole the show - Stigmata beat the hell out of everyone!

I remember when Eddie Vedder climbed up that scaffolding and crossed over to the other side. What an awesome epic legendary day.

yes to all of that, hands-down the best day of my life as far as live music-experiences, but it was so incredibly beyond live music...a shared experience only those there, in whichever capacity, will truly ever fully understand!!

Molson Park in Barrie was the best venue ever. My first concert.
That cloud of marijuana smoke hovering over the bowl that was Molson Park meant you were stoned for free that day.
Eddie Vedder climbing to the top and walking across the top of the scaffolding was amazing.
They were act 2 that woke the crowd up.
Soundgarden's Jesus Christ Pose was AMAZING.
And Ministry opened up an absolute chaos that has never been matched since.
RHCP had to follow and did their best, but sounded so tame. We left early.
Molson Park was bulldozed and now is a strip mall.
Concerts died after that. Now you can only smoke in a fenced off area near the fringes like a zoo animal.

Hey there! I read your comments and I wonder if I am that “ 14 year old girl”. I was actually 15 but I got caught in the Ministry mosh pit and some lovely man saved me... I remember it very clearly. What did you look like at the time?! Hair style... height?! I’ve been looking for you🥰

GD. Don't know if it was you but I did help a youngster escape. That mosh was crazy.
